Chikyu no Pawa – Elementalist [RH]
~The Rain Dancing Elementalist~
Some people are wanting mounts in Guild Wars 2. So I came up with the perfect solution for everyone.
1. The mount will take up an elite skill slot. (If your just using it for transportation, this won’t be a big deal)
2. It will cost 40 skill points to get. (that way you can’t just buy it for a low level character, unless you don’t spend any of your skill points.)
3. You can only get on and off out of combat. Also you must be standing still when you do.
4. Should you get damaged while riding the mount, you become dazed and all of your skills have a 5 sec cool down. (This would include the stun breaking skills, elemental’s attunements, stealth and steal, etc.)
5. While on the mount, you have a 30% speed increase. Should you get “Knocked off” your mount, you’ll have a 50% speed decrease for 10 sec.
6. Also, lastly. I believe the look of the mount should be a donkey with a broom handle strapped to its head and doesn’t change its size due to who is riding it.
I believe this would be a good compromise.

And you have to ride it facing backwards?
Or, alternatively:
While on a mount you gain a 25% speed increase, and a custom skill bar that fits the mount in question.
Mounts can jump less high, but you can do combat on a mount.
Mounts can carry up to one extra player from your party. So you can give a party member a lift. This is to encourage players working together.
Some zones cannot be entered with a mount, and force you to continue on foot.
You must dismount to pick up loot.
Mounts can be summoned at any time, but not in dungeons ,and they have a very long down time after you unsummon them.
Some explorables contain dangerous terrain that can only be crossed on a specific mount. In such cases a temporary mount can be acquired from an npc nearby. For example, a Dolyak may be needed to venture further into the Far Shiverpeaks. Because only a Dolyak can withstand the cold temperatures of the ice in Jormag’s domain.
Possible mounts could include:
A large drake
A skeletal horse
A Dolyak
A Siege Devourer
A large seahorse
or we actually have mounts:
Enchanted Broom (currently not available)
Sonic Tunneling Tool
But it seems nobody is buying these mounts so it is very unlikely the devs will make other mounts. People just don’t want them.
Buy mounts = get more mounts in the future.
Don’t buy mounts =devs are not going to be bothered to develop more.
Naw, your idea is too much like World of Warcraft. Anet is trying to be different. Your back peddling man. :P
Stop trolling, k thanks

Ok, you obviously miss WoW. For one, all of your mount designs are rip offs of mounts from that game.
The drake would be a copy of the huge number of colorful dragon mounts WoW had. If you meant the drake mobs then no. Those drakes would have to be remodeled to look like they could carry a player and Anet isn’t gonna remodel the countless number of types they made in all their areas.
They made a skeletal mount in Wraith of the Litch King. So it would be also a copy.
The Dolyak would be a copy of the mammoth mount in WoW too and the Devourer would be a loose copy of the Scorpion mount the Blizzard recently put in. Oh god, the Sea horse? That mount was used in the water zone during the Cata expansion on WoW.
The sad fact is that I made up this very weird idea as a way for Anet to Thumb its nose at it “Competitor” by making a silly mount. I’ve made games before and the last thing I would do is add something that would make my game look like another of the same style. Anet want to stand out, not blend in with the crowd.
I actually like the idea of being able to carry one other person on certain mounts. That’s cute. I also agree that the mounts need to stand out.. the problem with that is that WoW has so many mounts these days that it’s hard to find something that doesn’t look somehow similar to WoW mounts and still look respectable.
Or how about we just ignore all the requests for mounts and accept they’re never happening?

I think we should welcome all ideas and requests, and see what Anet does with them. I’m sure they take in all suggestions, and see if they find a way to work it into their design.
Or kitten off. This is GW2. WoW this way —→
Why do you want totally useless mounts when you have waypoints? Maps weren’t designed for mounts, you could skip a map in 1 min.
WE. DO. NOT. NEED. THEM.
Not a bit. And Arenanet stated they won’t make them. Because players didn’t want them. So please. Stop. Learn to accept things. Or to play WoW.

GW1 didn’t need mounts either. Nor did it need mini pets, costumes, hats, polymock, community events.
Fortunately the game isn’t dictated just by what it needs, but also by what players want, and what they find fun. WoW does not have a copyright on mounts, they existed in games long before WoW. If people have fun suggestions and/or ideas for mounts in GW2, or they would simply want to ride around on an awesome Dolyak…. then why try to silence them?
By your line of reasoning, players could never and SHOULD never propose any new ideas what so ever. So if that is the kind of content you enjoy, Call of Duty is that way <—-.
Thing is, mounts aren’t a new idea (every other MMO under the sun has them), and really would add nothing to a game that as Gandarel quite rightly points out, wasn’t designed with them in mind.
If they were to add mounts, they would have to completely redesign terrain and mob distribution in the open world.
That really isn’t going to happen.
Lastly, and because I’m feeling cantankerous, mounts are requested by people with little imagination who fear the new and live in the past. They’re dull, unnecessary and unoriginal.
I actually quite like QuickLime’s idea as he/she/it is obviously poking fun at the bleating idiots who continually request this garbage.
They’ve made a suggestion that would actively punish the mounted player, and for that they should be applauded.
The idea of mounts in Guild Wars 2 needs to be taken out back, shot and sent to the glue factory.

Mounts are something which all MMO players have had, not just WoW. I know they are trying to tread their own path and in the main I love what they are doing.
Mounts however, are a massive chance to add to and extend your character. One of my favourite things about my toon in WoW was my gyrochopper, which a built!
I don’t want mounts for speed, as the choir of GW die hards always sing down from the heavens “we have WPs”. But I do do a lot if running around and would love to be able see what AN would do with mounts, I’m sure they would be awesome.
We’ll have mounts when the waypoints are gone.

This game is not wow, will not be like wow, so please… stop asking for mounts.
Some areas of the game world is not big enough for mounts (imagine LA near the bank with a bunch of people sitting on mounts.) Not a good idea.
If you want a speed increase, put up a signet, or pop abilities that give you swifness. Thats why these things are there.
Stop… asking..
Or we don’t add mounts, how does that sound for a solution?
