First when I first herd they be no trade, I thought right away it would be a system kinda like what Rusty hearts and so I did not mind at all.

However they dont have that system, the mail is just a hope they good people.

So plz do a system like Rusty Hearts had.

Which is when you mail a item to someone, you have a option to put how much gold you want for it. The other people cant take item, out of their mail, until they press this button that auto send the gold to you. As well you can put a waiting timer on it, so like set it for one day. If they don’t send money in that time, the mail auto sends the item back to you.

I truly believe gw2 would have a system like this, and dont know why it took me this long to post about it.

P.S. sorry bad English,

I seriously thought that there was a COD system until just now.

I agree that you should be able to COD something, but they should put a 15% fee on it to match the Trading Post. If the seller wishes to split the fee they just add 7.5% more to the COD requested.

Well that’s really the advantage of any direct trading, isn’t it? That you’re able to dodge the listing fees? Since you have to advertise and arrange the trade yourself for direct trades, I don’t think a fee is necessary.

acctually makes sense, advertise on facebook=free cost, advertise in the new paper/ebay etc., has fee’s..and great idea for people who wanna swap mini pets with 1 another.

Dodgeing listing fee’s should not be an advantage since a person is purposely trying to avoid certain mechanics of the game to give them an advantage ( One could almost say cheating, or call it abuse of the game). Listing Fee’s were actually designed to help provide a gold sink and keep inflation down in the game.

But you are right, a player does have to advertise and arrange the trade themselves, so maybe 15% to match the TP is too much, but I think there still should be some sort of fee so it still maintains some of that money sink goal to keep the economy stable longer.

Sorry but no, soon as you allow trading outside of the TP, all chat channels will become spam havens of WTB and WTS like gw1 was.

Have you ever seen an MMO where the trade spam is as low as it is in GW 2 ?

I haven’t. The fact that you can’t safely trade directly with other players has a lot to do with that. Since you can’t trade safely, the spam doesn’t have as much of a payoff. A lower payoff means a lowered incentive to spam.

COD mail, or a secure trade window, both produce a reward for the trade spam. Meaning they will bring trade spam with them. Do you want the trade spam to return ?

If so, what advantage does COD mail offer that makes it worth everyone having to deal with trade spam ?

Trade spam drowns out other chat taking place. Which makes it a negitive externality in economic terms.

If you disagree with me saying that COD mail or a trade window will bring trade spam, I’d like to hear you explain why GW2 doesn’t have as much of it as other MMOs.

The listing fees aren’t there to punish you. They are there to reduce inflation. So allowing players to bypass them without risk is not going to be good for the long term health of the economy.
