We Need a Trading System
the only way around this is to add scaling % based on overall value, the higher the value, the less you pay out, but I doubt they will do this.
I really hope they add a c.o.d. to the mailing system for trading.
Quite frankly I miss the old trading system of Guild Wars. I don’t know why they didn’t add it in the first place. The Trading Post is mainly used to sell bulk or cheap items easily, so it’s understandable to have a tax even just purely for the convenience. Once players start hitting higher levels and stop being interested in crafts and low level gear, they will be going for the high end ones.
Unless something is done, all prices for those items will rise a lot and do the opposite of what Arenanet wanted. People will have to sell higher end items for a lot more gold just to get a profit. Take the base items for the Legendary weapons. 188 gold or so from looks of some of the prices. It costs the player 5 gold to place it on sale and then a 28 gold tax on selling it. If I got one from the Mystic Forge, I wouldn’t even be able to put it up on sale.
While we are in the shop in a manner of speaking how about adding a secure crafting system as well where I could in game have a customer put the materials I need into a section of an interface where I can use them for the thing they want crafted but I can’t run off with them (if I was a dishonest type of person) and I select the recipe I will use and it will pop up in another section of the interface where they can see it and the finished article appear in their inventory when we both click OK to finalize the trade, and finally an optional tip section of the interface for people who want to give me a little something for my trouble…
“Take the base items for the Legendary weapons. It costs the player 5 gold to place it on sale and then a 28 gold tax on selling it. If I got one from the Mystic Forge, I wouldn’t even be able to put it up on sale.”
You have to remember that those items are exceddingly expensive due to a bunch of people capitalizing on the market, exploiting some bugs and getting a couple of thousand gold early on.
The question is, why they didnt implemented it in the first place? I was surprised that SWTOR didnt had chat bubbles, a BASIC thing for any MMO, but no Trade system here is just ridiculous

Actually they are extremely expensive due to how they are crafted. It takes 4 exotics weapons of the same type to even have a small chance at getting one of these base weapons. It takes around 12g to have a tiny chance at one of these weapons. If it wasn’t so much gambling involved for them, prices would be a lot less.
Lelouch. The issue is the people that crafted hundreds of these with a 65% chance using level 65-75 exotics as an early on exploit until ANet closed said exploit and nerfed the rate to around 12% from 33%.
Also the people that speed ran 30+g daily from exploited SCs of CoF.
That combined made it so that 200+g is considered “ok” for these things – I doubt they’d be worth more then 50-80g if the exploiters didn’t rake in the profits and bought up the entire lineup of weaponry.
We really need an actual trading menu system up in this game. The Trading Post is fine for lower priced items, but when you hit the higher end gear; it becomes too much of a drain on profits to sell it on the TP.
Take destroyer weapons as an example. The usual goes for around 30 gold. Just to put it up, it costs 1.5 gold. The 15% sales tax they take is around 4.5 gold. That’s a total of 6 gold lost. I’m up for gold sinks regulating the economy, but that is just ridonkulous.
Lelouch you have a awesome point there. I would love to have a open trading system again as in gw1… Nothing better then when market goes down and you instantly see WTB/WTS in local chat. But there is no way to trade you have to use mail and well some people are just not honest enough.
Yet i disagree with using open trading just cause it is costly for high end items and like you said it is 1.5 to place it there and 4.5 tax well you get your posting fee back after your item sold. But if you take your item back off the market they keep it. It is like a penalty so to speak.
And i think having an open trading system will allow you to sell for a less then fair price to the person next to you as sort of a middle ground price not market value but higher then buy orders.

The market value prices are artificial at the moment. You won’t find any of the high end gear at a fair price at the moment. If you want to sell something for 25g, you automatically have to jack up the price on the TP to around 31g just to get the 25g. This currently screws over the buyers more than the sellers.
One of my guildmates needed some crafting materials. I had a whole bunch, so I was willing to sell mine for a cheap price to my guildmate. But because of the TP hoarders, I didn’t feel it to be safe to do it through the TP.
And without a decent C.O.D. or actual trade thingie, I don’t feel comfortable sending someone 3g worth of materials just like that. For me, 3g is quite a bit of money, so I like to be absolute sure that I get what I deserve.
Maybe add a postal cost, so that it’s either pay a small 10c fee per mail (+10c per item attached) or be next to each other so you can trade for free.

I don’t want ever again to see that massive chat spam of “WTB” or “WTS” that I was seeing every day in other mmo games. And this will start the same day a trading system will go live. No. Thank you Anet for NOT having that so far. Don’t get me wrong. I understand completely what you guys want. But that spam… Just NO.
