Zaishen achievements
Something like this would be a way better motivator than the new daily achivements imo.But I guess well have to see.
Would be a really good idea
Good idea. I like it.
However, from a lore perspective, you do realize that the Zaishen are primarily isolated, right? Could still work, though.
I hate that suggestions like this will be placed into that god-awful suggestion forum and buried within 30mins…
“A release is 7 days or less away or has just happened within the last 7 days…
These are the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria.”

This sounds like a lot of fun. I’d love to see individual zones in the world get some attention and reasons to draw players in. The rewards should be really good, though, for the final event, say. No more of these blues and greens from a big fancy chest.
Unfortunate that this suggestion is now gonna be buried…very nice idea. Add it to your sig.

The Zaishen challenges were some of the biggest motivators for me to log onto GW1 each day. I loved them. I also believe they can live on in GW2 in another shape. Namely through Zaishen achievements.
Since the sequel handles a few things differently in comparison to its predecessor, these will also be handled differently. Since there are dailies, maybe the Zaishen achievements will reset once a week, and as dailies will now be rotated, the Zaishen achievements will handle things in more constant way. However, they will be a bit more zone centric.
For instance, the achievements will come in the form of:
Complete 30 DEs in Fireheart Rise
Vanquish Fireheart Ashcrow, Vidius Flame Tribune, and Shaman Scaldmaw
Finish all 4 meta events to their complete state
Complete all 3 Citadel of Flame pathsThis is just as an example, but basically the entire week will feature one zone. Completing each achievement will award a Zaishen reward (coins perhaps, as GW1 did). Also finishing each step will award Zaishen reputation. When you reach certain ranks more rewards will open up. This will be a great tribute to GW1 and will filter more players back into the zones.
The dungeoun based achievements however should stipulate that nothing is skipped, all bosses must die and atleasy 90% of all mobs killed. After all, the achievements are for completion, not skipping ability.

Which is pretty much what happened in the end. :/
I still think a return of this concept would work though, and if more people had input we’d get a lot of good ideas on this idea. Zaishen is just be a placeholder title to build on the idea though, as I have no idea if they even exist these days.
This is a great idea. It will give the hardcore PvE group something to do.
My favorite part of the Zaishen rewards is that it brought me back to old content that was interesting to begin with. Beginner mission too easy and not rewarding? No prob, slap on hard mode and get even more rewards. Maybe we could see that added alongside?
why not just use the Consortium, instead of the Zaishen? the Consortium showed up because Karka were introduced. they don’t have much going for them at the moment, maybe they can expand the consortium a bit more. Karka -related dailies, perhaps?
just thought that the consortium introduced fractals and Karka stuff, they don’t actually compete with the Black lion traders in any way i can see. hmm…black lion gangs vs consortium gangs…. could be interesting.

Not so sure about that. There are a bunch of Zaishen Engineers in LA.
As for the suggestion itself. No thanks, last thing I want is another 3 bank slots wasted on tokens.

That wouldn’t really be a problem if ANet would finish implementing a token section in your collectables storage.
Kind of lost here. What was the Zaishen? What did the Zaishen Challenges give back in GW1?
Otherwise, I think a weekly, focused on a single zone, is an excellent idea; but maybe they’d have to scrap dailies as people would be too conflicted to do one over the other…
Awesome idea, since ANet want to practice community base in this game an idea like this would for sure get everyone together since it is a zone base achievement for everyone. I am from GW1 also, I don’t get why some of these are not implemented in the game in terms of working together.
Also since ANet has mentioned that some of their bosses haven’t been memorable, this is a great idea to exploit these bosses again and perhaps implement better rewards or SKIN drops that are unique to that boss. Cmon ANet… you want community base, you want all the hard work to pay off and the time invested in these models and arts, upgrade the little things that people would do and bring them all together. Sigh…

The Zaishen Order was form of a large guild in GW1, and they worked to protect Tyria from dangers. They were situated in the Battle Isles, and since it’s been destroyed in GW2, no one really knows where they are now.
They had specific repeatable challenges that players could perform, such as killing a specific boss, completing a dungeon, and doing a mission. There were even extra objectives that you could complete which would in turn net you extra Zaishen coins.
Now Zaishen coins came in three tiers, copper, silver, and gold, the last being very difficult to get. Since you were only rewarded in coppers, and needed to trade them to get silver, and you needed to trade silver in to receive gold.
Each of these coins had their own set of rewards though, copper being base consumables and gold being valuable items, like backpacks and weapons for instance.
This was a great rewards system, and although the new laurel achievement rewards sound spectacular, I still think a new subset of achievements that lure people to specific areas would do great. And I think weekly would work better, because it wouldn’t necessarily force the entire player base into one zone, thus neglecting all others. Weekly would allow players to play at their own pace, and methodically trickle players into the featured zone as they will.
This system can even be called Consortium Achievements.

I’m not sure how that would fit in lore-wise though, considering that the Consortium is a) hardly a worldwide guild like the Zaishen Order, and b) disliked by the majority of Tyrians after the Karka business. Although, I wouldn’t mind having them coming back for a bigger role in Tyria, perhaps to redeem themselves.

I just noticed those today, have they always been there? I seem to recall there were some NPCs in that courtyard west of Marriner, but didn’t recall them being Zaishen.

Very true. I really dislike the Consortium, they’re just bad business.
I’d really like this to be Zaishen Achievements though, as they still play a role in Tyria, albeit minor in comparison to what they once stood for.
