Hela! Topics with [iR] prefix – contains my splitted parts of a huge Excel doc that contains ideas for doubling the gaming experience of ArenaNet’s “Guild Wars 2”.
It aims to double the gaming experience of the game, give reasons to play instead of farmgrinding it, and not at least, to improve Arenanet’s income.
Nearly everything important point included, with multiple alternatives that should work better than the current design.

Including:

  • Solution for Empty Leveling Areas -> PvE & WWW system
  • Dungeon Redesign
  • GEMSTORE $ income increasing.
  • Solutions for fair rewarding
  • Solutions for bugs
  • Better alternatives for some game mechanism
  • And a Lot of little details that will make this game much better and much more unique.

Update #2: Since I had a lot of feedback about my WWW-PvE Cross Support System, I see that many player misunderstood it. I’ll try to make it clean now.

Q: Why is it important?
A: With this system, we would have a good reason to play anywhere we want (not only the lvl80 areas), and it will balance servers greatly.

Q: What good reasons?
A: Right now, the dinamic events are nearly meaningless and repeating themselves not a logical way. How much time did you escort Phlinx? Did anything changed? Its boring and failing: it means nothing in a big sence.

Q: How would it balance the servers?
A: There are 3 major kind of servers, specialised on different activity: WWW/PVP, PvE/Roleplay, and both in the same time. Meanwhile PvE servers can’t manage to get WWW achieved buffs, WWW servers having them without big needs.
The system will balance all of these. I’ll explain it again:

When the PvE oriented server tries to earn something in WWW, they’ll figure out that their skills can’t defeat those who play WWW most of the times. Outnumbered greatly. They won’t achieve server buffs, they won’t play more WWW, and players will change servers.
But with the CSS, they’ll have a lot of support in the battlegrounds, and they will be able to earn the buffs.

  • All the buffs they earn by playing PvE, will help them in WWW.
  • WWW achieved buffs will help them in PvE.
    Consequences: They’ll play both with success!

Q: Why is it good for WWW servers?
A: The buffs they earned in the battlegrounds will be inspiring to play PvE contents, and help those who want to level up, explore, complete dungeons/story quests.
When they start to play PvE too, their WWW forces will be weakened. Don’t worry!
As they play PvE, they getting buffs for WWW, so their overall force won’t drop!

After China’s GW2 network is up, we may:

  • will have proper care on balance (OP Warriors, outnerfed Rangers)
  • Asian contents

I hope for more Hack’n’Slash like dinamic combat.

Update#1: Seriously, Completing the Living Story does not giving any useful reward?
It should give us a single token for the new skins – at least…
Huge mistake…

Update#2: I have a lot of intel from Players about how wrong the things goes in the game, and another leave-wave will come.
They said this often: “Why offering us plus backpacks instead of making sense of Balance and laggs? * ******* !!!”

Update #3: I’m recording the new videos about these suggestions, where I try to explain everything with some example. Stay tuned!

Reacting to the 1th Anniversary discussions, there are some:

  • Jennah should announce Abaddon Fractial research (because it would be a professional way to lead both LS & give us what people want, even ef they didn’t win the elections)
  • Jennah minipets are not a good idea. I suggest a random mini box / account by mail.
    Not depending on characters, but the registration of our account.
  • If AN sticks to Jennah minipet, at least we should be able to put them into the Mystic Forge, where we have a chance to get a random minipet or a special version of Jennah.
    Non-bound stuff. MF needs 4 item. Base slots are 5. We can keep 1 original.
  • Would be nice to add crafting lvl500 already, with a lot of new skins!
  • At least an bigger update on hair&bear styles would be nice. Import NPC uniques, make new ones, even GW1 has nice cuts that can be remade here.
    Anyway, I expect more sliders for making unique characters. This is the very base of playing a fantasy game…

Oh yeah, and Account Bound Dye unlock would be also nice after the Wallet.
“We” made the first step towards it, now let’s make an another!

Looks like the first step has been made towards the WWW-PVE Cross Support System.
The new methood of these worldwide portal warfares – is the base of what the game needs to inspire people deffending our world. Of corse, its still far from perfection, but hey, it’s on the rails now!

Let’s take a round on the current conversation on these “Ascended Armors”.
GW2 promised us skin-collecting for unique character appearance – as priority.
In my opinion, there is no mutch problem with ascended items. They may look terrible/fugly, but there are good stat upgrades to fight for – if you want to.

The problem I would like to talk about is the number & quality of skins released.
For those who can’t or won’t get an ascended gear, the game should offer other paths to make some progress to achieve. And for everyone else of course.
This means there are key changes needs to be done for the customers of this game:

  • Release mutch more craftable, non-hard lootable skins
  • Rework the crafting to support skin-upgrading (to Elite versions, or giving it an effect, colors, etc)
  • The “cool skins” must be rewards by achievements – We’re on the right path, just keep at it! (ex.: Sunless Wings)
  • Overhaul AP Chest loot variety; Zenith is far less than enough. This one needs to be done ASAP, because people already hitting the current top of unlocks.

After Dungeons are’n speedclearable anymore, and will take a minimum of ~1 hour to complete, the items must be adjusted to the original statement: One run, One Item
Then, as mentioned, Elite variations may take more round.

I would make some logical skin unlock on a lot of achievement completitions,
like if I achieve a 1k Grawl Slayer, I’ll get a chosen item from the Grawl set – and same on most of the species. Complete the story, get a free Pact item, buy/craft the rest if you want. Did every achievement on a Dragon fight: one free item again, then for another one, fight for the unique craft item (like a molten lodestone).
(Items mean Armor, Weapon, Backpack – skins only. account bound.)

It will be a hard work, but this is what we’re bought the game for.

People are not quite happy with where GW2 goes…

What was the original promise? To be able to get any game item without need to grind.
We have an amazing AP system that offers the same skins as rewards of years of playing (the additional stuffs are good tho)… So…
Why not make the game based on AP unlocked skinpacks, meanwhile the GemStore offers “ELITE” versions of the skins? (More detailed I mean)

When will the WWW be a real strategy game instead of circle-speedclearing give-take nonsense?
When will the Living Stories bring real permanent changes of our world?
When will Tyria offer a real “living, breathing world” to play on?
When will the developers realise this combat mechanism isn’t good enough to make sPvP an eSport?
When will we able to make a proper character instead of clones?
The list goes on…
And When will the Azureflame Longbow / Aether shortbow fixed?!

THE SIEGE BEGINS
February 18

I’m sorry to fail pre-representing how the LA Overhaul should really look.
Photoshop cuts was just not good enough because there is no FPS view,
and none of my known Map Editor was able to represent it in a quality that I would accept. Can’t even draw it, because I don’t have the half of tools for it…
But there is an updated map pinpoint below.

The pic says a lot as I’ve sketched it up. Highpoints;

  • Mystic Forge becames a wall-fountain with Zommoros’s Chained Statue.
  • Two side of MF, there are curved stairs leading to the relocated BLTP.
  • Below new BLTP in basement: There are the crafting Stations.
  • In front of BLTP: Trader kiosks, roleplay items sold. Connects road to the Bank.
  • The current White Lion statue goes roaring up on the side of the mountain
  • and below its original location, there are carved-in-rock ghetto houses with spiral road.
  • This new design is “Venezia-style”, with a bit of Kaineng feeling. Lot of thin roads, but interesting things to check.
  • Lionguard HQ also gets an update as well as the look of them. They’ll be a stronger Navy Force.
  • and some training opportunities here before heading the battlegrounds.
  • The overal design of New LA is separated to 3 “Main Places” where playerbase can spread, decreasing the FPS problem for many and serving different styles of users.
  • MAIN PLACE #1 is the current, but changed it to be more Scavanged style. Its the core of LA. Sunshine is rare, covered by skyroads & flags. Average people comming by.
  • MAIN PLACE #2 is the Pirate Cave, dark and dangerous, underworld of LA. Be careful here!
  • MAIN PLACE #3 is the farm-area south-east. This should be changed as seen in the Loading picture. Culturised, safe, cleaner. The beach bay is close.
  • Taverns updated; Music, bands, freetime opportunities, minigames.

This new design of LA would represent a true “Rebuilt by what we found”

Since the alt-topics have been archived, I’ll post them here

Sub-fee:
One time purchase for the game account became the only good way for keeping playerbase in game.
For those who would like to support, 2 things needs to be upgraded;

  1. Weekly updates in GemStore, where more people can spend their money on things they want.- this means more skins & handy things. Until the GemStore not offers enough item for ~all kind of taste, it just won’t be as effective as could be.
  2. Wouldn’t mind to pay sub-fees IF it gives special kind of rewards.
    I mean special access to things, and a Brand-new Sub-Fee Chest progress, where loyal players can unlock things by every purchase. For example, after 12 months, these users should have access to buy merchant-items from the TP, or ~10 use of MForge anywhere and every day, “free gems”, free items, etc. Its a thing that would benefit those who support, but wouldn’t make the game p2w-like.

Assault of LA
Looks like it was a 2 days fun again. I think it would be better with an instanced story-line to start with, then the lore allows us to breach-in in waves every hour to search for things left behind at escape. I can’t agree with the rewards also, they’re clearly “FarmIt!” like. And we didn’t yet spoke about the bugged achievements that just won’t trigger or triggers without doing them…
The refugee camps are also feel rushed. I can’t really understand why it seems like a so happy place when things meant to be real serious this time…

Tyria
I would highly recommend to re-map. It lacks the basic territorry designs of Castles/Forts, where adventurers can rest & prepare between the wilds. Everyone knows Game of Thrones, right? It shows off very well how the things should be like. There is one High King/Queen, and there are sub-kings/queens below (s)he to keep provinces running.
+ The WWW-PVE Cross Support System would also support this kind of design.
Some may say GW2 meant to be unique, but I highly doubt it meaning throwing away core logic things.

AI Dinamics
Tweaks needed here. Animations and unique skills needs to be adjusted to continous hitting with little damages, excluding charge attacks where foes have a reason to stay in place.
Otherwise, for the illusion of smart AI;

  1. Non-stopping animation “choreography”
  2. Skills designed to use on player’s behavior – melee or ranged
    I know its easy to just say it, but I also know its not that mutch of effort to make the game less exploitable but to have more enjoyable combat.

Not really. Let’s see why:

  1. Any work I’ve been made for GW2 should be posted.
  2. Once the topic was huge, then I had to clean & reorder the whole of it.
  3. Since then, people already know what should be here, when not, suggesting it again.
  4. Many just TS/IRL/PM/Mail me to reply, many just can’t even read the whole because its large.
