combat movement suppresion ruins the whole freedom of movement combat experience so please get rid of it.

NO. Its not hard to get out of combat, just turn around and kill. Or run a bit further if necessary. Or die.

so why are you in favor of keeping combat movement suppression as a game mechanic? what does it add or enhance to the overall combat experience?

So if you’re in trouble in combat you want to be able to just port away to safety? That removes all difficulty from the game… I agree that maybe they could modify it so that you don’t get stuck as “in combat” when you’ve finished off a mob 10 seconds prior. If you make it so that there’s no restriction, you’ll be in WvW killing someone and they’ll port away before you can finish them. Or you’ll be porting all over the place trying not to die. I think that would be weird and unbalanced.

the answer to that question would be no, a antiport mechanic would be necessary while you have aggro on you. my issue is with the running in mud experience once in combat.
I suggest you rename the topic. A lot of people (including me) will think you’re talking about waypoint travel, not movement speed.

thanks, changed travel to movement.
I personally don’t understand the reason for this mechanic either. Could anyone who understands please explain?
I’m alright with it in PvE, though it is annoying when you’re just trying to run through an area and something hits you; it’s terrible in WvW when you’re trying to get out of the path of a zerg. One player hits you, and then 10+ others run you down because they’re not in aggro-mode, and you can’t do anything about it since and speed boost is now null.
It really sucks when you’re trying to make a jump in the fractals, you sudden go “in combat” in the air, and miss the jump because of your decreased speed.
I think the combat speeds needs to be looked at as a whole, sometimes it’s going like slowmotion, and in wvwvw that can be a deadly thing when you meet people Not in combat mode yet.Combat mode needs to stay, the combat movement speed just needs to be upped imo.
Ah gotcha, thanks for the clarification. I too find it odd how dramatic the change in character speed is once combat is initiated. Quite annoying.
