My opinions about Wintersday Gem Store items
Perhaps you should stop being a collector of pets then? All of the disappointment over this event seems to be held by people who call themselves collectors — people that want to have it all.
It’s impossible to own every pet from this event by design, as you will only be able to get 2 of the 5 pets that don’t require gems. Maybe the lesson is you don’t need it all, but should instead just get things you like.
And if the thing you want requires gambling, maybe you should just recognize that’s what it costs to own it. If it isn’t worth it to you, then don’t gamble — because that’s what it costs.

The individual pets are/will be directly available for purchase through the gem store.
Ventari and Princess Doll mini-pets are currently available.

I stand corrected and was completely wrong. It looks like you can have it all.
I still think it’s unhealthy to feel like you need it all though, and I would welcome an event that required players to decide what they wanted and what they would never have (similar to the starting vanity items for some classes).
If you feel the designers are preying on the weakness of those who feel the urge to collect, those people should take that as a lesson to stop collecting.

I don’t think the OP is talking about the ones that you craft with materials from the dungeon. I think they are talking about the three that only drop from the mystery box soldin the gem store.
Garreth (Ra), Elizabeth (El), Fiona (Me), Morrigan (N)
Ceana (G), Briana (Th), Snowbourn (Eng), Onchu (W)

Only the Dungeon Minis will be available through the gem store. The Chest Minis won’t be. They are still in the gamble chest. The Dungeon Minis are the only ones that are being added to the gem store.
People keep forgetting there is two different sets of minis this year.
The ones you craft from the dungeons (the ones you get blueprints for) are going to be available in the gem store. Because you can only craft two of them normally. So they put the others in the gem store so you could get them all still.
Then you have the ones in the Wintersday Lottery Chest in the gem store. Those ones are only available from the Wintersday Lottery Chest. You can not buy them separately. You can only obtain them via the Chest.
Both are account bound, but both have different methods of obtaining them. One is via dungeons, the other is via lottery chests. The dungeon ones are the only ones being put in the gem store separately, while the lottery chest ones are still in the lottery chest.

Why? This was how it was in GW1. You wanted a mini, it was a gamble. Birthday gifts, never knew what you were going to get. Dragon festival, spam those fortunes. You want the polar bear? Run that holiday ‘mini dungeon’ a bazzilion times to see if the chest will finally drop it. There was no ‘short cut’ where you could just buy them in the cash shop.
The only thing I would say that needs to change is remove the account bound from minis, this way people can sell them if they please, which was the only ‘sure’ way to get a mini in GW1. You wanted a specific one, you haggled with a player selling it. Honestly, I think they should be removed from the gem store, period, and only earnable through the game.
And yes, this coming from someone that also collects minis.
