Shadowmoon has a grand tally of 5 active thieves in WvW. They don’t bother ganking solo players since there’s no objective to it besides trolling, but I think their Dolyak kill count on Friday was something along the lines of 17. If you see a thief SM commander, you’ll usually see him dead along with 2-3 of the other server since he has blatant disregard for self-preservation and repair bills. Make sure you teabag him furiously; he enjoys that kind of thing.

I wish everyone on Maguuma had a level 80 guardian bubble specced. It would mean every time I did x in chat if you are a guardian, I would get 13 xs and be able to do a full sanctuary/wof rotation with the most uber condition removal ever + permanent area retaliation + permanent 25 stacks of might and our Zerg would never fail. Unfortunately the most guardians I’ve got to x in chat over the past 2 weeks is 4. And one of them was level 16.

Yeah I dunno how many are running around as bubble bots, but everywhere you go there’s a dozen guardians with a staff throwing down swiftness. Could be everybody is leveling them up now as an alt.

Now that I think about it, I feel like I’ve had more spirit weapons summoned on me this week than my entire experience in WvW.

As a member of TAC, we are finally starting to get our groups/numbers together, so yes you will likely see squads of 2-8 thieves doing behind lines raids and what not. Not all of us are burst builds, for instance I’m a tanky S/D build and we have lots of condition thieves.

I do have to say, I had some epic fights near Rogues Quarry and at the southeast camp in Mag’s borderland last night. Both times it was two of us versus a steady stream of defenders, and were eventually overwhelmed, but 15 minutes straight of action is intense

Although one thing that has been bugging me: after a tough or close fight, I always /salute or /bow to my opponent… however, I’ve seen the most /laughing, /dancing, or /sitting from enemies this match than ever before…

I finally dragged myself to post in these forums and I really dont have much to say. EBay I wasn’t there for your reset presence but got on later and had some solid fights till about 4am server time. As for the rest of the week I hope we can get some more fights like that. Trust Maguuma when we say we hate being in this position. There’s too few zerg vs zerg fights and not enough enemy objectives available to level our lowbies! Come on EBay I really want an engineer for some weird reason but I hate PvE!

Player vs Door is never fun. It’s a good karma train, and a good time to level alts, but honestly, I can’t say that anyone I’ve heard on mumble likes this match up. In the words of one of our commanders “Zzzzz.”

He just said they were corpse bombing… what part in that could you not understand that they obviously didn’t care about giving you badges…? The fact that Maguuma players were suiciding and you still failed at your objective boggles my mind. We really just concentrate on having fun, if we’re doing something and you come out to be the victor, as long as they’re laughing, we consider that a win. You guys really need to stop thinking that every little thing we do or don’t do is directly related to us trying to gain the upper hand. This game would be a lot more fun if people just decided to get off their horses and just let loose.

If it was from TAC it was probably Knyx, since he has the exact assassins creed lookalike set and runs condition.

Why did you have to go and ruin my mask about us feeding them badges…? But to be constructive here, EBay really needs to realize what a distraction is. I’ll admit you guys have caught Mag with their pants down before, but there are far too many opportunities where we came out on top because you didn’t check your map for white swords. Scout more, have someone check out why X is contested. The enemy can be thwarted if you guys were a little more responsive and not only focused on badges. You guys also need to call in players from other maps to help you. Far too many times we hear “EBay is here, and there, and over here on different BLs.” While it’s good to be in a lot of places at once to confuse, overpower, and stretch the enemy thin, doing this tactically stops you from being too weak in some places. You guys could make for some awesome fights if you pulled your forces intelligently.

But if what you’re doing now is how you have fun, ignore me.

Hmm, I think this goes back to the earlier observations about a difference of attitudes between our servers.

I can fairly confidently state that the majority of people on Maguuma consider badges icing on the raep cake, not the primary objective.

I sincerely hope that most WvW players care more about the battles and the objectives than the badges, otherwise as they say, “you are doing it wrong”.

But if Ehmry bay is really in WvW to “farm”, then disregard the above comments, nothing to see here, move along.

Yes, that is exactly what he meant and implied. My apologies. Speaking of which, what is with all the thieves? I swear I’ve never fought so many against any server. I’m beginning to make crackpot theories that there may be a thief guild or they form parties of only thieves in WvW just to be advantageous of that “exploit.”

I just wanted to comment this quickly. I think what you’re trying to say is that EBay seems to win the small scale fights more often, while Mag wins the larger scale fights more often. And I believe there’s another reason that could be happening and it has nothing to do with individual skill at all. Most EBay players seem to spec pure glass cannon and various specs based around 1v1 and small scale fights. EBay has a lot of thieves and warriors that seem to pretty much only walk around looking for the gank. More then any other server I’ve ever fought. Which is strong on the small scale, but doesn’t offer much on the large scale.

On the flip side, a lot of Mag players are walking around in 100% supportive specs that really don’t offer a whole lot on the small scale side, but can turn the tide in a major way with a larger group. My guardian, for instance, is a pure walking bubble/heal bot (and this spec is very popular on Mag). He offers no damage whatsoever, but to a large group he can sustain a large chunk of healing. This kind of spec isn’t ideal on the small scale, as the number of people you’re able to heal is much lower than what you’re capable of putting out. He’ll also never win a 1v1 fight, haha. This doesn’t make the people able to 1v1 my guardian down better than me, their spec is just more suited to the task.

I think what you’re describing is actually the perfect way to show the different and opposing mentalities of our servers.

Way to go, you took a post complimenting 2 separate servers on their individual strengths and turned it into totally kittening all over one and painting the other out as far superior. Even better you disregarded logic by using red herring to do so.

Okay, so you do, and heavily. I was just curious and realized there was no way I was imagining it. It’s odd that some of your players will complain when we use this “exploit” but it yet it’s a widely used “tactic” for you guys. Ah well, there’s one in every family.

its not negative, his post was his rational as to why emary bay seem to win more smaller skirmishes, and megarma wins more strategic fights.

this is in response to ralathars claim that mery bay has more individual skill, since individual skill becomes more apparent the smaller scale the fight. and if people gear more specifically for small fights, then of course they’re going to win more often then not.

i myself is geared for super burst damage, and tend to stay away from huge zergs, and in my observation i could say the same, that emery bay i fight get 1-shotted all the time, but that doesn’t mean im more skillful, just means i’m better equiped for the fight.

There was literally nothing negative towards any server within my post at all. I recommend actually reading it.

The Culling is not an exploit. It is a bug, but a thief has no way to take advantage of the bug as far as I know. Its like if all the guardian heals gave them a stack of protection with 100 second duration, are you saying that all guardians are not allowed to use their heal otherwise it is an exploit? ….also its not something like the block bug or the Warrior talent that gives them mass damage to multiple targets. They can easily chose a different weapon or not use the talent and be just fine those are not major class mechanics, and they can purposefully abuse them which would be an exploit

Nobody said it was an exploit, we all know its a bug. But a thief using lots of stealth benefits from culling whether they want to or not. Nobody is blaming anybody for anything here, there is no need to be defensive about culling.

Actually, the original post very much said “exploit”, which is usually interpreted quite negatively in the gaming world. Nobody wants to have that word associated with them.

He probably doesn’t even know I play elementalist in wvwvw. I would be darn defensive of my culling abilities…

To be fair, the “culling” issue is more of a non-issue. A good S/D or stealth dancing D/D or P/D spec will still be able to jump in and out of stealth with good timing. When I pull off a chain CnD, I can time it so I’m out of stealth on my screen for less than half a second, and if I do a normal #1 combo, there’s a ~.25 second window between daze dropping off and CnD hitting again.

This might be too powerful a combo, but “culling” is not a real issue when using them correctly.

That alternate reasoning being that EBay players may be speccing for solo play while Maguuma may be speccing for supportive play, as shown here: (take note how I don’t even get insulted by the above quote, only give an alternate theory to your own deduction)

Cufflink, drop of in people doing wvw was bound to happen this week, attendence has been pretty good for Ebay last 3 weeks and i figured as soon as we take a loss attendence will drop, we prolley have lost those fairweather players aswell which really isn’t a loss.
This weekend is going to be interesting, we gonna be up against 2 servers we havent played since it moved to weeklong fights + the Pve events that gonna be on.
Haven’t posted in either threads so far, gratz mag on the win, defence is really what wins games in this tier I believe and you guys do that at a level that we just don’t see in lower tiers.

My guild [NOVA] was running around last night with a small crew just trying to flip camps but with amazing with the reaction time and tactics we saw from ebay in eredon’s terrace bl (i think) when a single engi/thief/mesmer would hold us off on point until the rest of the team got there. I mainly saw [TAC] and [SM] so props to you guys :P Glad to see a great defensive by you guys!

Hope to see you guys on the fields of battle sometime soon again!

We do sometimes encourage people to laugh at the opposition to rile them up a bit but I think in your circumstance is should be taken as a compliment. I know myself I frequently get people who dance on my body after a huge killing spree even though it took 5 of them to down me — not exactly something they should be proud of.

WvW is fun, but not our Focus really. Normally only WvW while waiting for a Guild Event. Which we then leave WvW for.

That said, I do like how civil the majority of the players in WvW are towards eachother.

While we do have a ton of thieves on Ehmry we also have like no elementalists.

Yeah, ele’s are pretty much kings of taking out siege on the battlements. Definitely one of the more important class out there. I was thinking of leveling one up myself lately.
