12/14 TC - CD - FA
It’s incredibly frustrating to lose week after week after week to TC simply because we cannot match their numbers.
FA and CD should have been working with each other all along to focus against TC, which would have givin us a chance to nulify their numbers.
Instead we spend more time attacking each other’s borders than we do in TC’s. That’s why we’re both doing so poorly.
^ I’m going to have agree with what he said. You can keep on telling everyone that TC is only winning because of numbers, but what exactly have you done about it? You may not remember this but there was a time when you almost kicked us off our own borderland. That was the time when both CD and FA were working together, and TC had to actually work their butt off to reclaim it. I don’t know why, but it somehow fell apart due to a number of people not wanting an alliance…and now, here we are again, complaining about numbers as if there’s nothing we can do about it…
What you are not mentioning is that the ‘alliance’ was only a few guilds on both sides, not even close to a majority. More importantly you are forgetting to mention the kitten storm of QQ that was on the forums about it, further you are forgetting that when TC said they wanted us to do this because it would give them a challenge, they forgot to mention that the challenge was to bring even more people to WvW which they did the next night along with another kitten storm of posts about retaliation for an alliance, etc.
While I think three way battles are important and that eventually servers will recognize this, rather then go 7 weeks getting stomped by zergs, but the game is still young and folks have to learn the hard way.
Let’s get into details then, if you truly believe that only a few major guilds agreed on an alliance and not the majority. It still doesn’t change the fact that TC got shaken about it.
Now imagine if the two whole servers did forge an alliance. What would have happen then? We’ll probably never know, because majority of you never tried….
Hey CD,FA folks, any tip on how to handle Tarnish Coast in general? What is their strong point NA/EU/Oceanic? And which guilds should we pay attention to?
Appreciate your help
However, with Blackgate guilds like HB + THAI active during TC’s weakest time slots.. I don’t think you have much to worry about.. videos related.
Dear god, it’s like a blietzkrieg in human form…Umm we can do that too……right? Yes? Anyone?
(edited by Shrouded.6450)
The part that I’m worried about is how lax TC has gotten over the last few weeks. It’s been pretty easy, no offense to FA and CD, their populations just aren’t there to challenge us a majority of the day. We’ve gotten to where no one is watching enemy movements and no one’s staying at keeps and towers watching out. There have been several times lately that I’ll walk into a tower of ours and there isn’t a single piece of siege placed. We’ve been able to get away with it these last few matches, but that won’t work in T2. We can’t just zerg around and take any objective we wish and go on our merry way, we’ll have to take an objective and make sure we can hold it against all odds before we move on. We’ll have to starve enemy supply before we take a keep or tower. We’ll have to make sure our keeps and towers are getting supply. All of this has been low on our priority list recently, and hopefully we remember how to do it right next week.
This. We’ve actually been decent about keeping eyes on gates and keeping defensive siege up, until this week. For example, we had 2 people last night that said they would keep our siege up to defend against the exploiters in hills. They watched all but two pieces of it expire. On top of that kind of stuff happening far too often, we are starting to get reports about towers/keeps being attacked when the walls or gates are already well under 50%, even when we have someone there watching. If we keep this up, we won’t even be a speed bump as BG and SoR plow through our towers and keeps.
We’ve gotten complacent in tier 3, and I really hope people don’t actually think this will carry over into tier 2. There have been a fair number of transfers to TC in the last 6 weeks… I wonder if they’re prepared to not be able to just cruise to a win next week.

FA and CD, try to not blow out the score too much, the closer IoJ and TC are in points the better off we (T3) will be for chance of promo to t2 in the future.
Looking forward to some new battles next week.

Welcome to t3! I think you will soon discover that FA and CD have nowhere near the populations to be remotely competitive in tier2, without significant xfers occurring.
I have changed my mind of wanting to be in t2 at this point. I welcome t3 challenges, I just want the option for one of us 3 to make it there again if and when we are ready.

I’m just concerned with the server shuffling occurring next week is that between christmas week and event particpation and junk, we might not see a good representation of a WvW match from any server. Bit of a janky time to get moved.
I know my playing habits will be disrupted by christmas, and I imagine that’s pretty much the norm.
Well TC, i watched your favourite 40 golems +Omegas rushed vs one oil pot. Please msg me in game if you guys really up to that again so i can FRAP at my perspective XD. Oceanic time plz! (I’m Joking :P)
Anyway thanks for the tip guys, we’ll await for the fun you will bring to the tier,TC. PS: we aint that strong as we used to but im sure we still pack up quite a punch for your oceanic guilds to get full stroke hit when we’re there XD.

Mmmhmm! Moving up Xmas week is terrible ^^
Personally, I’ll be away that entire week, other than Friday night.
I think taking next week too seriously in terms of any server’s capabilities is a little silly. Most of us will have other priorities.
The upside, however, is it will give everyone a chance to refresh their batteries, either by virtue of new match ups, or taking some time off to spend with family and friends.

I’m looking forward to next week’s match, even though I won’t be there for much of it.
Not sure how heavily Christmas is celebrated in Thailand, so I’m guessing a particular server may enjoy an advantage during a couple days at least (in addition to the “nights” which they would dominate any other week anyway).
Before anyone from this current matchup starts with the “oh look a TC player complaining about numbers”, I’m not complaining. The numbers are what they are, and I’ll show up to fight when I can no matter the outcome, as I know most of us will. Family and real life come first though, so don’t expect too much from most US/Europe/Aus players for a few days.
I for one will not be attacking FA unless I get scooped up in a zerg. I will either be in IoJ BL, EB, or my own precious and glorious CD BL. I have no intention to give IoJ the time of day.
There I said it, so what.

As an FA’er, I support this statement and hope our server has a similar outlook.
Last words – “I’m going to jump off this cliff
and pull all those guys down cuz they’ll die.”
As a CD player and leader of a very small guild of real life friends, I will continue my plan to leave FA territory alone. I really don’t think an alliance is needed to put pressure on the larger population servers.
The only thing that’s needed is an understanding that FA and CD attacking each other is pointless. Sadly, I think there are some major FA guilds that don’t see it, and that’s what will continue to hurt both servers.
When are people going to figure out there’s a war going on?
Um, wow guys? How about you just play it fairly before dog piling on IoJ.

For the second week, TC, CD & FA fight it out!
- Will TC win again?
- Will the ranking-impact be as small as last week?
- Will the new outbreak event make a difference?
- Will this be a nice thread, like the other weeks?
- Will the Dolyak gods punish FA for the Dolyak murders last week ?Find out here!!!
OP topic questions revisited:
-oh my, yes
-yes
- bursts out laughing
-the other weeks were pretty much not “nice threads” but this one has been so far
-no, the people (lack of people?) that refuse to defend their borderland accomplished that

I really hope IoJ is prepared.

Sadly this talk of FA and CD working together most likely won’t happen anyway, which is why I think some of us are trying to get the idea started as early as we can. If we wait to see how badly LOJ can beat us, it’ll be too late. I’m pretty sure they’ll be at least as strong as TC, if not stronger due to experience in the higher tier.
It should have been the clear strategy against TC, but didn’t work for whatever reason. Thinking we’d figure it out against LOJ is just wishful thinking.
When are people going to figure out there’s a war going on?
Sorry I mean IOJ in the above post. Can’t edit for some reason.

You guys have no idea how much has changed on ioj since we all last met. We are no longer the numerical force we used to be. We are now hardened fighting against the odds type. It was fun last night around 5-7 am EST where FA just pretty much ran break out events constantly on TC because we didn’t have the people to do anything. -_-
You TC guys are so much fun.
An awesome tower defense turned into a social event with the enemeies. I was surprised to see you all jump down to greet me!
Why can’t we have enemies like you guys? Spent a good 25 minutes running around with you guys while having a blast. Sure, I died 14 times, but it was so worth it. You’ll be missed when you move up a tier. Especially you, PINK. Especially. ?
P.S. Sorry if I killed you. It’s nothing personal. :>

Can’t speak for other guilds, but we’ll probably stay away from CD as much as we can next week. At the same time, we’re getting our fill of it this week. Fun fights in CDbl tonight.

Hey guys, Guild leader of GoF here. Aliases.8354 was a member of GoF over a month ago named Conflict. He was removed from the guild for causing drama and saying some very rude inappropriate things in guild chat with a very crude sense of humor and has sense sought out revenge on us for removing him.
We are new to Crystal Desert as of today as the WvW on Darkhaven was dying. This is the first time we’ve ever transferred servers and did not leave because of losing the past 4 weeks but for the reason that the WvW community is virtually gone. Our policy is to stay where we pick as long as the WvW community is alive. The people from Crystal Desert were very welcoming to us and we are very happy to be here.
As far as exploiting, we do not stand by exploiting in any sense. Our mission statement is public on our website for any and all to see.
GoF is willing to work with any and all people on Crystal Desert in the direction of benefiting the server in WvW.
We are sorry conflict, as things did not work out for you in our guild. However, we do still wish you the best in your journey.

I’m pretty sure both FA and CD players fail to realize that attacking each other just makes things worse. It’s a very casual format and you’re always going to get some folks who either don’t understand or just don’t care. So ignorance works in favor of TC for that reason and also because probably of number of TC players just think they’re awesome instead of acknowledging population disparity.
That in turn creates a bandwagon effect where consistently higher scores draw in more folks than usual to WvW play. I witnessed this problem during the orb days when FA was matched up with similar opponents but clearly winning due to orb domination. The next week rolls along and lower scores will keep the fairweather players away. This is happening for TC right now because they’re just winning by leaps and bounds with superior numbers, during certain hours they can pretty much take whatever they want and it creates a prime environment for leveling scaled characters and karma training. The opposite is occurring for FA and probably CD as well.
I realize there’s the looming specter of playing IoJ(another TC-like world) but I would like to see a match-up with similar numbers for once… would be interesting.
Hey GoF, welcome to tier 3.
Just out of curiosity, before you took Askalion Hills on CD BL earlier, you had a failed attempt where you broke down the wall with a few catapults, then you got pushed back and you all backed into a corner of the keep wall.
May I ask why you all stacked up there? We aren’t really sure if you were trying for a portal bomb, or trying to turtle in the corner and use the 5-target aoe cap to your advantage…?

[SIC] Strident Iconoclast ~ FA
So there’s a lot of talk about why we won’t succeed in T2, and I think I’ve found the answer to why:
Worthless commanders.
Sugar Packet was rockin’ the game before s/he stepped down to build trebs at SMC, and for the sake of asbestos, some “other” commanders took over throwing rocks at a titanium hull. I spent almost 3 hours defending Anz, upgrading the tower, escorting yaks from Speldan, you know…Something we ought to all do.
It was only 10% away from reinforced doors and it came under heavy treb fire from FA. 20 minutes later and an FA failure at trebbing from the vista, it was breeched. Repeated calls for help were ignored by this commander because you can’t “defend all over the map”. That’s not the point. Chucking rocks at CD’s keep while FA is hurling frozen boulders at our reinforced location is completely unnecessary.
This is why we won’t succeed in T2. Defend a tier 1 tower close to the CD base that you’re chucking rocks at, versus coming to defend a reinforced tower that’s only a waypoint away.
I commend Kerrick and his Elementalist friend for attempting to take out the FA treb @ OL (which was entirely doable, and was stated multiple times in team chat, but ignored by that certain commander).
Yeah, I’m a little kitten, but you can count me out of T2 when we have people that don’t have a map-wide team mentality.

To your first point (re:~alliance) agree….this is an mmo….you can virtually guarantee some people will not understand or care – which often snowballs to wreck havoc (see infamous dolyak incident by a handful of people). The “breakout” events are all the more draw for randoms to hit the strategically wrong BLs.
It will be interesting to see what IoJ’s numbers will be like, based on the comments in the pre t2 match, it sounds like TC has a big population (ie they have map q’s) for even tier 2…IoJ may actually be a smaller server pop wise (prime time). Though the prospect for IoJ to get a win, after a streak of losses may bring out more IoJ’s from the woodwork.
Granted the holidays will likely make a mess of things, so next week prolly wont be representative of server “norms”.

Re Jaldy:
The longer one continues winning (and the easier those wins become), the more complacent (some) players become. The majority of icon commanders who have fielded easy wins over the past month or so will find themselves in dire straights up in tier 2.
Those of us who play for a challenge tend to play less when that challenge is lacking. This leads to your more casual players, and less experienced icons to ‘run’ maps. Not a bad thing, everyone needs to learn. And in tier 2, those who stick it out the entire week will hopefully learn!
As I said before, next week’s match won’t really be representative of any server’s prowess due to where it falls, but the lethargy that creeps into one’s tactics when faced with little threat (and all credit to FA, CD and YB, they all made EB an exciting place for me at times over the past 2 months) will lead to some swift re-evaluation of competence in tier 2.

Hey CD,FA folks, any tip on how to handle Tarnish Coast in general? What is their strong point NA/EU/Oceanic? And which guilds should we pay attention to?
Appreciate your help
Their offense is kind of lackluster. Compared to other servers when it comes to taking new structures they generally aren’t able to do so unless they have a significant lead in numbers.
Where they shine is in defense. Their defense is completely brutal and everything you take from them, you will have to earn, no PvDoor. Every tower and keep you take will be loaded with defensive siege and they’ll have a small army ready to defend even the most remote tower.
I totally agree with what Nyari said, from a pug point of view. We’ve actually gotten complacent with continuous victories over the weeks, and although a brief combined assault by both CD & FA (nope I’m not calling it alliance now) on both fronts at the same time on TCBL did change things a week ago, added to it was the dolyak incident. Apart from that, not so much to do. I don’t hang around EB much so I don’t know who’s a new commander and who’s a Vet, but it was refreshing to see some very familiar and more deserving faces sport icons in the last two days on BL’s!
@Phantom, I’m not sure if you had dorito over your head in the past but it was nice to see you lead earlier on FABL at Bay; and also @Azelroth, congrats bro! You deserve it, you did well in the past with leading groups without an icon, and am sure now you’ll do great with it. As far as Commanders not making right decisions – I feel either they should wait sporting the role until they’re good with leading groups without an icon and communicating with other grps at the same time watching maps to make the right call; or we should give them some time to learn and adapt to the new role. Its not as easy as most of us think it’d be, even if you were good in running around smaller groups doesn’t mean you can immediately do equally good with an icon and whole map’s responsibility supposedly falling on your shoulders. I’m ok to give them some space to adjust to their new responsibility as long as they’re not arrogant on chat and throwing orders all over and yelling at pugs.
Also yeah, will be interesting to see how we do after reset, and throughout the week with Xmas and Wintersday stuff, although it won’t be a true display of anybody’s strengths or weaknesses, it can be a nice warm up for future matches if we even manage to maintain the ranking, and is a nice and challenging change.

I know im one of those people that supported a cross server coordination against a bigger server but shouldnt you try to poke IOJ for the first few days just to see what they’re capable of? I feel kinda bad cus they might not be down with that.
~Nyari Cil, Queen of EB
Well said, but I don’t think complaceny is all to blame.
I guess we’ll see how it goes.
This again makes me curious about the social environment on your server. How prevalent is ongoing, public dialogue about what’s happening on the map? Do you see a lot of people asking what they can do or where they can go? ’Cuz that appears to be a fairly common occurrence on TCBL.
I learn what to do (and where to do it) usually because I ask. But I ask because the overall tone of the chat usually encourages it, and the prominent guilds don’t shut people out.
A few months back I recall people being told to leave the server if they said they were new and wanted to know where to go. This is the kind of thing I reflexively ignore as I get used to an MMO so I really have no idea how common that is anymore. We have a good deal of bickering in chat when we have several commanders with different ideas about how effective hitting a particular target will be (in T4 we would ‘waste’ a lot of time trying to get through the OMGARROWED defense at the lord room of hills. By the time we actually punched through we’d lost a lot of ground to the other server and our garrison would at the very least be threatened if we somehow hadn’t lost it.)
It’s been kind of hard to communicate to some people that being correct doesn’t mean they’re right to kitten up the chat about it.
But not once in all the matchups week after week have you guys ever blamed yourselves.
You must not read any of my posts.
As for outmanned you only get that buff when they outnumber you 2 to 1, approximately. The buff goes away while you’re still significantly outnumbered.
*This is based on times when the known number of CD on a map is 20-30 so it may not be a ratio but rather some flat number.
That said you don’t outnumber us that badly, but the quick changes between maps lead a lot of players to think you’ve just got groups that large everywhere, and you’re generally not split between many objectives. I’ve said it several times now, if we played better we would tie you up in one location while we won lots of smaller battles everywhere else.
Instead we mostly play terribly and nobody can take advantage of your tunnel vision.
my style of play, which is small group/solo. Admittedly the game is not designed for this style of play, but typically it provides a lot of enjoyment regardless.
Small groups are actually great, but you need some communication with the larger forces to not get trampled by enemy zergs.
If you’ve played WvW long enough you’ve probably see a few gank squads- just around five melee characters that run around stomping on the folks trickling behind a zerg, or even 20 man zergs if they got spread out that badly and don’t ever converge.
Perhaps rallying against exploiters will be the Squanto that cools down our heated rivalry and brings our servers together?
Much more likely a Dolyak parade.
Let’s get into details then, if you truly believe that only a few major guilds agreed on an alliance and not the majority. It still doesn’t change the fact that TC got shaken about it.
Did somebody say details?
…
I’ll keep it brief this time. [KH] [RISE] [LaZy] with fought tooth and nail to take their natural tower (no wussy breakouts that week) and then pressured the bay in TC border. This pulled all of the borderland players from TC into that map and there was a lot of intense stalemate all night while FA marched up their side of the map and eventually got pushed back out, but they never made a move to take the thoroughly defended tower or participate in the heavy fighting between TC and CD (this is strange how?)
In short the ‘alliance’ was what happens to CD and FA basically every time FA decides to send a focused group into those borderlands.
There was another ‘alliance’ that consisted of zero guilds but something on the order of ten players that were dueling each other and chatting.
Derv the Monkinator had asked for an alliance early on but never even got intel on the names of CDs commanders (that week) and there was one other post claiming that every large guild on FA was in on ‘the alliance.’
No other details ever came out.

Oh cool, I might learn some tricks after all, or more likely just have an easier time pointing them out to newer people on the server :/
About 5 TC from [TSP] and some [JEST] just exploited their way into Cliffside in FABL for the 2nd time. Really guys? You’re already winning by a stretch and you have to resort to this kind of stuff? So pathetic.

Was trying to use the 5 target aoe cap to my advantage and hope you guys would come around that corner so we could fear/ push you off the cliff , while then try to get our mesmers to time the invis and rush into your group after they saw you get pushed off…. sadly this did not happen and you guys were cautious. Fun fights in TCBL today. CD’s KH guild surprised us in TC by hitting TCBL’s Garrison’s Watergate with a massive zerg and several Omega golems. Garrison fell before reinforcements could arrive. You guys almost took Hills too!
Was alot of fun fighting you guys off at Hills and retaking Garrison with our own Golem rush. You guys made us fight hard to retake TCBL’s Garrison. Biggest rush I’ve had in WvW since the weekend!
I think the best way would be to just post the full guild name with [tag] and just ask someone from the guild to PM you so you can discuss over PM’s without any mention of exploits here on forums. That way there’s zero chance for any infractions, derailing of threads, we could save a lot of unnecessary arguments here, and actually keep things civil and I request all 3 or any other servers following this thread to make it a habit. If there’s no action being taken or the guild leader or member ignores you, you might then want to PM to regular members of that particular server with actual guild name and a screenshot as a last resort so there’s little confusion and we’d know whom to avoid and report from our respective ends.
Hope I’m not asking too much.
