You guys have definitely already proven yourselves…. Now before anyone says oceanic is PvDoor you need to play against these guys. I was hiding in west keep of maguuma borderlands when I see a HIRE ele standing beneath me seemingly afk so I let it slide. When I move out to switch shift with another Mesmer sure enough the ele follows me quietly. Soon enough I out run her, but then I notice 2 others have joined her for the chase. Long story short it was 40 mins and about 5-6 HIRE players later that I was caught. Loads of fun with you guys since it seemed that everywhere I turned you had someone posted to catch me, very impressive co ordination!

Are you the Maguuma mesmer? All of us were impressed and we thought that you were using some hacking there. You wasted several mins of our time chasing you :/ Seriously, share us your build. We like need 6 people just to hunt you down in circles :O

btw, I’m the mesmer there who almost killed you but then, you suddenly portaled away :O

I can say as a TC insomniac and someone that has fought CD’s and FA’s night/morning crew (I’m PST) that a 450 person guild would crush any T3 server’s night presence if they fielded 30 people in the borderlands.

Meh, I don’t mind it so much. Until the recent transfer the current bracket was pretty good. Yak’s didn’t win by a blowout and we were pretty much neck and neck with Ehmry Bay, so there was a higher turnout overall. The problem for me is that the big WvW update is supposed to be in February I hope they do more interesting things along the way like the breakout events and tune them appropriately.

Yeah, the matchup itself is cool in my opinion. The three servers have varying playstyles and Yak’s added a different dimension that CD, which was cool. It’s more on the forums than anything, which is enjoyable to me because I generally use the matchup thread to help pass time at work. That was more directed at the “omg everyone on every other server except mine is showing poor sportsmanship” crowd.

I’m actually from Maguuma, but there is a different [TACO] guild on Yak’s Bend, so it’s pretty easy to think I’m from YB. For such leet roamers, Maguuma’s are certainly not very visible. Where are these great small roaming groups? Still haven’t seen OG after more than a week now. Considering how awesome these guys are, you’d think they would do something once in a while.

Also laughing at Bunzy and the other Mag chest thumpers thinking Yak’s is winning this with numbers. You’re a fool if you think there’s a meaningful numbers difference between any of these servers.

No, you guys have more players. There’s no real reason to argue it.

It’s not a substantial advantage like it was before, though. I don’t think there’s any point in arguing about it at all. They are reasonable people and they don’t zerg out everywhere or night cap substantially. If we were as good as some people claim we are, we’d still be winning :P

Those are mostly just random individuals ITT.

I know quite a few people who think Yaks is moar fun to play than CD (which was a zerg server). And think Yaks is better than CD.

Funny about the thieves comment. I see way moar thieves from ebay than maguuma.

I thought the whole point of WvW is getting the right number of people into the right spot at the right time. I have yet to see a side pull back when they have the other outnumbered and say “You 10 guys just wait there, we don’t want to be unsportsmanlike.” The 3 servers have similar populations. Yaks just has been doing a better job of of getting their people into one spot. Perhaps if you guys didn’t have small groups of gank squads roaming round draining your population from key fights, you might do better.

I expect if EB gets a big population boost like they say they have, they will shoot into T3 in a week or two.

We are pretty good at herding cats to the right place. Despite the few people from Maguuma talking about gank squads there really aren’t that many out there.

These stupid assertions hold no ground in reality, especially given that our competition from previous matchups are coming onto this board to defend us.

Wonder if Bunzy was the DD ele from his guild who had 5 goes at killing my mates lvl 20 Guardian from TOG the other day and failed each time. Elite skills shown there btw. So masterful. Attack spam off 5 skills run like a kitten, from a lvl 20 guardian no less. I am just quaking at the mere thought of 5 of those elite guys roaming around together slaughtering people who are afk or something.

So, say blue already has a tower at south east. Then blue has breakout event on south west tower (near their spawn point). Question is: is this as intended? I thought if a server already has defendable structure, minimum a tower, breakout won’t happen?

Yeah, I don’t think that’s intended. But there are lots of things buggy about it, like how you can get another breakout right after finishing one to get more free supply.

This was at the hill southwest of Bluevale. At least 10 Maguma (only two visible in this pic) sitting in a position that was bugged out, making them invulnerable.

They were well in range, and I was tossing grenades like crazy, all of them with the same result.

Luckily we already had the south of the camp seiged up, so they couldn’t do anything.

I just thought it was a kind of lazy way to play.

Then I looked at the score and I stopped caring.

Yeah, pretty much every server does it. It’s not worth complaining about unless you want to be a pot. Though if I’m correct in what I’m looking at, that person is still on the spawn hill.

Maguuma and Ehmry Bay are like brothers!
We don’t hate each other, its a love/hate relationship.
Apart from SM and Guam I have no problem with anyone from Ebay.

Also to people saying they can’t find us, you might have to leave your spawn point once in awhile.

Yeah, you’re not the only one. I have like 20 clovers left (but uh, my last batch of attempts I ended up getting only 2 clovers out of 25 – wtf?). I only logged in once since the Wintersday update though, and spent that half hour in WvW.

It’s sad to see all this “chest pumping” in this forum. If people learned to compliment rather than boast and criticize other servers everyone would have a much more enjoyable experience. Good fight last week from Maguuma and Ehmry Bay.

I saw a lot of talent from Ehmry Bay and Maguuma in WvWvW battle last week. Mannnnnnnn, ehmry bay has some of the best elementalists I have seen so far!!! And the defensive power Maguuma has on towers and keeps is incredible. I respect both servers, however this “chest pumping” isn’t nice. Yaks Bend has some excellent 5 man groups that roam all Border Lands, the fact that you probably haven’t seen them is because they don’t go out of their way to gank people, they cap and do their job.

To [OG] from Maguuma: Please stop the chest pumping, I fought you guys on several occasions and I’m impressed by your skill. However you aren’t untouchable. Me and some 2 other guildies were running around on low level toons and got ganked by a group of ele’s and thiefs from your guild. You killed us a few times, /laugh or /dance on our corpses. We simply logged off, logged on to our mains, found you guys and wiped your group with only 3 of us. I’m not saying my guild is the best, I’m just asking you to stop boasting because you are not unstoppable…we stopped your whole party of 5 with 3 of us.

We don’t ever laugh or dance on corpses unless it is [SM] or deserved (same thing). Also, we RARELY ever have a full group of 5 when roaming, and we have NEVER been beaten by 3 when we have had 5.

We are not untouchable, we have definitely been beaten by equal numbers before.. it just doesn’t happen very often.

Hiding near their spawn area when we held most of the map. There was a skirmish going on of roughly equal numbers, and a few of us joined it. Could have been no more than 5 v 7 at that point (our side just randoms, not sure 3-5 OG) and we killed several of them, as they tried to kite back toward their spawn. At that point there was no strategic point to the fight and the couple guys I was with left. The OG guys were respawning coming back to their friends and I think then probably ganked a few of the remaining few guys that foolishly hung around, like always happens when you try to pin a team near their spawn too much.

There was nothing special about the fight whatsoever except for seemed like a lot theives and eles. Certainly no one beating three times their numbers.

Fights likes these are nearly irrelevant in the grand scheme of the match because nothing worth anything is being fought over. Even if 5 people kill the same 5 people over and over, without dying once, its still 5 players on both sides being tied up for an equal amount of time not helping their team with objectives. Kills don’t count for points on the scoreboard.

Reality is the downed state punishes small groups effectiveness relative to other games, which makes fighting over objectives so much more valuable than attempts at area denial.

Sometimes as much as Bunzy is as good as he claims (haven’t seen him in action on the field yet but i may) I wish he would keep his trolling or calling out of other 5 man gank squads just for a kitten duel… that’s what Fight club is for on Thursday…. As for all the Ebay and Yaks it has been fighting and i hope we keep this fight up even with the holidays amongst us. Bunzy if you’re going to keep your trolling up I wish you would return to Sorrows Furnace where you came from. I know for myself and i can’t speak for others that i see Maguuma as a place to have fun not be stressed about score but still play competitively. Don’t turn us into kitten trolls like you have been doing.

Hey, you guys are the ones needing to be the center of attention in this thread, dumping all over it with a playstyle irrelevant to the mode. If you are out there killing zergs with 5 people I think you need to be the one giving evidence. Go post some videos in their own threads or something, but stop cluttering up this thread. The scoreboard as well as what I’ve seen during these two weeks, show no impact of your team.

I’m pretty sure nobody cares enough about this whole elite gank squad business to bother taking videos of every encounter just to prove some non-existent point. Some servers focus on tangible results, such as the bar on the top of the screen that shows how many points you get. That’s evidence.

It’s sad that so many people here are replacing CD with Yaks for your latest subject of ridicule of being unskilled or whatever because you can’t beat these servers. Without exception, losers calling out winners just look silly.
