Despite the confusion. As stated in the OP, commentary is permitted in this thread.

I also understand there are some really interesting engagements taking place.

I was involved in an amazing 2v8 Godslore fight. It was an epic battle of Defender/Elementalist combo stacking against a divided foe. /bow to Fergie for an amazing fight.

It appears Kaineng will be moving out of the tier. FC and ET under tremendous pressure.

It will be a few weeks though before we get challenged on population I feel. Based on how DR has moved up. I think with the transfers we got were probably at a stronger position than DR is at population wise and coverage wise, we are almost sure to catch up with them and meet them in a higher teir wherever they begin to stall.

Some great fights tonight. I had the pleasure of commanding in a few of the BLs. Good job everyone from Kaineng!

Hello Kaineng!

After playing on your server for a week to finish my 100% map completion, I feel like I could give some food for thought.

As a die hard WvW player, I have been playing in tier 3 to tier 1 since I joined Guild Wars 2. I have seen a lot of different tactics and strategies used by most servers. That’s about all you should care about me.

Anyways, being a die hard WvW player, WvW is all I do on GW2, so of course I joined in on the fun on Kaineng from time to time.

Here is what I saw (and please do not take offensively but rather as constructive criticism to help improve in the future):
- Most PUG’s do not listen. They listen to an extent. They will sometimes follow you but that’s only half important in WvW. The other half is, as a commander, giving an order and the PUG’s volunteer to execute said order. (Ex. We are headed to Arah’s to supply up, can I get 5 of your to head to Vale to take it back, please type 1 in map chat if you will do this so other’s won’t head that way) or (Ex. I need 4 elementalist on me with a focus, we are going to try to counter treb their treb at briar from bay.). (Ex. Garrison was being taken in an enemy borderland. I am shouting for reinforcements, shouting which doors they are hitting, and shouting which siege to start building, I was the ONLY person in that Garrison! That is a BIG problem! Garrison is the absolutely last thing you want to lose if you can prevent it. These types of orders seem to fall on deaf ears sadly :/.
- Some PUG’s like to argue with the commanders. For example, I had one guy tell me last night “maybe it’s because we just don’t like that strategy.” Cool beans, but if there is only one commander on than whether or not you disagree with his strategy you should at least offer to help. I hope it will become apparent as I continue with this post as to why you should follow him.
- Siege placement and using that siege. Ok, last night I saw someone build a cata on the wall of south east bay. There was not a single arrow cart placed on that wall. Yea. I will explain more on how to improve on this in a bit.

Now, the above is just some problems off the top of my head. These are also crucial and major problems! You will get completely demolished in higher tiers if the above does not improve. I understand some of you think you’re Godlike with your numbers, but the numbers you field is only a 1/4 of the numbers that appear in tier 2+ at any given time.

What should you do about it? Well, right now you obviously have the population for higher tiers. Population. So right now you’re completing dominating ET and FC on sheer numbers alone. What you should be doing during this time is trying to improve on the above problems.

Things to consider doing RIGHT NOW:
- Try to run new tactics as a commander. If they fail? Who cares, you’re 200k+ points ahead and can easily PVDoor the tower/keep to regain. Right now is the PERFECT time to learn about counter siege and over all tactics without being discouraged or discouraging your PUG’s. You will NOT get this chance in upper tiers! I will emphasize that again, you will NOT get this chance in upper tiers! TAKE ADVANTAGE NOW!
- If you are a person who knows all the cool counter siege placement tricks, where arrow carts should go to hit optimal spots without being touched, etc etc, than start placing that siege. I understand you don’t want to waste your money and you feel it’s unimportant. Here is the deal though, people will start seeing that siege in the exact same place, day after day after day, they will remember this! So when it comes time to place their own siege, they will place it where they remember!

Anyways, I gotta finish getting ready for work so I don’t have time to type out a longer response, sorry. The above should get you started though. Please do not take this offensively, or see me as being on my “high horse”. If you choose to ignore these problems, than sooner or later you will have to own up to them. Let’s just hope your WvW population doesn’t abandon ship when the time comes for you guys to get wrecked due to failing to address these problems.

Hey Light! I was at Bay with you for a few hours last night, and I appreciate the info. Not to make excuses, but Kaineng hasn’t had a need to really worry too much about anything other than zerg and small group tactics until now – either we’ve been completely dominated (when DR was in T8 with us) or we completely overrun our competition with sheer numbers.

Your recommendations are noted, and we have some really good commanders who will, I’m sure, take them and work with them. I realize that you’ve only been here a short time, but I’ve already seen where some of our exemplary commanders take the time to teach WvW tactics to the masses of us that really don’t know any better (Krit Hit from [WM] comes readily to mind, although he isn’t the only one – just the one I’ve worked with most recently).

I agree with your assessment, Light. Kaineng is allergic to siege. I think it’s one of our greatest areas for improvement. You’d think with EB on lockdown more often than not there’d be more of us in the JP, getting free siege, stocking up for the higher tiers… but I’ve barely seen anyone in there. I can’t even count how many times I go to a tower under attack and there are 2-5 people standing there staring at the door health whittle away with full supply in the tower and neighboring camp held. Guys: enemy attacking door? Arrow cart it from behind the door! It’s super easy. Buys a lot of time for reinforcements.

As for PUGs and communication… yea. It’s painful. We’ll see how we learn under more pressure but I don’t think much will change until then.

ETA: I’d also like to add that you don’t have to know where to put siege 100% of the time. I’m crap at placing it. Absolutely terrible. But you know someone else probably knows it better than you; don’t be afraid to ask where a good place would be! I personally just give most of my siege to my GL. So that’s not an excuse either for not having it on you or using it. Asking questions like that helps facilitate more communication too. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

I really do hope you guys can pull it together and tie the loose ends. No doubt with WM on the server you guys will definitely be taught well. Those guys know their WvW!

My last day fighting against Kaineng, and my first day fighting with them. I have noticed a lot of situations where there’s still room to grow, yall do have numbers but the numbers FA/CD/YB, and even Maguuma have are great as well, lets see how far we can get.

Light, thank you for reporting on a particularly uplifting event. There is never a measure of skill to which there is no room for improvement. And no matter how good I am at my best, there will always be someone out there better, faster, or stronger than I am. And so, my greatest enemy is my overconfidence — my own ego. When I believe I am deserving (“seeking props”), I am not serving those that follow me — I am serving myself.

The three pillars of heroism are willingness, honesty, and an open-mind. Introspection humbly connects these three pillars when one is presented with constructive criticism (uplifting suggestions intended to bolster and improve).

I have had similar observations this match that Light has had; however, I have also had some remarkable learnings of my own where Kaineng (FC, and ET) have taught me new things. And that is a joy!

Kaineng is one family — extended perhaps with the odd cousin, rare uncle, and eccentric aunt — but one family. Let us be ever mindful of the risk of segregating individuals or groups from our family for either praise or coaching in public.

This is my first post, I saw this quote and thought it was my time…

People need to realise, its not about getting to the top. The bottom 3 tiers have been happy battling each other on a relatively even battle ground till the glory hounds from higher tiers could see they can come here and grab easy victories via over population.

I have been on FC since I started and as a whole our population has never cared whether winning or losing until this “server surfing” became a craze. First DR…now Kaineng. All we want like other servers are memorable battles, not zerg v 5.

Neo you speak of making it to higher tiers and the battle gets tougher, what then? Reinvent this great idea and drop to the lowest server and take them to the top?

Unfortunately for Kaineng, I believe their victories will be labelled as WM’s victories, nothing they can do about that, WM transferred at the right time when Kaineng was already making a move. With WM’s reputation people can only assume.

And your statement about “Kaineng being known as a server that worked together and welcomed new friends”…maybe for the uneducated. The Kaineng I know are the server that fought like the rest of us against the crushing weight of DR, put up great battles and know what it is like to face day after day the population imbalance until they became the new go to server.

To the original Kaineng population, I wish you luck in the coming move to T7, you have more than deserved it. I hope your new transfers stay true to you and don’t jump when things get tough, Why I believe our own ET have had that very experience if the rumours are true.

Sorry if you don’t like our move. It’s our first time transferring. Please visit our website, register and read our plans for the future. Also our new alliance includes guilds that are Kaineng pioneers and we share the same vent/forum and getting to know each other well. I respect all your opinions. But you don’t know the reason and what we have to go through to make this decision.

We are happy about the move. This is our new home now and proud to be part of it.

Guess not kinda defeats the idea of WvW………..

So instead I suppose the real question is, If these Larger guilds are so successful in the “Upper Tiers” why then do they feel the need to Transfer to a losing Server in the bottom tier?

I find it hard to believe that a successful, winning guild on a winning server in the upper/elite tiers would want to transfer unless they are coming from one of the loosing servers in that tier, OR maybe they are not as successful as they think they are simply riding the coat tails of the successful ones OR maybe they Kittened off other guilds in their server somehow (The reasons are endless and most of the time untruthful).

If they are as successful as they believe, and the move is simply a new challenge for them to overcome as a guild and grow,
Then the first step they take always seems to be the easiest one, go to the highest populated server in the bottom tier, Guaranteeing their success in the first week.
Great for morale but hardly a challenge if this was the motivation for the move.

Regardless of the motivation for the moves from higher tiers to lower ones.
When it comes to T8 there will ALWAYS be one constant rule……

The server with the highest pop will always prevail.

Everybody knows this, and this is why when guilds do transfer down they pick the highest pop’ed server in T8 to move to so they can say at the end of the day,

“When we transferred there we won in the first week aren’t we the Kittens!”

This constant rule and mentality will continue until transfers are made harder.

Best of luck to Kaineng as they progress through the tiers, even those who have only been Kaineng for 1 week.
For those who have been Kaineng since the beginning, don’t let the new kids in the yard steal your glory, I believe you had the numbers to win this week without them.

By the way I am from Ferguson’s Crossing and have been here since pre-release.
Do not however read this post and think I am complaining about being on the losing team, I am not.
Winning is a mind set, I WvW with a great group of people, we successfully take Camps, and the odd Tower, we even put up a good fight against the opposing Zergs from time to time (even if the odds are 3-5vs1) and we have fun doing it, and find it a challenge with the uneven odds we face daily (In my books that is a win even if it is just a small one).
We can’t yet call ourselves the “Winners” or the “Best” but hey, neither can any other Server, EXCEPT the No1 server in the 1st tier who actually ARE the “Winners” and the “Best” ….. for a week anyway. All the other tiers are just stepping stones and all the other servers are just ranked servers that “Didn’t win”.

I believe the servers will eventually even out, whether it comes from actions Arena Net take to force stability among the servers (Most Likely Sooner or Later) or Guilds finally finding server they are happy to stay on (Highly unlikely due to Human ego entering the equation and people caring too much about losing).
Until then Players in Tier 8 will continue to do what they do, be dominated by the highest populated sever of the 3……..

Actually ask anyone on the forums and I bet most will say that people transfer to the “winning” server.

Your post is the complete opposite of what everyne on these forums complain about with transfers. When a guild transfers everyne jumps on their case and asks. “If you really need a challenge than why not help a server from the lower tier?”

So it is quite amusing to read your post lol. The guild transfers just can’t win with anybody it seems.

I won’t be in W3 before reset, so I’ll just say so long for now Fergie and ET! It is the end of an era, combo breaker, etc. I hope there is no ill will towards us as I know we are a bit too big for this sandbox now, and that can cause people to dislike us, as we’ve seen in the past with others. Good luck to you both, we’ll fight again one day. I’ll be lurking your forum posts from now on instead. Weird.

After two weeks of total domination there is no reason to post a score for week 3 except to rub it in. We all know Kain fields 2-5 times (sometimes even more) the number of people either of the other two servers can do . Trust me, it had nothing to do with being more highly skilled that got Kain that high score.

Many of you were alright opponents, your server had at least one decent commander. Anyway best of luck. See you all back down here in 3-4 weeks.

One way or another, we’ll see NSP. They’re not in danger of moving to T5 anytime soon – so either we’ll move up by beating GoM and matching NSP in T6, or GoM will beat us, move to T6, and push NSP down. You’ll get your matchup. :-)

Oh I know, but man I was out for blood when it was looking like we would at the beginning of the week. Bloodlust shelved. :p

@Klaytax & @Divine, I think you two are in violent agreement. Strange as it may seem.

There is nuance, but I think we are witness to a case of a “many flavors of vanilla” argument — and we might be losing sight of the fact that such a debate should focus on the substance of ice cream or cake. The social effects (cultural imperialism, behavioral steers, expectation shifts, etc) would make for a fascinating new thread. :P

Anywho, the 12/28 week is done, stick a fork in it. Time to eat new meat.
