It really is a shame, because not all FA players post whining rants, same as not all TC players put up gloating posts.

Sure, a certain amount of it is going to come out when the same two servers face off continuously, because familiarity breeds contempt and all that, but we all really should try to curb the asinine behavior. The reason we respected YB as much as we did is that they (for the most part) tried to keep it civil and in good fun. We should try to do the same.

search back to the TC/FA/DB match thread. (a match, coincidentally, i was hoping would happen as i expected it to be pretty even after BG stomped us for a week) and you’ll see that thread is filled with posters from FA complaining ad nauseam as well as attempting to discredit our victories and blatantly insult our intelligence. fast forward to the next TC/FA match, and it’s more of the same. the next match, even more. the next match…. well, you get the picture. when the TC/YB/CD match came about, someone from YB made a comment that they were glad to get away from FA’s whining. when FA came back up to tier 3, something new came with them. the conspiracy theories and bragging about winning a battle while losing the war.

essentially, the image that’s being built for FA is that of the annoying kid that lives down the street that everyone just wants to punch in the head, including the parents. until that image is changed, it’s always going to put a target on your head. simply for satisfaction’s sake. the first few times, it could be brushed off. but patience is a finite thing, and does eventually get eroded away. so you get what we had yesterday, and will most likely have for at least the next few days. a lot of steam has been building up, so it will take a while before it’s all let off.

You come on the forums and brag, talk badly about our skills, tactics, and players. Then when we respond you act all indignant as if we are terrible for saying anything. You call us childish and deny any wrong-doing in the thread.

It hasn’t been just this week but pretty much the whole time we have played you. It has gotten old and frankly we want to be rid of you as much as you rid of us. After last night’s silly back-and-forth and today’s terrible real-world events, I’ve decided this will be my last post in this thread and there are far more important things to think about. Good luck on the field.

@Sharpclaw – you are a good guy and a great player but Phantom is right. He didn’t say anything to reflect badly on us. He’s just saying what most of us are feeling right now and getting persecuted by FA on the forums for.

I understand your point Sharpclaw but it doesn’t reflect poorly on TC. Not in my eyes.

Please do not forfeit that tenacity. If anything, I want to see that level of fire more often so I might catch some of it when I have an opportunity to play over the holiday weeks.

People seem to think that strong-willed PvP is some negative result, and it’s boggling my mind. Any “going through the motions” WvWing makes me sad.

Anyway, I’ve had a lot of fun in this match. Most notably a bit of fun last night with a few other random players who are generally hanging around TCBL, chasing at least twice our number of [OBEY] guild out of Titanpaw and all the way down the east side of the map killing their stragglers the whole way, finishing off the last couple as they swam toward the south shore of the lake. Nothing like the screams and laments of your enemy as they flee in vain.

And to that FA warrior who kicked my kitten on thief outside redlake an hour ago, geez man, nice sword, lol. That was a fun duel, I gotta figure out where you got that perma-venom buff…. You are good enough without it though probably.

Yeah it’s pretty sad, 20 children dead, 6 adults dead is the count at the moment (at least that’s what the media is saying.)

I’ve been away from the genre for too long, I forgot how hateful teenagers can be. I’ve posted in this WvW section maybe 4 times in the past 24 hours and I’ve seen more than my fill of ridicule, sweeping generalizations, whining, boasting, finger-pointing and every other form of trash. Yikes. You guys can keep this forum to yourselves, I’m out!

I am considering that the Team Dolyak ([DOLY]) mini guild will have flashyak mobs throughout the match. Once I get the guild bank going we can distribute party foods, fireworks and ruminant tonics to all members, and announce meeting times and places through the Message of the Day.

All members can invite new members, so you can invite your friends if you are already in DOLY.

I can’t wait to see a group of enemies suddenly turn into Dolyaks and stampede around.

All I got to say is when I get on, nothing that happened before my play time affects me, I usually get on and rally my guild to retake everything we lost(if our commanders aren’t online). Sometimes it’s a long battle but sometimes we are able to gain momentum and the only thing that upsets me is how easy we can retake our holdings back when I get on but the day crew on FA has no organization to stop this from happening. If you are in FA and reading this follow our commanders and read team chat. Also don’t join a commanders squad, it will remove the other commanders from your map.

I want to get a call to defend Bay, Hills or Garrison because it is under attack and then when I peek over the walls there is a gigantic herd of Dolyaks that have us penned in. Hoofageddon!

oh, i’m not throwing a fit. i’m just explaining the situation as it stands. for better or for worse.

Phantom, I’d have to say, I see a lot more people from TC expending a lot more energy complaining about FA complaining about them, than I see FA complaining about TC.

And as I’ve said, our threads (up until the dolyak incident at least) have been extremely mild mannered by comparison to most server threads.

The only real time I can remember FA people complaining about TC was a couple people complaining about getting 2v1’ed by TC and YB. And many people on FA, myself included, pointed out they were whining about nothing and 2v1’s are part of the game.

You seem very, very intent upon taking the disgruntled posts from literally few enough posters I could count them on the fingers of one hand, and using it slander/smear FA as a whole.

But I will point out that if you are angry an FA poster is unfairly smearing the entire TC server…it’s not right to respond by unfairly smearing the entire FA server.

how many FA posters ,specifically, are guilty of posting things that make you unhappy? Be aware that I will ask you to back up your number with quotes.

Is it 3 people? 5 people perhaps?

Don’t think you think it’s unfair to draw conclusions about an entire server from just 5 people?

Or is it more? 40 people? 200 people?

I’ve never said anything bad about TC as a server -in fact I’ve repeatedly expressed admiration for you guys. How come you aren’t willing to assume the general sentiment on FA isn’t more like what I post instead of what a few bad apples post?

I’m sorry, sarcasm is so difficult to convey in text…. I think the backlash over a Dolyak is hilarious.

We’re winning, I have no need to whine about anything.

If a little forum drama brings more players to WvW then I am all for it.

The Yak Thing, I knew it was going to happen when I showed up and saw the vast majority of people in attendance being TC and CD. There were a few FA (you’re awesome) but as soon as I saw who was there I mumbled “Oh, here we go…”

No, I don’t think anyone on TC is really upset, just a little disappointed that select FA participated the way they did.

I think we are all looking for excuses to bash skulls. In my case, I think some mock outrage is entertaining. No I don’t really want to “Make FA BLEED!” but that doesn’t stop me from using that spirit in /team to rally people together and take some towers/keeps.

Give TC some reason to do some light-roleplay and we will.

Now, back to your regular faux-outrage.

as i said, i’m simply explaining the situation as it stands, for better or for worse. i’m not angry, i’m simply the messenger. if you look back through literally any match thread, you can see it for yourself.

also, you did a hack job on my quote. the part you excluded was just as important as the part you chose to focus on. for reference, the part that you excluded was “the image that’s being built for FA”. when the full context is seen, it tells quite a different story than the one you’re trying to paint. which also doesn’t help your cause very much either.

now, this is the situation we all find ourselves in. trying to argue it away isn’t going to change things. it is what it is.

When all is said and done, and Appledainty and [Team Dolyak] are long forgotten, I think its important to look back on this and gain a bit of understanding. Griefers have been ruining roleplaying events for years and years and I’m pretty sure they will continue. Sure it was a WvW zone, and sure it was expected that someone would try to mess it all up, but what wasn’t expected, was that the roleplayers might actually strike back and get the last word.

TC’s roleplaying population is the number 1 reason TC is the best t3 server, and their attitude and enthusiasm for turning what would normally seem mundane in WvW into something important is to be respected. I was at the event not because I roleplay, but because I wanted to show I support them as much as they help us in WvW, and I’m pretty sure many others in [PINK] felt the same way.

Griefing doesn’t have to happen, and we don’t have to constantly defend it like its just part of the game and they were just asking for it. You want to grief people on my server and I’m going to help make sure there’s a cost.

That being said, I had much fun, both in the event and the aftermath culminating in a huge server cheer when FA’s points finally hit zero. That’s the way I’ll remember the event, the day TC came together to make a point.

I would be remiss to make any post without saying my heart goes out to the families suffering today and I pray for a day when we can all solve our issues in a video game and not have to take it to real life.

I’m done with it and you can vilify my choice to admit I don’t like you (not a sentiment our whole server shares), but at least I’m honest about it. If you don’t want to bother reading the posts from your own server where members act up and choose to believe you are all saints, there isn’t much I can do about it right? All I was doing is saying how I felt about your server’s attitude toward us. How is that vile? You choose to cut out the parts of my post that explain the overall thoughts. Having played BG and SoR, I can safely say TC isn’t on their level. However, the matches I did play with them were pretty much 1v1 affairs as the other server tended to give up and not play.

If TC played like we did last night, we would be in T2 and getting “nightcapped” hard, but we would be competitive in T2. I know that yesterday isn’t our normal level of play/players since Borderlands never have queues except on the weekend. Also from a commander point of view, people were very focused yesterday as well, I loved it, it made my role as a commander easy.

Overall, I am not upset at the matchmaking setup they have. If we want change, we have to go out and get it. That change for TC is more likely T2 than T4. That same match-making system reflects it.

I kinda thought it would be held today, at the start of Winters Day. I’m still glad it happened…and though griefers did show up, I heard folks still made it across with Fluffyhooves. :’3

It was a fun idea while it lasted!

No offence is taken of course, but I think our fortunes have not waned so much. Rather, they are at the mercy of the ratings system (and were just a little at the mercy of TC). Over the 3 weeks YB fought TC and FA, YB improved the rating difference between us and FA from ~45 points to ~15 points, so there was really very little difference between these two servers. YB was then displaced by CD coming up after a big win in tier 4 because our rating was the lowest in tier 3 by just 15 points. YB doesn’t have the overnight population to achieve such a win and because of the way the rating system works YB is losing rating despite winning by ~50K. It would take a few weeks, but that rating could start climbing again.

But then again, maybe fortune worked in our favour as it is now in our own hands and I think, winning aside, it has been an enjoyable week in WvW for YB.
