15-20 Man guild groups and builds
Two healing staff/hammer guardians and three shout/banner/hammer warriors in each party. Take 3-4 parties and watch everything melt. Clerics or PVT work best. Everything you need including massive healing, control, stability, boons, condition removal, tons of AoE damage, built in rezzing, lots of armor and big HP pools.
All you have to do is keep your stack tight while moving and never sit still. Oh and it is stupid easy to play.

We run our 15-20 man group against constant 40+ groups and have found that the tanky Doesnt work well for us. We go more DPS heavy melee train. Warriors run hammerstun, with valk/cav mix gear. Guards run valk/cav shout. Few eles run celestial, random necro peppered in for good measure and ideally 1 mesmer.
Proper movements and resets with water fields keep us up. No we dont win every fight, but it is a blast and nice tp get away from map blobs.
The builds/comps come in time. Everyone e is different. You need to find 15-20 people who are willing to die over and over to find that magic mix that works for you. That is the real challenge.

5 guards, 4 ele, 2 warriors, 3 necro, 1 mes
its worked for us.
All pvt warriors and cleric guardians means you will NEVER have sufficient dps to deal with larger groups.
Perhaps 1 boon duration cleric guard but the rest of your heavies should bring the deeps. Also power well necros.

Corruption removes boons by per tick so it’s not all at one go.
Also, a great driver can out maneuver the those wells given a big enough area. End of the day all builds being equal more or less, driver is key. Case in point, Scarx.
