I have been opposed to 1U1D for a long time. Because it creates an situation where you have alternating decent weeks with completely horrible weeks. That is until server linkings created more equal servers and an initial state where the rankings are not necessarily correct. Plus we have a set period of time where the matches will be in effect so it won’t go on forever.

In fact it would have worked wonderfully in the current linking period. (For NA that is, I don’t know about EU but hopefully its not too different.) Here are the matches that would have resulted if 1U1D were in place for the current linking for NA:

Week 1: BG/TC/YB; DB/Mag/FA; JQ/SoS/SBI; DH/SF/CD
Week 2: TC/BG/DB; YB/FA/JQ; Mag/SoS/CD; SBI/SF/DH
Week 3: TC/DB/JQ; BG/YB/Mag; FA/SoS/SBI; CD/SF/DH
Week 4: DB/TC/JQ; JQ/Mag/FA; YB/SoS/CD; SBI/SF/DH
Week 5: DB/BG/JQ; TC/Mag/YB; FA/SoS/SBI; CD/SF/DH
Week 6: BG/DB/TC; JQ/Mag/FA; YB/SBI/CD; SoS/SF/DH
Week 7: BG/DB/JQ; TC/Mag/SBI; FA/CD/SoS; YB/SF/DH
Week 8: BG/DB/TC; JQ/Mag/FA; SBI/SoS/YB; CD/SF/DH

Or it could have been different. SBI could have beat SoS in Week 3 and everything could’ve been different. Or FA could’ve beat Mag (or Mag beat FA in W1). Or TC could’ve beat BG in Week 4. Or… or… or. I could’ve been very different. Varitey. It looks like with the server linkings we are all much closer in population than previously so 1U1D could create fantastic varitey while also creating decent matchups.
