Equally geared and skilled could go either way. After the buffs to necro I’ve had better luck with Mesmers, but I can still get embarrassed by one from time to time if I mess up, have skills on cool down, etc.

For me it seems to come down to key dodges, hopefully blinding when they use phrases, whether of not they break fear, and if I can transfer conditions with putrid mark which can be tough with all of their movement.

Equally skilled will be a very good fight but probably over very quickly. I think at lower skill caps you’ll see more Necros win and at the highest skill you’ll probably see more mesmers win.

I would vote for the necro. I actually try to avoid necros whenever possible since mesmers just lack the cleanses required to win this.

Hard to say. The necro doesn’t have a hard counter to shatter + distortion bursts, and also doesn’t have much to do against their dazes and stuns. The mesmer can’t stealth to avoid all of the damage done (epidemic on phantasm says hi), and also many mesmers are lacking effective enough condition cleansing and stun breaks to deal with them.

if they belong to Far Shivers they will run and hide until they have a zerg.

Mesmer should draw or win most fights given equally well skilled players and solo builds. The mesmers ability to reset the fight gives them a massive advantage in 1v1. Necros shine fighting large groups where many of their abilities can effect a large number of players not in solo play IMO.
