I don’t think CD is a tier 7 server at all. Your Oceanic/Euro timezone coverage is great and your NA coverage isn’t bad. CD is holding it’s own during NA prime time compared to YB’s non-prime time.

Not quite empty. I saw about 10 CD defending the inner wall. CD’s oceanic numbers did appear to be significantly reduced though. Combine that with an unusually large turnout from YB & we have managed to keep most of our points, at least so far. By know most of us will have gone off to work so it may be a very different story in an hour or so.

I like how YB is starting to throw thinly veiled statements that “CD is only competitive because they got a bunch of oceanic bads”

First of all, CD could use the same sentence for the NA prime time. So quit the “prime time” discussion because as it happens ours are not at the same time. We’d be evenly matched if it was and that’s that. And our oceanics have a holiday this week, so let them be.

Also, after seeing YB camp the JP for two straight days I’ve decided that all YB are KOS in jp’s from now on. A shame because we got along for almost two weeks without campers. The other day I made sure that CD players camped the JP because YB wasn’t allowing anyone up.

Usually not a problem for me since I have gone through the arena campers undetected, but very annoying anyways.

From what I gather, YB its upset when its losing points when outmanned, but happy when they are gaining points when they have superior numbers? Whats wrong with this picture? On a side note we also hit a borderlands queue for the first time this, lasted for about an hour.

Dont cry about off peak coverage, you clearly have more numbers then CD/SBI most of the time. If CD has 6 hours where it has more people then you, so be it.

And i will remind anyone that wants to whine about different prime time, please look up on servers like SoS, BG, SoR, JQ and Kaineng. No such thing as prime time. It’s always prime time over there. Night capping will be the least of your worries. If you have decided to stay in your server and fight, then you fully appreciate the strength and weakness of your server. Making sarcastic remarks about “night” capping just make you sound bitter. You whine when you get steamrolled yet when you can’t steamroll another server, you whine too. If any server deserves to whine, it’s IoJ and SBI who has been hit the hardest by the end of free transfers. CD was hit pretty hard too but not to the extent of those two servers.

Funny thought just came to mind. If CD wasn’t hit by so many transfer away from us and we were facing YB. Instead of whining about night capping, pretty sure they will be whining about how we “zerg” everyone to death.

The thing is, even if there were Oceanic servers in addition to NA and Euro, coverage is still a primary factor because servers are running 24/7. That’s Anet’s design.

To make the servers truly regional, they would have to add some mechanic to make taking stuff difficult or impossible during a server’s “off hours”, which would only punish those who play during those times.

The tiered system isn’t ideal, but it’s how we get matched up with similar servers. Especially now that free transfers are over.

So silly of Anet for marketing the game to us “Non-Americans”. Maybe they should consider refunding our money and time and banning all “Non-American” IP addresses then. Technically, you are also “night capping” us when YB has alot more people on while we sleep. Your point works both ways. The fact that you keep harping on the difference between “day” and “night” simply doesn’t make any sense seeing that WvW is MEANT to be 24/7. We are both in T4 having this argument because we both lack coverage at some point of the 24/7. As i mentioned previously, there are a few servers with 24/7 coverage. If you really feel so strongly about this matter, please consider them. Please show us the civility and respect you have demonstrated at the beginning of this match up or it’ll become nothing more than hypocrisy.

Oh, That could be true. Many of the players u mentioned are probably camping JP at another server now. Nowadays, we camp JP only when one particular guild or server kitten us off too much, and we haul in our entire guild to wipe that faction. Otherwise, we just chat with our friendly opponents while waiting for our mesmer to beam us up.

As stated in a thread in the last match up, servers push for Tier 1 so hard, put so much emphasis on it, thinking its the Holy Grail. Go read some SoR comments in the Tier 1 thread now. I cant say im surprised to see them say they hate it. I could care less about the score and care more about being camped to the point I cant leave the spawn with 10 people only to see 50-60 Yaks starving for a kill. Keep the points, get me some good fights. Less emphasis or care on points, more on good fights. Most of the people benefitting from WvW buffs dont do any WvW, so other then chest thumping to someone you outnumber, its really a wash.

Enough with the night capping worry posts. Let them do it. Say CD comes back and wins, if you know it was mostly from night capping, who cares? IF YB wins from having superior numbers, who cares? Fight to fight, for no other reason.

There’s a big gap between Tier 3 and Tier 4, so whoever moves up is going to probably get blasted.

From the way Anet set up the tiers, it would appear that Tier 1 is the ultimate goal to “win” WvW. But it really isn’t. The tiers are merely a matchmaking system to try and achieve quality WvW for all servers.

Honestly, if all those bunny hopping “elite guilds” actually understood this we’ll already have fun tiers and a fun WvW by now.

As for nightcap whiners, TC has been “nightcapped” by every server forever and battered every single night by true 24/7 servers since moving up to T2 2 months back, but I think we’ve kept our threads fairly clean and our spirits fairly high. Fight hard when you are on, and if that isn’t enough then it just means the other server has more numbers at the right timings and are rightly getting more points because that’s how the system works. I dunno about the other guys, but the YB I remember playing 2 months ago came out every day and fought their darndest even though they were the underdogs and clearly outnumbered in T3. There’s a lot of respect around TC for that spirit – please keep it until our servers can meet again some day!

Most of the commanders I run with, Being Bannock, Rice and Cicc understand on SBI that we need to keep it moving. We are fairly efficient and have vastly improved our communication and organization since all the rats jumped ship. We have a lot of up lvled kittens in WvW who need some training. Map chat has been fairly productive other me shouting out how we needed to grow some cojones and not let any server push us around our own BL. :p

Our biggest issue, other then lacking in numbers has been the lack of tower/keep defense. I think the few of us that focus on placing siege got our point across yesterday, as we had pretty much everything upgraded and sieged up in our BL for the night crew and it was a lot smoother. Having waypoints in Bay and Hills are key as we constantly had to brush off the breakout event from CD/YB. Seeing a steady improvement.

To the YB players in this thread, please stfu about the oceanic shift. It is what it is. As long as we play well during the time that we can control that’s all that matters. That’s what’s fun.

To the CD players, please stop trying to misrepresent the coverage differential as a mirror image, and please stop trying to publicly rationalize every reason you can think of that YB might do well, other than that have good players.

It is not a good sign when these threads degenerate and use old arguments that have been talked about since the day.

There is no such thing as night capping. It is a 24 hour game and it is primetime somewhere in the world. Although I play oceanic I have watched CD Asian crew come on and turn the map their colour. I dont call that night capping as I am still up awake and trying my best to make them fight for everything. I think I would be more than happy if we had a similar group on the map but we dont and there is nothing we can do about it. Good luck CD.

However what we do do is to mitigate the ppt as quickly as possible. Some stay up later and some get on earlier and that has been in my opinion has been the major difference this week. So the length of time that there is a difference has been greatly reduced.

I personally think that all WVW should have been based in one centre. All EU and NA together. That would have given a more even balance for all servers. Before you say there would be terrible lag issues only worse let me point out that our EU players notice no difference playing with us on yaks as opposed to say desolation. They come becuse they prefer to wvw with us

As a result of free transfers server populations have been volotile to say the least. I feel very sorry for servers that lost so called elite guilds who felt they were better than the rest of their team and moved to tier1 2 or indeed 8. The free transfer went on for far too long. Now we are left with significant population differences that in some creative way Anet needs to balance out.

Whether or not any of our servers go up a tier this poulation difference will become apparant. The spread of coverage locks tiers so that movement is very difficult without transfers in. Look at the discussion thread about tier 8 , 1 server too strong for the other 2 yet that is likely never to change. I would hate to be in that state there would be no fun any week.

This week has had some great fighting both small and large. There have been many tales of winning against the odds. Sometimes I think we delude ourselves into thinking we are the only ones with small numbers. I can tell you from my experience I have jumped all over the map putting out spot fires with only a handful to back me up.

Camping the jumping puzzle now is that not something pvers do. It is very seldom I even go near the place. Why would you be there when your keep has no walls. If you do get a slack time I might consider it but more likely to jump map. What am I going to do with my extra 5k badges now get more !! I remember someone saying to a pver this week. He wanted a poi and before I could respond some came back with “see that green tower over there just wander over and get it”………“OOps I forgot to say take a 100 others with you.” To me this was a priceless moment.

Thankyou CD SBI for a great 2 weeks of fun I am sure we will have many fun encounters in the weeks months to come. At the end of the day if you have fun that is really all that matters. If you watch the score (all of the time) then too bad too sad it is not always going to be your way.

No offense intended, on other days I will get ‘excited’ (hurray for cenorship) whenever there is mention of good food. To be honest, I wish all oceanic players could be on during the NA primetime hours, and that SBI had more people. I’d love to see the scores so even that it could be anybodys game…but alas, I don’t have a genie to grant me that wish.

For once I will want to see SBI being first. Don’t get me wrong, CDs & Yaks have the right stuff, but SBI is pretty good when they have enough numbers.

To my repliers earlier; emoting over a corpse you killed 5 to 1 is bad sportsmanship, period. Running away from a 1v1, especially from a ranger is just cowardly. That is all I’ve got to say about that.

In other news, I really didn’t know CD was a oceanic heavy server till after we started fighting yaks. I usually like being the under dog but fighting desperate battle after another during NA hours is tiring. I reallly reallly hope we don’t move up another tier… ;_;

Lorelei, I’d prefer if we just stayed here, or if they rearranged the tiers so we fought 2 other servers with the same setup as us. I’d love to have equal fights during the day AND night.
