It looks like YB is slated to go to T3 if the scores stay relatively the same as it is now. I think we should take it easy for the rest of the week and enjoy the new year for a bit if we don’t want to be the ones to get pushed up and be slapped around by two giants. It’s probably still not ideal as maguuma also has higher population, but EBay could be an interesting new opponent

Because frankly, having fought them when we still had the numbers and before some of the guilds left CD, I can say with certainty that you do not have the numbers to face off against them, if you’re still having a hard time with us.

I dont think anyone wants to go up to T3. I logged in tonight hoping that CD would overtake us with points during early hours…. it was mixed feelings seeing us in the lead by a big margin.

We can “compete” during prime time, maybe keep pace a bit, but after that we have no coverage. So T3 wont go too well

I salute. Never said you shouldn’t back down from a fight. In fact, I’d be disappointed if you guys cowered down. Keep it up, and get better; so you guys can remain in t3 in the least or get higher.

I still see next week shaping up as YB/CD/EB, which should be a very good match. Yaks opening weekend is still affecting the projections but each day it gets eaten into a little bit, even if not as much as last week, and by the end of the week I think we will remain below Mag and end up staying in T4.

This was a long and painful fight in this tower. I just wanted to prove to my guys that they can take it even if we lose it. >3< I needed to shout a lot and even appeal to their manhood. >3< but they did it. And YB capped it back easily ahah.

The sheer volume of bad commanders is staggering. SBI can only compete with servers that we outnumber them. Every time someone poses a different strategy, you are met with ridicule and harassment. If you refuse to join the SBI team-speak server or make a comment about how you don’t like to join a chat, ridicule.

If you call someone out for hypocrisy and horrible tactics with colorful names, they report you.

If you call out someone who wants to just use the JP instead of actually helping, they report you

Voice your displeasure over getting rolled by a numerically inferior force, they call you a band wagoner and try to harass you to leave the server.

Lose one battle, “lets make havoc squads” Instead of “lets change our tactics and try again” This is against equal numbers. (no outmanned buff showing)

I could go on, but ANET is far to politically correct and wanting to cater to the weak minded for me to be truly honest.

Not sure what server Lebannen plays on but I don’t see this ever happening in team or map chat on SBI in wvwvw and I am on most nights. Characters are Siiigh or Gravypants and I have run with every commander on SBI and saying only one, Isolani, is competent is a complete farce. If you feel this way about SBI maybe you should jump ship like all the others. Coming on the forums and commenting as you did, does nothing for the server and really is just a selfish rant full of misconceptions. In the future if you have issue take it up on the SBI website or talk to the commanders.

Being on YB, I don’t know if that’s true or not. But I do know that things are generally much harder when morale is down. Suffering a mass exodus of players and being in a too high of tier definitely qualifies as challenging.

My impression (maybe completely wrong, I dunno) is that SBI has improved over last week. If they move down one more tier I suspect morale will come back quickly and WvW will be a lot more fun.

Of course, it could be the opposite for us if we move up a tier. lol

Okay, today was a fun day. YB and SBI were kicking our kitten and SBI not for the first time this week was on top of things in our prime time. Good for you guys.

Not sure what server Lebannen plays on but I don’t see this ever happening in team or map chat on SBI in wvwvw and I am on most nights.

I always take posts like his from servers that have been put through the wringer for weeks with a grain of salt. It can be really frustrating fighting an overwhelming force week after week (having suffered Kaineng, couple weeks of the newly formed FA as well as the mass exodus from CD I can understand the frustration).

I remember that week. >3< It took a lot of massaging bruised egos and building the community again. >3<

Gravy, every family has its problem child, don’t take this one personally. We have some awesome Commanders who are trying to do much with a limited number of players. If Lebannen ever bothered to listen on the community ts instead of griping about it, he would understand the tactics involved at any given time.

Lebannen, seriously, we took a monstrous population hit and we are trying to rebuild the entire community. Try being part of the solution.

Its ok. Troll looked hungry so I threw him some yak meat ;p. I feel for YB since they will be moving up a tier and they may suffer a bit for lack of numbers/coverage. Will miss fighting you all in SBI BL, but look forward to having our keep back in EB. Haven’t we given you enough ransom, in form of loot bags, in exchange for our keep? :/

I have tried being a part of the solution. I have offered numerous alternatives in strategies being currently being used. SBI in the mornings (about 8am-11am CST) usually follows 1-3 of the same commanders and they are horrible so I avoid them if all possible. I cant tell you how much easier it is to get things done without the same failure of leadership, tactics and overall morale if you get away from them. We all know who they are, just cant call out names on Anet forums.

I am taking into account of the population difference, the fact that these same commanders will take a tower or keep. Not perform any type of sweep or preparations for defense, not run supplies to build siege for the inevitable counter attack. (which CD does with surprising reliability.) If the goal is to farm badges, this is your opportunity. During a keep defense, solo, as an engineer in about an hour I can farm 65-80 badges no, that is not much compared to running in a small group but it is worthwhile. I have hundreds of siege stored, just from farming badges. I would love to see YB/CD’s real non-politically correct opinion and open strategy on SBI.

Why? they know that we (SBI early morning) does not have experience to do these small measures that will prolong (not stop) CD and sometimes YB from overtaking us. Again, when you bring these things up. You are ignored, when it is during the process you get slammed for bringing it up. Demoralization, not so much. Aggravation that you try and tell people that X is coming, Y will happen and Z is the solution. SBI will just post the SBI Teamspeak info. Then you log into it, and they are talking about some farfetched crazy sequence of events that might happen if you stand on one leg and dance to. (slight exaggeration)

Hiding behind the population exodus is a poor excuse. It happened get over it. Adapt, improvise, overcome should be our motto; not “if you don’t listen to commander leave server” And I could post names and screenshots of all of this. Last time I did, I was hit with a warning. Then, I am going to make sure I find out, who is the hypocrite and transfers off the server then post their names as well.

Completely agree. SBI have some good players. Just morale must be horrible and of course they do not have numbers frequently enough to be effectual. Tier5/6 and you will be rocking

First week, everything was civil. Good fights between everyone and all, informal truce in JPs even.

Second week, all of YB seemed to have turned real BM. T-bagging people after kills, camping JPs etc.

Let them move up a tier and eat some humble pie.

Really dont matter where we go, so long as we can get some good fights. A huge problem we have on SBI is most unguilded pugs log on nightly and expect to blitz the whole map. Then, they notice we barely have enough to start break out, do a LOL SBI then leave. This is still quite new, as in the previous months one could attach themselves to WM, SF, SAHP, LoD or even CaLM and just exist their way to a win. Those days are long gone. Newer people are trying to step up and help. Some guilds have taken a bigger role now then before. If we hit tier 8, then so be it.You want to run around with us check me out on Friday night. Clearly though, venting here does not accomplish anything.

It isn’t everyone. I could also point out several people who agree with me but are scared of repercussions and being called out publicly. I don’t play in the evenings, as I am either in school or traveling home. Then multiple hours of studying takes up more game time.

The people I am referencing, are on in the mornings. I can not stress this enough, those are the ones who have pushed me over my limit. Normally, I would not even given this a second’s notice. When I was reported for not following a commanders orders, and when people decided to follow me instead of a commander I was reported. There was no foul language, there was not any animosity towards anyone. I was simply reported and warned because I did not follow the commanders lead and thereby “detrimentally impeding on others game play” Notice the quotations What was the result? we took Garrison. Wow, such a negative consequence! I have even had guild members of certain commander(s) message me and complain. Why? are they just attempting to placate me? doubtful.

After all of that, I don’t care. I am out to do my own thing and I will rip every stupid commander mistake I witness in game chat period. When the morning crew gets wrecked by an inferior numbered force which usually happens. I will call out the tactics they used.

If they are just zerged into oblivion I don’t say anything because the siege isn’t powerful enough to hold back masses of players. I cant help to laugh at these blue icons who place siege right in LOS or in range of AE. There is no creativity, just a giant blueprint of failure.

Honestly, what would spending the 100g accomplish? To get a nifty blue tag? No. I wont become one until I feel I have earned it. That is the core problem behind the commander system anyone can become one with 100g. You can buy the gems, or get people to donate it to you. Nothing earned. It is just a money sink right now in its current iteration.

My limited view on the future of tier 4. I think CD & YB are stuck with each other. We have very different coverage but at the end of the week the points should generally end up not to far apart. One or the other may occasionally make a trip to tier 3 & get soundly thrashed before returning to tier 4. EBay will replace SBI who will dominate tier 5. SBI is much stronger than the IoJ we saw just a couple of weeks ago. EBays numbers & coverage are not all that different from us Yak’s. It could have quite easily been YB that went to tier 5 rather than EBay a few weeks ago.

If Maguuma was to return to tier 4 I doubt it would be for long. Some Mag players say that they lost a lot of their new transfers to Kaineng soon after Mag stomped us & entering tier 3. The fact that Mag can still score respectable points against DB & FA leads me to believe that they are still much stronger than the old Mag that incidentally not all that many months ago used to complain about YB only winning because we ‘night capped’ them.

The good news is which ever way you look at it, once EB replace SBI, tier4 will regularly offer close matches going forward. Not all tiers are so lucky.

I usually do my own thing. However, most of the time early in the morning. There is not much action.

If Im wrong? If I was taking a numerically superior force and lose to a group half of my size without siege assist. No matter if you agree with me or not, that is wrong. Horrible tactics were used, plain and simple.

Who decides on who is right or wrong? simple. On SBI, it is whoever is the most popular or well known determines who is right.

I find SBI is still doing quite well, considering our lack of numbers. Many nights we are able to retake our entire borderlands and defend from enemy incursions, and then make a dent in EB.

Most of the commanders I have ran with have been decent, as well. And the player’s attitudes surprisingly good considering our situation. Lebannen, maybe it’s just the time of day that you play (I play nights and weekends normally) but don’t think that it’s this way all the time. I barely notice any drama when I play, except for the occasional lone troll (that I’m sure every server has).

I love SBI. I still have fun in WvW and win fights. Score means nothing, it’s all about the battles! FOR STORMBLUFF!

I haven’t fought a single SBI in the past two weeks that hasn’t teabagged/danced/jumped on my corpse after running over me with 6-10 people while I’ve been solo.

I’ve only run into 1 group of CD that had the courtesy to roll over me with their roaming ball of doom and continue on their way without performing said “OMG I R AWESOME FOR ZERGROLLING OVER YOU!” emotes either.

So since we’re playing the generalizations game this must mean that all of SBI and CD are jack-kitten filled servers.

earlier when flipping camps 6 other people and i steamrolled a lone under leveled guardian SBI defender. i applaud his bravery in fighting us, and for trying to provide a vital service to his map when no one else would.

after that 2 people that where not part of my group (random unguilded players) started jumping on his corpse. everyone in my group told them to stop, made it very clear that that kind of behavior isn’t alright and asked them to please show some class.

these kinds of players that show themselves to be bad sports are in every server. so to are players that are paragons of honor and fair play.

don’t judge a server too harshly by the lowest members of its population.

If that is it, it is a trick we learned from our opponents many many
Months ago. Many servers have learnt to counter this trick (u figure out yourself). No one complain about it for weeks and some of the opposing guilds even complimented us and wanted to train their Mesmer on this trick within their guilds.

I am tempted to insult you back for insulting us, but we are generally nice people, so We will reject your claims of exploiting, cheerfully and thank the gods that Anet left these tricks and treats that we can use, to out manuvuer our opponents.

Just because you saw others doing it doesn’t make it right. It is an exploit and don’t try to justify it otherwise. Don’t give CD a bad rep.

I do not support using exploits, I have seen it done by SBI and YB and even my fellow CD players, and as always, I report it.

Agreed. I believe SBI will do just fine in Tier5 and frustrations are to be expected considering the circumstances. I wish them well

So much to offer in criticisms of the commanders. And you don’t care to become one. Even though obviously you know all the right tactics to use, and when to use them.

You also deem yourself unworthy of commanding. Yet you are worthy enough to criticize every action, and expect to be considered right? Try walking in a commander’s shoes sometime, and then you can have the background to criticize. It is so easy to say what went wrong AFTER the fact. But let’s have you lead a group of people, think on your feet, and see how many mistakes YOU make, and then we can call you out on the forums, detailing your failings.

I have the utmost respect for anyone who wears the tag in SBI. It’s not easy to lead against often impossible odds. And many commanders keep going out everyday, fighting those odds. I can barely stand a few hours at the most of fighting like that, and they are there everyday.

Actually command for awhile, and then I will take what you say seriously. Until then, you are a whiner that I encourage to leave the server.

Props to SBI, pretty impressed with their efforts lately, strong pushes and good tactics. Let’s see how long you hold out in that castle!

I do not play at night, I play in the mornings only. This isnt a real military where Officers lead and NCO’s follow or risk jail time. Respect is earned, not given because you have 100g.

I refuse to listen to commanders with horrible tactics, and will encourage everyone around me to do the same. You show me a leader that is willing to admit they were wrong and change tactics, and actually listen to reason. People will follow that guy.

So much to offer in criticisms of the commanders. And you don’t care to become one. Even though obviously you know all the right tactics to use, and when to use them.

You also deem yourself unworthy of commanding. Yet you are worthy enough to criticize every action, and expect to be considered right? Try walking in a commander’s shoes sometime, and then you can have the background to criticize. It is so easy to say what went wrong AFTER the fact. But let’s have you lead a group of people, think on your feet, and see how many mistakes YOU make, and then we can call you out on the forums, detailing your failings.

I have the utmost respect for anyone who wears the tag in SBI. It’s not easy to lead against often impossible odds. And many commanders keep going out everyday, fighting those odds. I can barely stand a few hours at the most of fighting like that, and they are there everyday.

TL;DR
Actually command for awhile, and then I will take what you say seriously. Until then, you are a whiner that I encourage to leave the server.

I have to say that you make a lot of sense. This isn’t limited to GW2; IRL it’s easy to criticize the leadership (especially AFTER the fact with that 20/20 hindsight) but it’s far more difficult to actually take up the mantle and lead. Anyone who thinks a good leader is someone who doesn’t make mistakes is living in a fantasy land. A good leader is someone who learns from their mistakes and listen to constructive criticism (as far as GW2 goes, anyways). Obviously there are quite a few more qualifiers there, but they are irrelevant to the topic.

EDIT :: Another thing: no one will listen to you if you don’t approach them in an assertive and constructive manner. Saying “L2P n00b you suck delete ur account lol” will just lead to those people ignoring you, even when you have good ideas! I’m an outsider looking in, but it pains me to see SBI fighting like this. You guys are good competition and I look forward to seeing you guys crawl back up again soon.
