For now at least. If the DBL is reintroduced with the same problems as before you will have 3 months of the previous 6 months, dead WvW. Bring in DBL replacing one map and see what people make of the new changes. We can’t have 3 month cycles where players leave because DBL is back and then come back when ABL is back.

I could be onboard for this.

That creates an unbalanced match.
They need to just stick with alpine until they figure out how to cycle the maps on a 1 or 2 week rotation.

How would it create an unbalanced match? When we had three DBL you would see servers that had good coverage losing because no one was leading on a DBL and all commanders were in EB. This can’t happen for 3 months when DBL gets rotated back in.

yeah.. I absolutely refuse to play the Desert borderlands.. I have never experienced such a slow paced BL with 0 roaming and only zergs ktraining objectives…

They definitely need to balance the desert BL’s somehow, hate to be forced to play the DB BL, Wish there was some way to choose, maybe elect to fight either on a DB BL map or just play alpine..

Yes that is a negative but unavoidable. I would rather have DBL as my home BL than 3 DBL and EB queued till next reset.

It would be considered unfair to some players and create a headache of backlash. IF people still want the Desert maps how about one week we are all on desert next week we are all on alpine. Or at least the match-up teams all have same maps and no one knows what map they are getting each week but the 3 teams in a match are all the same.

The problem is this.

Anet have said that everytime they bring in a new map to WvW the match up resets. So you have reset on Friday and then another reset on Tuesday when the maps are introduced. The only solution is moving reset to Tuesday which nobody wants.

Not when people actually defend because they like playing the map

2 Alpine and 1 Alpine. No Desert. Desert is not for WvW. It is for WvNothing. Or PvE.
How many times must I post this kitten? No compromise, no rotation, no “one map this, another map that”. Only Alpine. <3

The fact that BlD lovers are excited by “bigger” and “longer” don’t give your opinion more weight. ^^

Anyone who honestly believes they are a WvW player will play Alpine and like it.

Here’s an idea:

FIX the actual problem at hand with server stacking THEN:

Give us ALL maps for “WvW”, one EB, one ABL, one DBL, and one be the map from EoTM (we wouldn’t need EoTM as it’s currently implemented because server stacking and queues wouldn’t be a thing)!

Still 4 maps, EB, BL, BL, EoTM (map)… Now THAT would be cool!

That’s not a problem if you do reset on Friday Nights new maps in at the time of reset. That’s not hard.

Or….EB in the middle, ABL on one side, DBL the other. No home BL and adjust the scoring accordingly. EoTM as que wait if you wish. Play what you want to help. No need for rotation ever.

That would require redesigning 2 maps (and kittening off a bunch of people) so….. probably not going to happen

Nope former GW1 player, and been at GW2 since beta days. Just like to give them suggestions whenever possible in case they didn’t think of that.

This is why we’re in a beta. Software patches are always put out in the middle of the week because if they break anything, they can be fixed by the end of the week.

Weekend or late-week releases are frowned upon in all industries of software development for this reason. They want to do tuesday patches while writing and testing new features. Maybe when things are all finished, the maps will alternate on a weekly basis during the Friday reset.

That said, I really hope they don’t. My guild won’t play DBL’s and came back as an entire guild just because Alpine has returned, with promises to leave again for as long as DBL’s are around.
