2 Class Meta
Actually it is 4 for Zerging (GREN)
Pretty much all of them for Havoc
And like 5 for Roaming (the other 5)

Not that it’s applicable, but last night we wvw guild raid a “mesmer wvw training course” where we instructed guildies to only play mesmer and listen to veteran mesmer on TS teach class ins and outs.
It’s wasn’t perfect (hell, I played warrior…I got 4 80s and stacks upon stacks of tombs but I haven’t choose not if my last slot should be mesmer or something else) but we had a fat swathe of mesmers….
Was kinda cool, invis for days and tripling the visual size of your zerg it’s a neat concept.
Anyhow, that commander is missing a lot of the game…where are his revs?
All classes can be viable. It’s that certain ones are going to be best. Guardian shares stability like no one else, so much so that you don’t only want one in a party but two, it’s that important. Maybe the next set of elite specs someone else will get a similar capability. Guardians also play frontline well, and have additional support through heals and other things.
Necro is the king of the bomb and boonstrip, with the current meta having a silly amount of boons that strip is huge, but then also just laying double wells by a handful of necros if you get it right it can be instant downs.
Normally you’d want more Ele’s than what you saw, and probably Revs. Ele can take down siege better than anyone, provide water fields, and bomb right up there with Necros, or you can play frontline and make it even harder to kill those guards/revs with heals and such. Rev you put out resistance to avoid dealing with soft CC and condi bombs as well as solid range and melee damage, and 50% boon duration on the party.
Meta actually involves some Mesmers to share boons and leave you with a minute+ of everything, which is a bit silly though IMO not as game changing as many make it out to be (very powerful, but it’s not the sole issue with the game mode currently).
In the end Warrior and Scrapper are not meta but still solid, good rez capabilities with solid frontline damage and for Scrapper decent range damage as well. Druid and Thief can have their uses as well (added sustain from druid and picking off solo’s very well if you time it right, and venomshare from Thief or picking of mispositioned opponents).
Right now meta though is something like Guard, Guard, Ele, Rev, Nec groups with a few mesmer boonshare groups. So yes an imbalance of professions, but not just 2 viable. And, it’s always been this way with guardians being weighed heavily and always will until someone else can combat CCs for the group like guardian can.
