Q:

1) Will someone please tell me why there hasn’t been a new map introduced or a map rotation in WvW??

2) Why is World versus World the redheaded stepchild of Arenanet?

I played this game since launch and quit in September when the mass Exodus happened ( Destiny was released for PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox 1 & Archage for PC ) My main reason for quitting was primarily lack of content and ridiculous balance changes plus losing Guild members by the droves to new games. I really wanted to stay, I adore the combat system in Guild Wars 2 it’s pure genius. However, I can’t understand why in over 2+ years almost nothing has been done to expand or re-freshen world versus world. The WvW populations are on the decline and this is why, players want more… We want something new. Not new skins, I mean they’re cool and all but why can’t we get new WvW maps?? so many skins and the same lame maps with the same lame layouts. Sadly I don’t think anything will change until Arenanet acknowledges WvW as END GAME CONTENT. Until then it’ll be Skin Wars 2, The never ending Player vs Enemy Story.

1. Per the devs: It is too resource intensive to make a new map. They did put in EotM but the WvW community doesn’t consider it part of WvW since it doesn’t directly contribute to the score.

2. Most players PvE. PvE is bigger by a large margin actually. Only a few thousand play WvW compared to hundreds of thousand in PvE. They prioritize their content around use.

The real question is why haven’t we seen crossover content added to the game in 2.5 years. This would include new weapons, new skills (more than the handful put it) and most of all a new class. 2.5 years is a LONG time to go without a significant expansion of some sort.

I agree with you 100%, this game could be so much more than it already is. Apparently Arenanet is milking this cash cow until there’s nothing left. Such a shame really this platform has so much room for improvements, new classes, races, hell an entire expansion. Look at WoW 10+years and still going strong, no reason this game can’t top that.

The problem with this argument is PvP is smaller by far and yet sees significant more attention from the devs. Despite ANets assurance that they want to improve communication with the players, the PvP forum is still the only forum that seems to be read on a consistent basis and is actually responded to. PvP players also get rewarded for their time and effort (not their skill…) whereas WvW players see the least rewards for similar time and effort. Heck, EotM gives more rewards than WvW! We going to pretend the reason for this is because of eSports? For a game as horribly balanced as this?

It’s a shame how little interest ANet has in WvW. This game really could have been special.

Look at WoW 10+years and still going strong, no reason this game can’t top that.

Blizzard get 15$ a month per player to keep their game running. Anet does not.

i think people are just in need of a expansion when there is nothing in sight.

and even if there was. anet does not talk about there plans .

so people are just left on the edge of there seat grasping at straws waiting for some “cantha” to come around

something that can bring classes new weapons/traits or something to change up the game a lil

i think people are looking for a challenge .
but the size of your server makes to much of a difference and u end up with bad wvw match ups

or one team will have night capers.

really people not happy with wvw have a bad wvw server .
only people who seem happy with wvw r top servers

dont say go to eotm .. it solved nothing

…because in the higher tiers there are servers that have much greater concentration of players than a server only 1 or 2 behind it. Through some unbalanced matchups twice in a row, we climbed from 10th to 8th. We can, in no way, successfully compete against the server ranked 7th. They can, and always do, outnumber us. They seem to have a large overnight presence that we cannot match. So, ya, we’ve been complaining about the balance issues for some time. We’ve offered suggestions on how to balance, but all we’ve gotten are the removal of white swords and changes to siege disablers.

Yeah, the T3 fiasco is big problem. Having 4 T2 servers isn’t fun for anyone that get matched on T3. But they can’t just delete one of the 4 servers and be done with it. The only hope is that one of them collapse.

Now try playing chess when you start with only your king, and the enemy has all 16 pieces!

The funny part is: I see more complaints from the top tiers about the lack of people than from the lower tiers where there are less people.

This is most likely due to all the bandwagoning. One server will have greater coverage at say oceanic times, and so will continue to try to get all oceanic players to their server.

Just like how lower tier server complain about being outmanned all day and night, T1 server complain about being outmanned during those 2 hours in the middle of the night in the USA.

What iffs me, most people PvE, but game balance is based on PvP. When from my experience it seems PvP makes up the smallest portion of active community, even smaller then WvW/EotM.

Well that ppl are still playing wvw shows you something about what Anet did right. You could changes things add in new maps have a rotation of maps but would it work? There are a lot of problems with what you want added to WvW and the fact that they have not been added and wvw still is populated by players is saying something.

Added note PvE will always be bigger then PvP in any games even in games where there a mix the PvE part of these games are bigger. This is just what mmorpgs even RPGs are. So yes PvP population will always be smaller then PVE population in any game.

Well, people been asking for a GvG mode, which is exactly two premade groups clashing each other.

There is premade pvp in gw2 already and you can make it into gvg like mode what ppl are truly asking for is more numbers to be allowed in that premade pvp. The big thing that i need to point out is that the GvG population is even smaller then the pvp population.

Think of it this way for most if not all games: PvE pop > RvRvR pop> premade small group / 1v1 pop> GvG or bigger premade pvp groups. This is bast off just how hard it is to organized group of ppl the more organized and bigger the group the less will be there so something like RvR is a very large group BUT its very un-orgnized much like you would see in pve pop. Where GvG is a high number of ppl for each group that needs to be extremely highly organize.

Even with a GvG system most ppl will still hold to RvR for the pvp needs for ppl who needs well made groups they will aim for the small man pvp know as Spvp in GW2.

I don’t disagree that Anet has something made something special with WvW. I’m just frustrated with the lack of content within the WvW playmode. WoW as mentioned because of it’s success the fact that it doesn’t have a RvRvR playmode is irrelevant, if you want a comparison look at DAoC ( Dark Ages of Camelot ). DAoC was the 1st to have realm vs realm 3 faction open world PvP mode. The difference is that Mythic actually came out with more PvP / PvE content and even combined the 2. Nothing was more rewarding than being able to use a super rare item / weapon against your enemies while honing in on your skills and tactics. A highly organized group of 8 could easily take on what we would consider a Zerg in GW2. Sadly GW2 seems to be more about numbers and coverage than tactics. Anet is constantly changing the classes based off of other game modes that have nothing to do with WvW. The elitist chest thump / brag in Spvp which actually means nothing because the game is already broken. Classes are not balanced and certain skills / traits are banned in most dueling servers in Spvp. This alone shows you how broken some of these classes are, not to mention everything is streamlined in Spvp so all of those awesome Raid / Legendaires you grind for are nothing more than a skin trophy which can be purchased with real cash anyways. Even though Anet doesn’t charge 15 a month I’m sure they make much more through that Gem Store, Pay to win is the new Meta.

This is sheer speculation on my part: I think ANet wants to cash in on the DOTA, LoL, TF, etc crowd. There is a massive market for this style of game play.

This style of play is also more GW like which is more familiar to them I am sure. It is also likely that sPvP is an easier environment to design and develop in. WvW is expansive and resource intensive even with the generous balancing dynamic.
