2014 In Retrospect & Future
Transfers fix nothing at all. It only makes the uneven server population more unbalanced.
As far as big changes go, I think the most likely (not that that means much) is a change to the server system. Either a condensation of the current servers or a reworked system (perhaps a guild based faction/allegiance thing with less options?).
Whether that’s a good or a bad thing, I won’t comment on.
Personally I would like to see large scale instances like Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry from GW1, but I’m not getting my hopes up for that.
WvW is player driven and even small changes have huge impacts. I believe thats why anet has taken a hands off approach and why we are unlikely to see many changes in the coming year.
Ill take a guess… some kind of pvp map/mode, smaller scale than eotm but larger than spvp
It’s pretty clear they don’t have plans for any real content (new maps) or plans to spend any true effort in improving WvW. That’s why we see “events” like sneak attack and seasons: they require next to zero effort in implementation but yet fool a lot of people into thinking something’s actually happening.

we dont know, i guess it harsh to assume something that we dont have any info, for now imo we can only assume LS will contitnue with a similiar model but they are willing to change something there, this is the obvious info players have so far.
About WvW we had the Guild CDI and most brainstorming idead there was about how guild decisions can impact pve and wvw, the ideias that players brough where themed on that and a good content takes time to gets from paper to deployment.

No. The obvious info players have so far is that WvW has been neglected since launch, and even more so since the LS was invented. It’s more reasonable to assume this trend will continue.

Yes, good content is right around the corner! Just you wait! An expansion also! Yes, we may have said this last year. And the year before. But this year for sure, right?

Things take time to develop you know, if it is an expansion makes some sense to take even more time then expected since was not in their bidings or ideals at start.
Game has now more then 2 years it is the right time to hit market with the secret operation of content and balance/bug fixes, an mmo with 2 years HAVE the obligation to have is path defined and become a mature game in the market, somewhe close to the 3rd aniversary would be the ideal time to revamp WvW or even end it for something similiar even if is serverless.
If Anet wants to cater audiences on 2015 with graphics, LS strange content over an amazing set of characters with excellent lore background and forget the rest of the gamemodes balance thats up with them offcourse but they will not please most gw1 players (like many abandoned the game or went back to gw1 for several good reasons)i guess, they will still have a huge audience for that i guess.
“The blant prediction”:
The interpretation that i make from game content(mechianics and formulas) is that Anet is pleasing to new players that are trying is first mmo and there will be always alot of this players, other are the players that dont have time to play any game or learn to play reason some classes are way to straight foward and easy to achieve high damage as for an example of how Anet is setting the game way to simple, wich i dare to say dead brainless, and that is what i fear the game will become mostly for 2015, freebies for everyone by just pressing a key.

Many of the high tier players think that condensing server will make the lower tier servers have a “better experience”. This is completely false. I intentionally transferred from tier 1 to 2 to 3 to 8. Tier 8 is the most fun I have had on this game. True, there are some things I miss about the higher tiers, but as a solo roamer/ha over, I can say that the lower tiers are much more fun, and many of the players have a higher skill level. This includes T7 & 6 because Kaineng has been everywhere in the lower tiers
I’m hoping that the servers are NOT condensed, and that we get more maps. Preferably a rotating map system so each border land is different (same number of objectives just a different lay out) providing differen choke points, strategies, and etc. I also hope there will be new tower/keep upgrades, such as parapets and T3 gates. Maybe make fortified/reinforced walls a bit stronger against guild/superior catapults.

If they do consolidate servers or make some alliance system etc, I do hope they take into consideration the people that like to play on low population servers, either by making own low population alliances/servers/leagues that only play against each others. Or alternatively makes some maps for WvW that actually rewards such play styles, and discourages zerging (either through hard counters like map user limits, or soft counters to simply make zerging completely inefficient at capping 15 different objectives at the same time).
