4 Badges in 3 hours... is this normal?
i am nearly to 1000 kills and i have 102 badges.
Just need to keep on attacking people. So far 3.6k kills in WvWvW and I have gotten over 800+ badges (bought 2 pieces but already in a full pow/vit/toughness armor since you can get others by karma).
And most of the time I just dps enemy zergs with AoE. I think its more of if you damaged several enemies with a certain %, a bag of loot will drop.
Rethesis
I have a little over 1000 kills and I have 200 badges. My husband has only a little more kills than I do and he has over 300 badges. So unfair.
It’s hard to tell whether it’s working properly or not, since I probably leave 25% of my bags on the floor accidentally. I really do think the badges should just drop in your inventory without them being located in bags. All too often I push through a bunch of foes to get to the guy at the back… when they all start running, I don’t stop to pick things up. It’s not uncommon to be a 30sec run from where the main combat happened.
Same works in reverse too… if I kill a couple of people, then an enemy zerg shows up, I won’t be hanging around to see if my bags contain a couple of badges or 32c when hanging around too long will cost me nearly 2s and a 3 minute run.
I have 1700 kills, 300 badges.
Mist Angels [Mist] – Piken Square
When I was at around 1200 kills I had around 108 or so badges.
1300 kills, about 300 badges (not counting those I got from puzzles). Necro.
Funny, but I hadn’t a chance to farm badges with ballista yet.
2300 kills, about 550 badges
Sad, but I received 2 badges from killing the enemy last night and 4 from killing the Grub.

1*Invaders Accessoiry
230 Badges currently
I don’t know what you are doing wrong, but you must doing something wrong o_o

I have seen a lot of threads lately on this topic with a lot of posters not getting many badges. So I don’t think the OP or anyone else is doing something wrong, I think the system is just broken in some way.
You can only get badges from bag of loot. To get a bag of loot that has a chance to have badges inside, you need to hit something that get killed.
This something can either be:
- a supervisor/lord/legendary guardian from camp/tower/fort/miststone capture areas,
– a human player.
The easiest way to get badges is to be in a large group (over 30 ppl), and when your group is killing other people, try to hit everyone that is about to die at least once instead of focusing on killing 1 player.

My Staff Ele hits a lot of people. Doesn’t mean I get a lot of badges.
Neutro.3079
He is AoE engi, I think he alredy hitting everything around him.
From my experience being a Necro, I’m getting badges mostly from kills where I did decent amount of damage.

I’m curious, do you do the jumping puzzle regularly?
Only every third kill or so ends up giving me loot at all.

Problem is that enemies need to die. I see lots of people that seem very content to just force enemies to back up and regen their health instead of choosing one to focus down and kill.
What i mean is “hit every downed ppl you see once”, because if they are downed, they are likely to be killed and drop badges. But don’t focus them until they are dead, just hit them once if there are more than 1 at the same time near you.
You can easily spot them because they have a red arrow above them.
8k kills and over 5k badges.

That is where there is a problem. In sPvP you get points for things other than just killing people. You get points for taking and defending as well as for killing enemy NPCs. And in sPvP people are dying with much more frequency than WvW.
But in WvW you only get badges for killing people (but not all the time even whereas in sPvP you get glory for basically everything) and in WvW people play a lot more defensively than in sPVP because it’s a long run back to the objective in WvW and getting back to the action is not always possible if the enemy is in your way. So less people are dying because they’d rather get away alive and come back later with more buddies than risk dying to kill someone or attack/defend a keep. And that is what WvW is all about – attacking and defending keeps and killing the NPCs inside. Why don’t we get badges for those actions in WvW? Right now getting more badges means ignoring the objectives and just trying to kill as many people as possible. Forget about playing strategically and trying to defend your keep, just focus on farming people for badges. Nope, I won’t use my multitude of AoEs to try to keep people off the door or my arsenal of CC’s to catch the runners. I’ll just tag everyone that’s low. That’s messed up and I don’t want to play that way.

If you are the first to “F” you almost always get a badge, finish your kills off and you will get a ton of badges
Yea took me a while to even bother with finishing off people, let other people do it while I knocked em down.
Since I realised thats where a lot of bags come from I’ve been doing more finishing. But yea I’ve left behind at least half the bags I estimate, I’m usually following the action rather than collecting loot.
I second badges going straight to your inventory.

That should not work that way. Again, promoting bad gameplay. Kill someone from afar as a ranged class and then you see a teammate finishing him off so I go ahead and try to kill that other guy hitting us. Or maybe I’ll throw down a Lava Font on the downed player so he can’t try to get back up and anyone trying to help him is going to get hurt. But instead you’re telling me I need to rush to be the first to hit F on him just for the loot, even if it’s not the best move. No Lava Font, no letting my teammate do it because we’ve got another guy on us that one of us should be focusing on, no throwing down heals for my teammates. Nope, ignore everything else to farm badges. Bad game design.
When i play my Mesmer as a AOE combo attacker, i barely get any drops from kills although i help out with allies being able to get combos and i do semi decent damage to the enemies. Possibly around the same 4 badges/day. I started making a guardian which does alot more raw damage to the enemies and ive had tons of drops, not all badges though.
I got well over 1250 badges in 3k kills, sounds like you need to stop zerging and go around and kill some people or solo some camps.
Best way to get badges is to defend a tower or keep with a cannon or ballista. Arrow carts work fine too but cannon/ballista are so great for it.
I was getting about one badge every 5 kills or so, but the last couple of days, I’ve barely gotten any. I had over 50 kills yesterday, and I got 1 badge. My playstyle hasn’t changed, and my kill rate per hour has actually gone up, but it seems like the badge drop rate (and, in fact, my loot bag drop rate) has gone down significantly.
Or, perhaps the bags themselves are now invisible, along with a good deal of the players, or spawning so late after a kill that I’m long gone before I get them, when they used to be fairly immediate.
Either way, I’m not too pleased about it.
We run a tight 4-5 man group that usually runs around attacking flag’s and supply camps and I see a ton of badges from attacking the guarding NPC’s and from the fights we get into along the way. So far I’m at 876 kills and I have 366 badges. Running with the zerg is most certainly not the best way to obtain badges
Not everyone has a static 5 man group and WvW was certainly not built around them. You often need larger groups to attack/defend things so requiring everyone to run around in small groups to get badges kind of goes against the idea of mass seige warfare PvP.
I’m not sure why, but every time I get a bag of loot and get badges, I think of this song.
So, from the numerous and varied response… I’m getting about what I’m going to get being a ranged AoE Grenade Engineer.
I don’t have my kill count, but will take a look at it tonight and get an idea on how much wind I’m sucking.
Yes it’s normal.
Though probably not intended, i bet my non-excising cat that they will buff the drop rate or lower the cost of the badge items in the near future. No question about it.
I also find that bags of loot are spawning too slowly. As a melee I run in and smash everyone drop a reflection wall, then bounce out and collect kills. Its usually 5 secounds after bags start appearing which for a melee is a LONG time to stand still in the fray.
It’s highly dependent on what’s going on; there needs to be large amounts of death and point capping for you to amass many tokens. The most tokens I’ve ever had was a couple days ago when all my party did was go around capping supply depots.
7.5k wuvwuv kills here and ~1.6k badge in total (includes jumping puzzles)
All you need to do if you’re only out to farm badges is ensure you deal ~2k damage to anyone you see; after that you can ignore the player and as long as they don’t leave combat they’re tagged and you’ll get credit for their death. Condition damage seems bugged in that you seem to need to do more damage with conditions to get kill credit than with direct damage.
Always throw at least 1 attack at a downed enemy; after that you can ignore him and go after your next kill while someone else finishes him.
One thing to note is that the badge drop rate appears to have been drastically nerf’d from what it was when the game first came out.
Playing with Pandas until hacking is brought under control.
1647 kills and Im under 200 badges.
