50 "Tier 1" WvW wins
Good job transferring to the most stacked server 3 times?
I’d hardly say being on a server that flips everything whenever everyone else is asleep skillful.

And that’s why I used HoD material showing us on the defensive. The guilds we played against, particularly before Team Legacy imploded, were competitive. To say otherwise disrespects them and/or is just particularly lazy trolling.
<shrug> This fails as both an insult and history:Good job transferring to the most stacked server 3 times?
The Elite was on HoD as foundation members of TA. Those who were there know that TA picked HoD precisely because it was not one of our pre-release servers and we wanted a clean sheet. Free transfers put paid to that.
Again, those have played WvW for the past year, know that TA disbanded and, if the guilds kept playing, they went to other servers to spread our guilds around. SoS was competitive, but not prime, when I transferred.
When DiE stopped playing and I transferred to Blackgate, it hadn’t won a Tier 1 match. BG built the community by recruiting – as have JQ and SoR – and I’m playing alongside guilds I used to fight against – War Machine, for example.
Regardless, the WvW action is enjoyable, and commanders like Indo and Waha, and guilds like FEAR, SONG and TW, always bring a good fight.
I guess my point is that you being on the highest pop/best coveraged servers makes your individual effect on these “wins” insignificant. You could have not logged in once and the results wouldn’t have been any different.
Congrats. A year into the game and you still don’t understand that score = coverage and population only.
Uhhhhhh, grats?

I think that “disillusioned” is not the word that you were after.
I’d also suggest that the tone of my post and video, by thanking foes and allies, does exactly what you suggest and focuses on the big picture.
<shrug> As a WvW commander of 12 months I’d hope that my individual contribution wasn’t insignificant.I guess my point is that you being on the highest pop/best coveraged servers makes your individual effect on these “wins” insignificant. I also value the contribution of all the individuals who made up the guilds I ran with, these wins came from the effort of the many people working together. When the individuals you call ‘insignificant’ don’t log in on otherwise competitive servers, that’s when you get point blowouts.
Good job transferring to the most stacked server 3 times?
LOL! Good one!
Well. Um. Congratulations?
Everyone needs a little optimism!
I love this thread. This means all of us mediocre players who enjoy the fights instead of points can become truly awesome if we transfer to the winning server.
Can the op keep us up to date with the current bandwagon server going forward so we don’t need to waste gems by accidently transferring to the wrong server?
Congratulation on being a part on these 50 gold medals. Doubt many has gotten that many. Don’t care of jealous and childdish comments, they are just biters
I’d hardly say being on a server that flips everything whenever everyone else is asleep skillful.
Welcome to WvW gameplay, where every server does that
WvW is nothing more than a 24/7 Ab map capture n run…
I would compliment you if it’s about your wvw kill, but match up wins that are hugely dependent on coverage?
A server doesn’t need to be “prime” before it becomes a bandwagon.
You bandwagoned. Don’t try to justify otherwise.
@Titan
I doubt anyone is jealous. In WvW’s current state, winning means nothing and also because anyone and everyone has the power to move servers.
I’m happy that you are happy with those wins. Good job!
7.2k+ hours played on Minesweeper
Congrats on being a zergling.
With the end of last week’s NA match, I had my 50th WvW “Tier 1” win.
I ran with three guilds in doing so: The Elite, Henge of Denravi; Darkness is Everywhere (DiE), Sea of Sorrows; and Center of Attention (CA), Blackgate.
The intent of this post (and the linked video) is to mark this milestone. Thank you to those I’ve fought with, and against. The Oceanic and SEA community is alive and well, and the WvW experience that GW2 allows us would not have been such great fun without you.
The video is here.
Can you post screenshot of guild panel in primetime? We need it, for science.

Good job.
Relevant picture is relevant.
I have a disdain for people who think winning WvW matchups = milestone/skill. Doesn’t make sense to me, but W/E.
SWEEEEEEEEEET.
Question: What did you win 50 times?
Matchups I have won tend to be the most boring ones for me (too few enemies, too many allies). It’s a pity ANet didn’t make a score system that had any merit to winning.
How did Anet actually capture so many people who are tied into the meaninglessness of wvw….???
You guys all actually care about points and server pride (with transfers daily) and a PVE “pvp” platform. lol unreal
Pay no mind to the naysayers. Congrats on your accomplishment. That’s a lot of WvW dedication.
Its funny how many T1 haters there are…Everyone says play the game so its fun, unless you’re in T1, then you’re a bandwagoner and wrong…
Gratz Cuddlepie, hopefully there will be many more wins in our future and great fights to accompany them!

For the record I personally don’t hate T1 people. I also usually do not buy into the “server stacking” argument for the most part.
With the massive population loss that mid and lower tiers receive with PVE gold farm updates, I can pretty much see why people would want to stack in a server that was stacked with people that enjoy WvW as a primary style of gameplay.
What I do not care for is people that watch and obsess over the PPT/Scoreboard in general. What happens on Friday just before reset is more about which server had the better population coverage at which times etc. While some people enjoy this, the big picture is that:
A. You didn’t win anything except maybe bragging rights that your WvW dedication (IE: coverage) was the best that particular week.
B. There is no direct correlation between skill and who wins, you can get your butt kicked during NA prime but hold everything after people sleep and climb the PPT charts.
Not saying that in the sense of a “gripe” or that either way is right or wrong, if watching PPT is your thing then so be it. But it is just time people realize that ANET made WvW into a week long sPVP match in terms of scoring, so essentially you are saying “I capped and held the most objectives this week”. Whereas many people would rather say: “look how much butt we kicked this week, we smashed them every time we faced them”.
I’d love it if your server for WvW was independent of your server for PvE, and WvW transfers were free. That would kill the server stacking meta that exists currently.
Probably not technically feasible without massive changes in “the way things are done.”

How would that kill the server stacking meta? If anything, everyone would just stack to the winning servers and the losing servers would be completely empty.

The stacking meta started when server transfers stopped being free. T1 was “stacked” to a degree when it was free, but NOTHING like it is now. What we have now is absolutely a world apart from what it was.
If guilds were able to transfer all over the place, at will, lots of guilds would just try out different servers for different experiences, and stacking to the servers with the most fights, etc, would be a lot less of a priority, because you could always transfer back later if you wanted.
I would love to be able to transfer to EU for a few weeks and see what it’s like over there without having to shell out $50 for the ability.

The only difference between now and when it was free was servers imploding faster. T1 has always been stacked. HoD/SBI/SoS/JQ were all stacked at one point, nothing has changed and nothing will. If JQ/SoR/BG fall another server will take its place and guilds will fill in the gaps. Sadly there just isn’t enough people and guilds to make the tiers even, there’s not enough guilds outside of NA to fill in those gaps. JQ/BG/SoR’s NA isn’t much different from T2, the difference is the EU/OC/SEA guilds that make it a more competitive 24 hour battle. You do know that both SoR and BG tell NA guilds that are interested in transfers that going to a T2 server would probably be better for them? We can’t control where guilds go, we can only support there decision. Guild have to do what is best for them, it not always about the server…there has been quite a few guilds that have moved around in T1.

The server imploding cycle was kinda important though. it kept the T1 mess we have now from happening.
I also think guilds would feel more free to move around servers for various fights and changeups. Boredom would keep things from growing too static on any given server.

Agreed. The free transfers was what killed any semblance of balanced tiers back in the day and Anet allowed it for the longest time. Free WvW transfers would be just laughable at this point as individual players of guilds would just transfer to their opponents server freely and sabotage their supply line and become trolls. The cash dollar amount for transfers needs to stay.

well srry but your wrong.
HOD was the most stacked server in this games history, they had 24/7 coverage. Let me put it this way, ET of old is wich was the 3rd/4th server back then, was prob still more stacked then the servers r today.
THE wvw pop in this game has dropped alot. SO yes the t1 server now r stacked, but in no way r they STACKED compared to the days of HOD
SOR

How is it a mess? Its the most even and competitive than its even been…All 3 servers can win if they play PPT, JQ/SoR/BG are all monsters in there own light. There are great fights to be had every where, great commanders on all 3 servers, great community’s, and great 3 way rivalry. The only time its a mess is when the 3 get broken up…

It’s not competitive. It’s “who can blob the most” vs “who is suffering from the most burnout.” We’ve seen T1 several times now, and trust me….it’s the LAST thing most of us want. It’s a horrible experience. 90% of players just blob up, rarely fight, and then bunker 70 people inside a tower with 5 arrowcarts.

That is why I haven’t said anything about TC…which by the way did quite well in the NA time slot while in T1. Just because you or your server doesn’t like something doesn’t mean its shared by everyone or every server, also doesn’t mean its a problem.

Fair point.
For the record, I personally liked TC a bit more when our WvW presense was about 750 persons smaller. I think we’ve recruited to a rough place now, since we can’t get more people. We aren’t big league enough to compete in T1, too big for less than T1. I don’t like the T1 meta personally, but a lot of people have worked hard to get TC there.
People and guilds transfer to T1 cause it’s 24/7 non stop battles, can some of you guys in the lower tiers say the same?
The lower tiers have 2 options, quit the game or move up. The player community is naturally merging servers….because its boring as hell and the lower tiers just dont have the population due to people leaving the game.

Our experience in T1 differed a lot of times. They’ve learned a different meta up there. A lot of them don’t fight because in T1, if you lose a fight, you lose a keep along with it a lot of times…. They run when we’re used to fighting in lower tiers. It’s not a cowardly thing, so don’t think I am implying that, but they have learned a different game that many of us just don’t find all that….attractive.
Also, 80v80 fights are not fights…. They’re lag festivals.
Lower tiers, 25v25, 40v40, etc, are a lot more enjoyable as far as fights go. It seems like even “T1” in EU works that way from the streams I’ve been watching lately. They really don’t blob the way people in NA do.
@Hickeroar
That’s assuming you find those fights. If one say logs in at 1 am during a weekday the lands are probably barren, particularly if you happen to be on the dominant server at that timeslot, pvdooring with zero resistance gets old fast.

Can’t argue with that. 1am for TC is still pretty hot, but 4am (for comparison’s sake)…not so much. FA likes to stay up late, but Mag and DB all seemed to go to bed around 11pm or midnight. One of my favorite things about FA is how late late they fight…..and boy do they fight.
Also: I think the PvDoor mechanics that have developed since launch are really detrimental. The fact that a server can be so populus compared to their rival that they can stand there for 10 minutes and autoattack a door down without any checks….well, it kinda hints at a core problem with matchups and balancing. That’s not fun for anyone. Offense or Defense.

Lawls, no matter how late/hard we try to fight/defend, outnumbered is still outnumbered. And besides most of us doesnt stay up late normally, its just that we have that small number of ppl from that timezone.

.. huh? I don’t think you understand the meta at all. I can’t speak for the other T1 servers but I’m sure it is pretty similar to SOR’s. I’m sure TC wants to fight over this supply camp, but when our garrison in another BL is getting golem rushed we will pull out and port to go save it. Call it “running” if you wish, but that is the advantage of having a community-wide teamspeak server. If we run past from a fight it is usually because there is a much larger fire to put out. All the guilds have been wiped countless times, no one is afraid of dying.
I would love to really, but its kinda pointless when its just a lagfest like someone posted earlier.. so meh..
The lag in T1 is vastly overstated, other than 3-way garrison fights between 80 man map zergs or EB I’ve never had an issue. Or when a certain JQ guild is near, everyone in T1 knows which one. No need for orange swords, the sudden lag spikes on a seemingly empty map are an early warning detector :p

Depends on your hardware. If you still on a CPU that was the cool factor of 5 years past you are gonna be bottlenecked.
Frankly the only times my FPS drops below 15 is when 3 servers are stacked inside the SM Lords room on reset, lol. Otherwise it’s smooth and very much playable.
Zerg ball battles average around 30+-40 fps and open wvw roaming, 60+
