7 Seconds instant casts...really???
I lagged a lot yesterday. Wasnt just in wvw either as the AC runs we did b4 reset proved to be fruitless when trying to do burrows with the game consistently pausing the then catching up every few sec for everyone. WvW was a lot less laggy though once we went there.
It really is quite terrible. It has been since wvw reset. I thought for sure they would have fixed it by this morning.

Many times, my skills will essentially queue up, then all activate one right after the other 5-10 seconds later. This usually results in death.

As of right now, my skills don’t even register they have been pushed. I sit there rapidly hitting mist form 20+ times to just be obliterated because it never fires.

Basically when it comes to computer performance, when you have a 40 men zerg in close quarters you have a huge advantage.
1)Graphic lag + culling.
All your allies are pre-rendered so they won’t lag your computer. But your enemies, when you suddenly rush into them, causes huge graphic lags for them since all those characters need to be newly rendered.
2) Network lag.
When you rush your 40 men zerg into the enemy, and all cast skills at once, it causes massive network lag for the enemy. Your enemy cannot use any skills because your forces already filled all the “skill usage slots” available on the server. So your enemy literally just sit there and let you kill them. There are cases where even dodging won’t respond.

I think its 50/50 on that one. If it doesnt activate, you can actually run or something, haha.
In my case, after 5-10 seconds I am essentially trapped into ~4 seconds of skills that I am unable to stop or interrupt (and thats if they are all instant cast). My screen also freezes for that 5-10 seconds. This only seems to be a recent problem in GW2 for me. In fact, at first, the lack of serious issues right around release was like a breath of fresh air. That has changed..
I suppose in any given situation one might be better than the other, lol. I think we can both agree that it is REALLY problematic in any form though. I have to say though, its still better than the last time I was playing LotRO.

I would like to make a note that the culling system has been changed to cull both friendlies and allies separately. This means, you have your friendlies culled if you’re in a large group regardless of the number of enemies in sight. This was part of the January patch.

Not saying you can’t be right, or its impossible, but I’d call BS on this one until confirmed
i just had the biggest lag ever in piken square border, inside garrison. me and my allies got more than 20 seconds skill delay, even autoattack was delayed. our enemies seemed to be immune to this lag, maybe our latency makes the difference, who knows. i’m just kitten because this happens so many time i can’t count it during the wvw nights. culling is worst than ever, it’s impossible to roam without a commander active, because of the culling on allies. i feel like a B series player in this game, i’m sure many feels like me, and probably that’s the biggest fail for anet besides bad choices and wrong priorities.
I’ve had this happen to me previously on 2 occasions at smc, both when a large guild was present and held it.
The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”

I am getting this problem too, not just in wvw but in sme dungeons too (had an issue in arah and also doing the temple for grenth)

Since the culling ‘fix’ I’ve had massive lag. I go into a battle, and it’s just like… I get locked up, can’t move, make some pretty weird positions on my screen, and then I’m downed.
I haven’t been to EB since Friday morning, but it was hell there, just as you describe.
I appreciate being able to see more people, but I’d almost rather not if I’m not going to be able to actually play.

And culling is worse than it has ever been. I quit, for at least this week.
I can understand lag in the full queue SM battles… but it never lagged like this on borderlands. Wouldn’t mind ANet experimenting with the map caps as long as we get a heads up lol (assuming that’s the issue).
I have had this happen twice since reset. Only it was obvious it was the other side that got hit. It was bad enough my gf looked at me and said something along the lines of, it looks like they are in slow motion. Why aren’t they moving?

This is their servers. Large 3 way fights at SM always have utility skills that wont activate or other crazy anomalies. write arena net to buy better servers

Anywho..
I had an interesting incarnation of this last night. My skills seemed to have slight lag, but not too bad. However, I was fighting in EB and my character got frozen in place for ~20 seconds. I was still able to give and receive damage, no skill lag, but NO movement.
Immobilize you say? Well, despite the zerg of 20 applying conditions, it only showed up at first. Even then, I was running ether renewal on my ele and even during the short times when I had zero conditions, still no movement. This, of course, resulted in death. Though, I am quite happy with how long my new build is holding out against such issues (s/f with lightning hammer as well as d/f with the same, no cantrips).
As for posting this in other forums, I dont personally do that because they are scary and new!

Quoting the thief players of these forums: It is a just a learn to play issue. ;-)
Honestly this lag and the new “improved” culling has been horrible. It can take even >15 seconds to activate the skill (this happened with two huge enemy zergs attacking Desolation controlled Stonemist castle). Sometimes my character was frozen still despite I wasn’t stunned nor immobilized. A lot of people are complaining in map and private chat about the same issue. So I am sure I am not alone.

Why do we even keep playing this game?
Dear Anet: you broke your game. The latest culling fix did not improve culling, significantly decreased the ability to see teammates, and has caused a huge lag on skill activations.
Your game is no longer about skill, or strategy. Your game now awards winners and losers of battles based on who can use skills, and who spams skills for 10 seconds before dying without getting a skill off.
This is my first ever post on this forum.
Fix what you broke. You have made your game unplayable.
