I’m not going to necro the the post, but a while ago, ANET ask us on our opinion about WvW’s future. Would we want (i) more involved feedback and small incremental changes, or (ii) let the team work and focus on it addressing the big picture in adjusting the fundamentals of WvW.

The forum here voted overwhelmingly for the latter. I think that also implied that ANET would not be able to have time to tell us what’s going on until they are sure of it being release. Heck, most game development doesn’t tell you the details until they have beta servers up and running. I think something similar applies here.

Does anyone else remember that post? ANET gave us a great game in GW2, here’s to hoping new adventures will come to the mist in due time.

I don’t remember that post. My two cents on it though is that small incremental changes fits the micro-transaction free-to-play business model better. Players in such models want instant gratification, not have to wait for big down-the-road changes. That said, expansion packs like what were done in Guild Wars 1 should not be written off. I don’t understand the perceived aversion to them. Even subscription-based games like WoW sold expansion packs.

I don’t remember that thread either. The only time I remember them asking if we would like a small change soon or a big change later was in relation to the Commander Tag changes.

And from what I remember people said they’d rather have small changes like a simple color change sooner. But we got neither so it doesn’t even matter. Let’s face it folks, WvW is not going to see any significant or insignificant changes at all, ever.

I feel like since they can pump out pve mini updates every two weeks that they should be able to put out mini wvw updates (they’d have to hire a wvw development team first obviously). Could you imagine if they staggered the two. Had pve update on week, wvw/pvp update the next….that would be amazing! Even if it was just mini updates with a few bug fixes here and there.

That’s the problem right now, they release short LS updates which increase the number of players playing the game for a day or two, as the content can be done in a few hours.

Imagine just one new borderlands map.
Players who left will want to come back to see how it is. Current players will play for longer as they explore the new map to find choke points and area of tactical advantage, siege placements etc etc.
And they wont just be on for a couple of days, these players will most likely be on for weeks or even months!

Alternating between Pve and WvW/PvP would be a step in the right direction. But which staff member is going to suggest that to their management?
