A great step in the right direction...

to the Dev who came up with this beta testing idea, you deserve a big promotion!
Hopefully more of this will be implemented in Spvp as well, I think it will make the release of this map and any other new features that will be tested this way 10x better.
Let’s just hope it’s not a one step forward and 2 steps back approach, I can only pray that they actually listen to the “vocal minority” feedback instead of disregarding it as “if the majority playing doesn’t say anything or is quiting, then obviously nothings wrong”…which has to be the worst philosophy I’ve ever heard.
Just a pro tip to Arena Net, if a bunch of players quit a game and say they’re done with it, they become bitter about the game and hate on it instead, thus making it very hard to drag them back in, let’s stay in the direction of listening to the feedback giving forum users instead of the players that don’t actually say anything.

I’m pleased that ANet has finally adopted this sort of thing, but “the Dev who came up with this beta testing idea” probably died of old age long before ANet was even formed.

well what I meant is the Dev who actually decided on this idea to be implemented in gw2

A step is fine and a good start but right now we need a leap, in fact we need a few leaps to get WvW style PvP back on track. There is fun to be had but the way the game works at the minute makes it hard to find most nights.
But I’ll tip my hat for at least trying to appeal to GvG style gamers. Tho I’ll reserve total judgement until you provide the means for us to make that environment and work with it.
Keep up the good work. Finally you are willing to listen to the players, this should help a lot.

Your sig made me laugh.
:)
I just see one problem (well it’s not problem for me but it might be problem for viz and friends). Sound to me that this new map makes old maps kind of pointless. Why would i go play boring point game in old maps if i can have fun in new map?

I do not see it as a problem. It will simply be a way to separate the players playing for sever score from the players playing for GvG/good fights/fun and ignoring server score.
The new map will also give Arenanet the exceptional opportunity to get rid of the imbalance in WvW population between the servers. Dynamic and individual caps could be introduced for each matchup defined by the server with the lowest WvW population. This would create balanced and therefore more interesting fights on the official WvW maps.

This is actually a worry I share, if this is aimed towards GvG (Tho it probably isn’t) then what is to stop the map filling up with randoms just looking to troll?
The game needs to add a section for serious gamers to play, one where ONLY organised groups can enter. WvW is just a pug fill mess and it gets boring very fast, especially after a whole year and what’s worse is more and more good guilds are going inactive.
SPvP style paid arenas would be perfect for GvG, wouldn’t have to be overly complicated but it would have to use our PvE/WvW characters so it stays interesting, because those extra stats really make the game interesting in large scale fights.
They could even tie it in with the match-ups so you can only fight guilds your server is matched against with a few hundred points for a win.
As I said before I will reserve judgment until I am actually standing in this new area and feel it is being taken seriously by everyone else there.
We just want to fight.
