Who do we appeal to as WvW players to get some consideration from development?

Why do we have to go PvE and abandon a 24/7 competition to finish out our gear while our honor points remain pretty much useless?

I’m sitting on two backpacks I can’t finish out because it demands I abandon what I really purchased the game for to go do fractals.

Some servers are already struggling to have player coverage 24/7 on the map.

Also I wish I had come to the forum and read before I purchased this game because the WvW community feels completely overlooked and as I’ve learned in the short time I’ve been here going through update releases and forum post they have a reason to feel that way.

Seriously, as a hardcore WvW’er doing a little PVE won’t kill you. Your gear comes from PVE unless you buy with badges and since you can’t salvage those you better be sure you get what you want before you dump expensive runes into them.

Yes it is a 24 hour game mode but most know you get better rewards in PVE so the amount of time you spend in WvW to get your gear, maybe you could do PVE for half that time and farm enough gold to buy what you want. That way you can jump back into WvW.

OP you probably didn’t get a response because it is not as big of an issue as you are making it out to be. I spend 99% of my time in WvW and having to do a little PVE didn’t ruin the game for me.

It is actually a big deal to many of our wvw players. One of the better features of GW1 from other games at the time was the ability to come in and play pvp only if that is what you wished to do and not have to do PVE at all. And while they did that for the small arena pvp in this game, they did not do the same for wvw. If you only enjoy wvw, you should be able to access everything that is beneficial for wvw players in wvw. Including armor, runes, weapons, sigils siege food and utilities.

Some will never have access to that content due to not wanting to do pve at all. People play games to have fun, and if it isn’t fun for them why do it? For many WvW players, PVE just isn’t fun. Games should not feel like you are doing chores.

No, wvw players should not be forced to farm pve in order to enjoy wvw. One of the best features in GW1 was not having to farm to enjoy pvp, now they carried that over for the small arena pvp, but not for wvw in this game, and they should have. Many wvw players just do not even bother with ascended or legendaries due to this, because if it isn’t fun there is no point in feeling like you are " doing chores" on a game. People play games to relax and have fun and if that isn’t relaxing or fun to them, it isn’t worth doing it. We work in real life, a game should not feel like a job. Simply because it didn’t ruin the game for you, doesn’t mean it isn’t ruining the game for others. I play wvw and pvp on here, other than that I play pvp on other games. Not worth doing pve for some cheap pixel shiny. You should be able to attain everything you need to play wvw in wvw.

I understand what you are saying but main reason I like WvW is because I can mix and match my gear. I wouldn’t like it much if it was like in pvp where you pick a rune, sigils, amulet and that’s that. Lots of people mentioned that in these forums. He mentioned not being able to finish back packs. Back packs that most likely came from PVE events. I don’t like everything that PVE has to offer skin wise but when I do see one I like I do a little PVE to get it. That’s where I don’t see it as being a big issue. If they actually did separate WvW gear from PVE gear well I would need more bank space then game allows to carry gear for each game mode.

You actually can. I’ve geared several alt using badges and they still use exotic gear which I purchased from the vendors. Ascended is for those that want the highest stats but will say no matter what gear a player has, player skill > gear

I agree, I do not think they should apply the pvp system to wvw, but instead allow you to gain everything you need in wvw. Either by adding wvw reward tracks like they have for pvp or through drops or badge shopping. You should be able to obtain the highest stats from playing wvw alone, and not have it take forever. PVE loot should not be so superior to wvw loot that you would have to play much longer to obtain the same benefits. It should be better balanced to suit both play styles. Of course skill > gear, but when you are fighting equally skilled players, it is the gear that will make a difference. What we want is to have equal skill and equal gear to have good fights.

And dont forget all the pennies Anet makes from HoT wont be used to update WvW as much as we want it to.

More reasons to not buy it!

1. Notice that your backpack isn’t ascended yet.
2. Wait til the day after the biggest skills/traits patch the game has seen ever.
3. Start a forum thread demanding a specific unpaid volunteer community-rep respond to your sweeping-yet-nebulous concerns.
4. Come back a mere five hours later and say you’re quitting because nobody listens to you.

It’s also annoying. I can’t and won’t offer any such special treatment and besides, I don’t speak for Arenanet. But since this conversation is going somewhere, I guess I’ll speak for myself…

The issue of ascended progression is a hot button topic especially for alt-heavy people (and account bound is STILL annoying as hell to swap around and IMO not a sufficient solution), and had they stuck with their gears to raise it to 10% I would have it higher in the priority list, but as it stands it remains an non-critical, though still existent issue.

The backpiece issue I just don’t see as a gigantic one because you can craft a cheap exotic backpiece for a few gold and it is better than comparable exotic backpieces even considering it can only take a l65 thingy. It’s also the most marginal increase of stats. Furthermore, the backpieces that require relics are connected directly with pve content— so naturally it’s going to have to require pve. My server didn’t die when I went to get Mawdrey; I don’t think any individual is THAT important unless they all go out to pve. In any case, 5/8 of my characters are using those crafter backpacks.

I think it’s fair enough to suggest ways to obtain a wvw ascended backpiece and earrings (I think earrings are annoying as well). And badge gear I would say is in a bad shape atm as well.

As for the pvp/wvw thing. Well, PvP was designed to be a competition with normalized builds and wvw ultimately, as much as a lot of us would hate to say it, is ultimately connected to pve or else they would have never had pve gear in here in the first place. Are the rewards for WvW crap? Yes, yes, they are. I don’t really care too much since I still am churning out more ascended pieces and the only real pve I do these days is Teq and quick dailies (and not even that much anymore). So for gearing status

Guardian- full asc, although alternate roaming set is like 2/6 asc armor.
Engineer- 4/6 exotic armor, rest asc. Interestingly, one of the armor pieces was found
Necro Exotic armor, rest asc
Ele- Exotic armor, earrings & back, rest asc
Ranger- Exotic armor, bp, secondary weapons, rest asc
Thief- Exotic armor except for asc chest,(found, omg) bp , rest asc)
