Alright, we’ve all heard about it being rather hard to increase/modify Borderlands map sizes due to “technical limitations.” What I’d like to know, in this matter, is simple.
Namely, is the major problem:

  1. Having to account not only for map size in general, but the extra rendering of all potential combatants?
  2. Something about how the map textures are coded in, directly?
  3. A completely unrelated technical concern?

I ask this, due to the fact that we regularly see new “maps” or dungeons coded in for PvE/PvP, but -as many WvWers have mentioned- our BL maps consist of EB and three
“Identical Triplet” Borderlands.

1 is a separate issue tied to population size, not the size of the map itself.

I assume the most likely issue is the client not being able to load a bigger map in memory without taking a non-trivial performance hit.

The “technical limitation” is that none of you guys would be willing to run for 20 minutes to get from the spawn to north camp.
