A serious discussion about WvW development
The devs have made it clear what they planning on doing with WvW: nothing. I mean sure, we’ll get a small footnote in the features patches. Golem mastery, woop de do. And a new tourney every now and then to even more obviously unbalance the servers as people flood to the ones they think will win for rewards.
Looking at past patch notes I notice something pretty big. The notes for new additions to the gem store – heck, even the notes for just a quaggan backpack or something of no actual gameplay value (I like cosmetics, but WvW is real gameplay), get a larger note than WvW does.
This is what the metrics say. Cater to the PvE players, as they are more likely to throw money at the game in the form of gems to gold. Meanwhile, give the WvW players the table scraps to try and keep them from quitting and giving competitors their business.
But we’re fed up with table scraps.
The developers need to communicate with us. It was only a few weeks ago we saw the big post, “Communicating with you” basically saying they need to do a better job. So here’s your chance to make waves in the WvW community.
All you have to do is say, “We are working on something.”

No. That’s not all they have to do anymore. Not for me at least. I have been spoon-fed that line of garbage for what seems like ages, as have many people, people who have quit for games that actually have content being added and fixed.
ANet needs to show me exactly what we’ve been requesting on the WvW forums and build back my trust. If they build it back far enough and then mess up once or twice, then they can say they are working on it. Right now though, they need to show some results.
I dont know from where this myth came, “WvW players dont buy gems”.
Trust me, a lot hardcore WvW players buying gems, and not with gold but with real money.
Yeah I think wvw players are more likely to buy gems with real money cause they don’t have any gold to buy them with.
Darkwood Legion [DARK]
Yak’s Bend

If that’s the case shouldn’t more time spent on WvW be made?
The interesting thing is; there are dozens of possible WvW items that they could add to the gem store. If we brainstormed a list I’m sure we could come up with a few that would work.
Just off the top of my head:
Name: Deployable Siege Pile
Cost: 400 gems
Uses: 3x
Description: Deploy a siege pile with 200 supply that lasts for 5 minutes. Supply does not respawn and the pile is destroyed once all supply is taken.
Would people buy something like that? yes. Would it unbalance WvW? probably. Is WvW already unbalanced? yes.

They could make unique golem models….
They could make unique golem models….
Gem shop siege skins has been suggested a while ago, a good long time ago. Commander tag skins, all kinds of cosmetic stuff.
Other than WvWvW, I don’t find anything else in GW2 enjoyable. I used to buy gems quite a bit but that has come to an end. My roaming account on BG has been catching dust(we are now playing AA), I log off my TC GvG/Raid account as soon as I know there are no GvGs. Hubby’s two accounts are also catching dust. It’s become depressing to log in.
There are those among us who’d like to believe that since these Anet employees are now on their roster and voice comms that somehow after two years they’re the special snowflakes that are in the loop about all the great and wonderful things in the pipes for WvWvW. GW2’s combat is great, hands down and I’d love to eat crow if it receives steady, well planned and executed updates(major changes, not another 3 tag colors in a year) but I have a pretty good idea what’s in store for WvWvW.
The devs aren’t allowed to say, regardless of whether they’re in the guild.

I think depressed is how WvW has made me feel lately. I don’t care about losing, but matches like this week just kill the game for a lot of people.
On one side you can’t control points long enough to gain points, and roaming is almost impossible due to enemy numbers.
On the other side you have nothing to do except upgrading points and harassing enemy spawn, which in turn, makes life even harder for lower tier servers.
At that point, I’d say match-ups NA vs EU wouldn’t be such a bad idea, especially for higher tier servers. I don’t know much about european servers, but SR vs BG seems like it would be interesting.
Attached is a picture of earlier today. TC had everything capped in Eternal Battlegrounds so we decided to hold our grounds, with siege, in front of FA’s spawn. Good job on that push by the way.
NA vs EU would create bigger lag problems though. Ever notice how difficult it is to get OCX/SEA guilds to transfer to EU servers? Playing on a 500+ ms ping is just not worth it.

Nice hold TC! Looking forward to the BBQ meet later! Yak Burgers all around?
WWW is unbalanced and devs refuse to do anything about it.
WWW is about coverage (i experienced some matchups with balanced points of just pvdoor at different time .-. ex server A from 3 to 8, server B from 8 to 12, server C in the afternoon and so on…).
WWW was designed as casual PvP
At this point the only question i have is:
Why do we have a “tournament”? Isn t just better to play the unbalanced www for the sake of it?
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
How can you have a serious discussion about WvW development when there is NO WvW development?
If a serious discussion from the devs and mods is “We cant talk about it”, you know there is something seriously wrong, especially since they have been saying this for 18 months for almost everything!!!
Just watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjo8MklCiLI&list=UUCfCEMsG-zyhYKXwiFELTug
4:16 When that other guy says “There’s nothing we can say at this time” and them laughs like that; why does he laugh at a comment like that? Unless that’s what they’ve been told to tell everything instead of “We arent working on WvW”. It really does seem like an inside joke to these guys!
5:30 Interviewer reminds Devon that they talked about precusor crafting during the first year of release, here we are after 2 years and still nothing. And what does Devon say “Nothing to announce”
Also just look at him use his fingers to punctuate “Soon” at 6:14, if that isnt enough to kitten you off I dont know what will!
You just have to watch there interview video to see these guys grin and try to say “We cant talk about it” in so many ways to fill several 20 minute interviews.
Just look at them go! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Kk3CDbAO0M
