I really enjoy this game… and I’d really like to keep playing it… but it’s absolutely no fun when your server is always outnumbered 20:1 and one of the other servers hold everything. They even have so many people with nothing better to do, that they have groups of people just hanging out at camps in our own border land just waiting for us to try to retake them. I thought this game promised to focus more on skill… but instead it has turned into a zerg fest. Even if we try to run a break out event, they send a zerg and just crush it… Why does anet allow this type of thing to occur? It seems like this would be easily fixed by limiting the number of invaders (at least in the border lands) by a percentage of the lowest populated server (or at least the border lands owner). If we have 50 people in our BL, then they should only be able to have 60 or 75 at the most. Right now, they can have 1000+… the 50 people on our server get mad and guess what they do… transfer servers (just adding to the problem). If the zerg servers are limited to some percentage, then they would get queued for WvW. They would get mad that they are having to wait, and guess what… they transfer servers (and hopefully to one that isn’t overpopulated).

Please do something before I completely lose interest in playing this game or transfer my characters to a zerg server.

How can your server always be outnumbered? Wouldn’t your server inevitably drop in “rating” till it reached enemies that were of a similar “number”? Or do you just not know how/when/where to join in and, as such, tend to end up on the proverbial short end of the stick?

Sure… Good idea. So during NA night time, e other server oceanic prime time would not be able to night cap everything. Oh, but wait, during your NA prime time, no one can login also because its e other server oceanic Zerg night time.

Good job, you just turn wvw into spvp.

Thats actually not true.

Just today in the reset opening night we killed a 80 man Zerg with around 10 people.

We were all manning arrow cards, and just nuked the whole Zerg away as they where rushing on the bay lord.

I guess thats one of the reasons we are Nr. 1 in Europe.

Skill, coordination and planning > Zerg.

If you are a group of 50 random uncoordinated people with no clue about WvW, then you can’t expect to win against organized guilds with 500 man power, and you will drop in the ladder, facing a server that fits your numbers soon.

I reject the premise in the OP argument. In order to have a solution one has to agree on the problem. I don’t agree that “zergs” or “zerg’ing” is a problem. I also don’t accept the characterization of “zerg servers.”

I have spent time on about half the servers in the fleet. My main; however, is permanently parked on JQ. I have met some amazing people on HIGH pop servers and LOW pop servers and I have come to understand that there is extraordinary cultural diversity among and between our servers.

Vomiting out a tantrum and threatening a rage quit is simply unproductive.

I’m sorry that your experience has not been aligned with your expectations. You can either seek out new experiences or change your expectations. There are alternative server choices for you. And you can always reset your definition of success.

Ultimately, you must accept personal responsibility for your own “meaningful play” and quality recreational time. ANet does not own your right to decide what server will bring you the most joy.

The decision to transfer is yours… and yours alone.

Bottom Line: Own your own happiness!

The reason we are regularly outnumbered is that we went from T1 to T7. Yes we are going down in ranking, but it’s taking months. I’ve been playing since beta, so I understand the mechanics of WvW and that isn’t the problem. The problem is because we reached T1, things got difficult… it was harder to make progress and large guilds started jumping ship to T8 servers, building huge zergs and then climbing the ladder by obliterating everyone else.

And yes, occasionally skill can defend against a zerg, but in my experience zerg servers usually come back with even more people and eventually overpower you anyway… so your victory is short lived. Right now, Kaingeng is even camping our spawn. We have built seige weapons inside our spawn and can treb them for points. You can almost fire at random spots and kill 4-5 of them because there are so many. For everyone who thinks this is fair and I’m just being overly critical or don’t understand the game, then I challenge you to transfer to GoM or HoD and show us what we are doing wrong.

My point was that there needs to be some incentive for people to join underpopulated servers or leave overpopulated ones. Right now, it’s in everyones best interest to join the most populated server with the lowest rank and just zerg your way through WvW and that’s what a lot of the big guilds are doing.

10 vs 80 and you win?? nice joke, you vs 80 in a full upgraded keep with people running from walls??be real, 10 vs 80 you will LOSE 90% times, and you will win against 80 if you are in a full upgraded and fortified keep/castle against people without siege machines.

against zergs you can win battles, but you will lose the match.

OP is right, as it is now, server rankings is only a “meter” to its WvW population, no particular skills or strategic planning involved.
Try and find the real reasons why your server is n.1 in Europe elsewhere please, and cut this “we are the best” thingy, no offence

You might wish to review the title. Zerging isn’t the subject, server disparity is, and I don’t see you giving a solution.

Checking the scores I assume you’re HoD. You had a false start, and have been moving to your correct tier. Loss strings cost you players, and currently you happen to face Kaineng (who iirc just got some numbers, the very thing you wish for ).

Your task now is to get back the confidence. I’d suggest, hold regular server WvW events with your server’s bigger guilds (may wanna wait for Kaineng to promote :P). Get enough people to fill a few maps, even if it’s for a few hours, and those hours should go well. If that succeeds it’ll be a matter of organizing, and you can get some positive momentum again. Players who left WvW may see the scores and figure it’s worth a try again.

Aside from that, I agree there should be some incentives to join servers that are undermanned, and as I suggested elsewhere, it could be in the form of a scaling “outmanned buff”, depending on average server WvW activity. I should note, the primary purpose of this isn’t so much to promote the smaller servers, but to discourage “joining the winning team”, as that’d then seriously reduce the rewards you gain.

I see the problem not in the free transfer itself – the problem some servers face is that their w3 comm is just based 50% and more by hopping guilds and do not really have a consistent comm available…
