There is a problem wvw has had ever since launch; it doesn’t have enough rewards built in, so most new players trying out the game mode don’t stay because it doesn’t feel rewarding enough, veteran players have to leave WvW and play PvE maps because WvW is not self sustainable, and playing competitively costs enough money that it is actually a gold sink.
So here’s my idea:
Defending:
Everytime you kill someone near an objective you own, you gain “Defender’s resolve”, it stacks and ends 2 minutes after you last kill someone, when it ends you get a reward based on the number of stacks you had when it ended. Only 1 stack per unique player can be active on you.
Attacking:
Everytime you kill someone near an enemy objective you gain “Raider’s fervor”, it stacks and it is consumed when you capture the objective, you get a reward based on the number of stacks and the type of objective, so for camps the stacks are capped at 10 and towers at 50, etc.
This encourages zergs to seek eachother, steal and contest caps, and disentivizes colluding and capping empty towers. it also rewards defenders, even if they dont succed in fending off a zerg they still get rewarded.
The rewards could be like pvp reward tracks (or gold), but I personally like the idea of champion bags that have a chance to drop weapons with unique wvw skins, maybe make the weapons sellable on the tp and offer an upgrade that you can buy with a lot of badges of honor, just a suggestion.
