Yeah, although it takes me ages to place siege on stairs “oh we lost all camps around me and I still haven’t gotten this AC down”.

Not long ago it was very possible for 15 people to defend a T3, fully sieged keep against a huge blob. Arrow carts were the main part of such defence.

But now ACs are virtually useless. Now you can’t defend anything if you are outnumbered because ACs can’t reach rams.

Thanks then for making karma train blobbing even more easy peasy effortless.

It was also possible for a large zerg to kill all defensive siege with 1 offensive AC. Let’s not kid ourselves and pretend ACs were perfect before. Higher walls seems to be a fix for this in HoT. I hope if /when (hopefully when!) they bring back alpine borderlands, they make all the walls much higher and thicker.

what it came down was knowledge and organization. when the ktrain blob comes around its unlikely they were in ts and just throw siege randomly. if the defenders were properly prepared the mindless blob would be forced to pull off more often than not

if a group using good communication arrives, scouts around and realizes they need to desiege first they will probably take the tower. that is the difference.

after this change I disbanded the defense team on my server, the scout network quickly crumbled right after. we incorporated all kinds of players of every level of skill who just wanted to play and contribute to the server.

if you dont fight, blob or pvd you rly have no place in wvw now. this change was very bad for small servers trying to organize and fight the larger populations.

this needs fixing… put it back to the way it was before until it is fixed. At the moment it disadvantages defenders far too much.

The worse one is that you have no line of sight through arrow slits in walls… kitten … those slits on the sides of real life castles are not just there for decoration or to let the light inside. They’re there to shoot arrows out of while making it more difficult for incoming arrows to hit gain entry.

Map is supposed to be about strategically moving your ‘army’ around and getting as many points as you can. Not brute-forcing your way in to any place you want. If a full map of players is sitting in a keep you shouldn’t be able to take it and should just move along. Yes, they will likely try to get into the next objective you attack, so cut them off and you can take their other objectives.

For the love of god – remove first person view from wvw – I don’t give a kitten whether or not 3 roleplayers will be upset about this but defending is impossible like this and you can’t imagine how frustrating that is. Really, before you implement anything hampering with wvw mechanics – test it. And if it doesn’t work don’t bring it into the game.
I had a tiny chance to save veloka just now – but oh no! none of the ACs could hit the catas on the side of it – great. But ACs built on the ground still hit my defensive siege.

Let us not forget, though, that the new LoS calculations make it safer to be at the bottom of a wall than the top. Hence the incredible success of proxy catapults and the miserable failure of wall siege.

best thing a gw2 player can do is not to take care or worry about anything.

i dont make suggestions or reports to these “pay for comfort”-mmo hosters anymore.

if another game comes out with better realm vs realm id say good bye.

we have the problem with gw2 that it got not enough serious competitors for realm vs realm. its only the market that would make them move, posts on the forums they dont care about, the gemstore skin sales are there so from their sight “game is successful” “players like the game otherswise they not buy in store”.

how many times people have reported stuff and made suggestions for functions or content anet could easy create cause they can.

its not that everything is sooooo complex. they dont want to work on it.

for the AC thing:
show me one single arrow cart in the real world that can shoot in a way the gw2 acs do.

you wont find any ac irl which can just be fired infront of a wall and hit something inside the building…. the angle alone makes it impossible to hit over the wall.

i sincerely whish that community complete stops to buy on the gemstore for half year. you will be suprised how fast you see game updates flying in which fix all that crap and deliver content.

Really? A comparison to real life is your case? I mean, I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen men hurling infinite hammers at distant objects either, or giant icicles forming mid-air and plunging into the ground on command for that matter. Or shield generators. Or lords who can take all manner of incoming damage without so much as being scratched – until their timers tick down to 0:00.

The arrow cart, on the other hand, makes reasonable enough sense. It flings arrows upward at an angle and speed relevant to its target location. Gravity/tactical mechanics. Sit at a wall and fire a very slightly angled shot, and it will come down on the other side. Fire with more tension/power/drawback, and it will land further.

I don’t know how easy it would be to code, but rather than changing the FOV, it would make more sense for an AC in such a blind position to have a far wider and much less effective damage radius.

Ah, this is what I’ve been waiting for. Will this allow dropping arrows much longer distances downward as well? (Not further away horizontally, but further vertically?)

Here is to hoping that they fix Dragons Tooth before the launch of the expansion after Heart of Thorns!

Its not bugged, the ability doesn’t require line of sight, it just requires you to be able to target a person or object.

Dragons Tooth should be checked by Line of sight. Dragons Tooth or any other skill from players for that matter should go off on a player that is “safe” behind their walls, out of Line of sight. Be it a bug or an exploit, it should be looked into.

I posted these in one of the past AC threads that got locked but the wonderful wvw community basically told me it was a l2p issue I was having..

Anyone reporting issues is told to “L2P” by players.

Worse, being told in email by Anet that they have no idea what happened, why the whatever the issue is can’t be fixed and not to play the toon.

Anet knows how to fix things – make sure the community doesn’t have correct info and make sure their email support has zero contact with any software teams.

Good game – when it works – which is becoming less and less often.
