Why did you let your player “GMs” leak the information on the server combines to Blackgate (where a lot of them are players and run around with their ANet tags on their names, while playing – yes we aren’t blind, we see you guys) well in advance of the combine, so they could rig themselves to be combined with the only server that had any real WvW population in the bottom tier by not doing any PPT during the “statistics” week? This left the real low population server in Tier 1 – Jade Quarry – in a severely disadvantaged position YET AGAIN.

If you were going to do this, why couldn’t you use REAL server population numbers in WvW – and don’t tell me you don’t have them – instead of allowing the cheaters and exploiters to once again come out on top?

You guys should be ashamed of yourselves.

I’m not even going to mention the lack of forethought in server caps which caused 100 person queues five minutes after reset on every BL …

Well, I never got an answer to this and Blackgate is now 100K ahead of the other closest server in PPT, due to having so many people now, so … <sarcasm> WTG with those server/tier balance issues, guys! <sarcasm off>

The queues were the first night…haven’t been seen since. And I’m aware of the transfers and the server populations both before and after. JQ had the lowest WvW population.

JQ was a server on life support before the changes, it was only a matter of time, and you are blaming this on Anet? Just accept that JQ is not a T1 server any longer, I know the other guilds have that’s why they transfered.

I am on JQ, and our server is full of over and pvp er. So most of my friends don’t are about WvW. I remeber one week into the league JQ barely had 5% of chart.

ET has been great to work with, they bring a lot of small team play which is something BG has not had enough of in the past.

Well, I posted this while you were (pretending to be) losing, so I guess I’m a prophet, huh? And as for why I would post this and not be on JQ … it’s called “Big Picture.” Try looking at it — it’s more than just the big white screen in your local cinema. If ANet tries to fix this and then their player GMs go behind their backs and tell the servers they play on, how is that helping the game, overall? I could give a kitten about BG or JQ – what I care about is the integrity of WvW as a whole and how cheaters are affecting it.

Thank you all for posting, btw. I have achieved my purpose – maybe next time ANet tries to “fix” something, they will not tell people who have a personal stake in a particular server who are likely to leak info to them. Thanks for keeping this topic up top, guys, where (hopefully) an ANet rep will see it. I really appreciate your support.

I was posting the T1 Q’s last weekend. It’s incredibly disingenuous of you to say BG didn’t receive the lions share of players from the pairings. BG Q’d every map, including OS! That’s more than 400 players over what is required to Q all 4 maps. But, that’s ok because BG needed the help right?

Blackgate is called Hibergate for a reason. Only major shift of population that came from the “leak” is players moving to TC.

And that unconfirmed post with no source from anet did what exactly for us? The update brought a lot of players back to the game, and BG is always out in force on weekends anyways, especially resets. Why is anyone surprised that with more people coming back, and the added players of a linked server that we had a lot of players on?

People in t8 were complaining that their maps were dead for a long time, but suddenly oh its ET thats the problem?

Because NDA’s are not given for live beta testing on public servers lol. At least not to my knowledge, if I am wrong, please prove it.

An Anet GM publicly asked on Reddit on which person might be leaking info. It’s safe to say that we’ll never know at this point.

You’d be correct since the last time i bothered to WvW, I was on the receiving end of a 20v4 and a 30-40v8 compliments of ET. As bad as AR ended up, I took one look at T1 and Yaks and hung up the bow.

In this case it was to BG in order to focus JQ to force them to drop in order for TC to move up as quickly as possible. So he moved guilds in your favor in return for you focusing JQ down.

So your beastmode is so 1980’s. Your just fighting servers with half the forces they had before. Your skill didn’t increase. You just outblob. Happy K-train days to you. Enjoy them before Mal has TC in tier 1. Then you might actually have to learn to fight again.

As I said elsewhere, WvW is now completely devoid of being a competitive game mode. Anet is directly manipulating the outcome by setting matches and pairings manually. Whatever last Frak’s we had to give and any last bit of World Pride saved are now lost. Building a competitive World was a part of what made WvW the game mode it was.

Wait….anet sponsors present scrub guilds in wvw? AHAHHAHAHA. All the true power houses are gone forever, I wouldn’t consider present guilds anything special.

BG had plenty of pop before the merge. All the queues are mostly bg players. Also last time I checked most ppl on YB were happy with being linked to AR. I am not on BG, just find the logic of these complaints too out there.

ET can’t even queue a map by themselves on reset. The queues were 90% BG.

BG’s always had a large population. We were the #1 server destination for PvE players (due to first Teq kill and NA first triple headed wurm kill), competitive sPvP players (due to a larger server for lower queue times) as well as World vs World players (we got a ton of fairweathers due to having #1 ranking) before megaservers. Anyone that’s played GW2 for a couple years should know this. I don’t know why anyone is surprised

BG has always been a sleeping giant. Why anyone is surprised that they woke up amazes me. When BG wants to come out in force, it does.

Reality set in for some people and they cant seem to handle it lol, even though we kept telling them it would happen. These servers can no longer stay competitive but want to lash out at everyone else so they can find people to place the blame on. Its either they stay in the tier and get crushed and blame the other server for blobbing and having to many people. Or they drop and blame it on some backroom conspiracy.

Hey people servers drop sometimes, I was on a losing server for a long time, from tier 1 to t8, this stuff happens, its not the end of the world. I personally didnt want JQ to drop, but its not our fault you lost your lead over YB last week, if you cant stay competitive you drop, simple as that.

So the consensus from the BG players is that BG is the “giant” of WvW? Then you must all agree that the Dev’s made a grievous mistake or was playing favoritism. As pairing the “giant” with the best of the three T8 worlds should not have occurred.

Honest question, if JQ got linked with ET, you still think you would have been able to stay competitive? Don’t get me wrong, I liked fighting JQ, I was kinda surprised with the matchups this week like so many others. My point was that JQ could not sustain the coverage needed to stay competitive in t1. Trying to blame the pairings is a bit ridiculous, we all got linked with a t8 server, and t8 wasnt exactly known for blobs. JQ already had a weaker na/eu presence before the transfers, and was basically carried by their OCX/SEA. The recent update brought a lot of people back to BG and we are focused on winning matchups again, as we do when there is incentive to care. A lot of JQ guilds left because they wanted to start over on a new server and get a change of scenery, that’s understandable, if people are not happy they will go somewhere else. They have to look out for their guilds, people don’t spend all that time trying build up and maintain guilds just to sit around and watch it collapse.

My advice is to try to help rebuild your server whichever way you can, focus on coordination and communication with whatever forces you have on. Create a friendly welcoming environment with your linked server that will encourage them to engage in teamwork. But going on here and blaming everyone and everything is just a waste of time.

I guess both sides are right.
There was a leak and Anet tried to change the pairings after the leak which ended up in a “balance wise” stupid connection of servers. I really like the people from IoJ but it’s not the server which balances the matchups.
JQ was always on full for SEA, high for OCX and medium on NA. EU was either non existent or medium. IoJ looks like a medium to high OCX/SEA community with low population on EU and NA.

JQ lost most of what was left on NA and still has a very low EU population.
YB community was destroyed by the same people that left BG and the server switching from former JQ and SoR players.
So BG looks really strong now after the new matchups which is exactly what most people having played against BG would have expected. BG always was the largest of the T1 servers and they always knew how to “manipulate” the wvw numbers by not participating and being able to get transfers that way.

What Anet really shoud consider to avoid creating new fotm servers and reward players working with the servers community is to stop transfering from accounts by making every transfer even more expensive. Make the transfer costs rise with every transfer you do and balance the servers not by “daily participation” alone.
