On my staff ele I wouldn’t mind if you made them smaller, but decrease the execution time as well. Right now the rings are huge, yes, but so is the time before they fire off.
Ice spike and Eruption are not very trust worthy damage skills outside of huge fights. On any other situation you pretty much use them to make the enemy feel a little bit more uncomfortable somewhere as they have to run outside of the ring (yea you can just walk out of it to “evade” the damage).
Meteor shower… well… if you let Ele to channel that baby to the end well yea. MS is mostly useful to use on walls etc, where it can reach far and the meteors are more consentrate as theres less where the meteors can land. On the open field fights it can be used the same as ice spike and eruption, but for bigger groups. It’s are denial on most situations as anyone with half brain will walk out of the ring when they first see it (huge red ring that takes roughly 1 second before first meteor lands and roughly 3 seconds before its at full speed).

You know you can build a siege where nobody can hit it and hit any caster you want?
You can also use a ranger or warrior and hit at 1500.
Or you can go to kill the caster stuck in his channelling for 4 seconds.
Or you can ask to remove profession from the game because you can t defend a keep alone against a Greater attacking force.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

But, OP is still complaining in the same sense. It was also not just one staff ele that hurt him so badly.
Regardless, it screams L2P issue.
RvR isn’t “endgame”, it’s the only game. Cu in CU.

Here’s a mind blowing revelation: siege isn’t supposed to be able to accomplish anything without infantry support.
You’re right “simply mind blowing” the way a post goes from being about an elementist aoe size to being lump into 2 unrelated classes, being stomped, (didn’t happen), to you preaching about siege and infantry support. Yep… simply “mind blowing” the way you people talk about everything except the points I bought up. Thanks for your insight.
The only rings that need a nerf are the one that Frodo has and Siege Rings.
As someone who has been on the pain side of Ele skills and tried to utilize them myself (albeit not at max level traits), I can say: A couple of the rings may be large, but if you look over Ele skills yourself, it isn’t as amazing as it seems. The best time I have had with utilizing them is when we were bottlenecking peeps on a bridge, or in a small corridor. If people are spread out, I die embarrassingly fast while trying to plant them half the time.
I’m more afraid of Arrow Carts than I ever am of Ele rings. Those things are the red ring of death reincarnated.

ele staff fire #5 can touch u if traited and make 2k dmg/shot (more or less 10k-18k) on crit
necro wells traited = conditions spammer (and syphoning if traited)
mesmer focus #4 can pull u
engy nade (some aoe nade can do)
and if u place siege in a wrong place on the wall u miss some place where the ac must hit
the fact remains there are a lot of skills that have overpowered effects in WvW particularly the AoE skills that kill siege real easy.
towers camps yaks and keeps haven’t been touched since launch, so lack of any adjustments to ANYTHING for 2+ years is pretty ridiculous.
they have same bad yak pathing, the same low walls that don’t even match up or even match historically (we don’t have boulders to roll off walls so why the ramps on the outside?) , the same gates that melt when ya sneeze on them, the same mechanics everywhere, it’s just stale and the people that worked on this stuff in the beginning seem to refuse to even try and fix or touchup the old maps.
but let’s just play in the tournament and have fun and trust in anet that yes they are going to do something
Whats the master plan here? There has to be a motive behind all these things that’s happening right now, is not happening by chance.
The karma train speaks, mate. They want it to be easier to attack then defend (and given the map population caps, it already is).
It’s not that siege on walls gets destroyed easily, everything on walls get destroyed easily. Many player weapon AoEs can coat the entire surface while a six inch lip causes LoS issues for people trying to attack from the walls. It’s stupid and it’s always been stupid.
