Upgrades take forever to get going. It takes 60 Yak trips to upgrade a tower’s walls. That pretty much never happens for towers during prime time, and if it does, it can take more than two hours to accomplish. A server with perfect coverage can still capture everything and reset all of the upgrades, which will make it impossible to hold anything. I think upgrade requirements should be toned down so that they are conceivable during hours where a paper tower cannot last an hour and a camp cannot last 15 minutes.

If upgraded keeps and towers where considerably weaker I would be all for lowered dolly counts and faster upgrade pace. But not like they are now. T3 keeps in particular is a complete pain to take and slow the gameplay down to a crawl.

I actually feel the upgrading, specially keeps, should be much-much slower. Capturing higher tier keeps is just boring waste of time.

uh no it isn’t. In the past not only do I have to babysit yaks, I also had to keep on reminding people not to take supply, then I had to spend my own gold(After getting 0 gold for the hour) on upgrading. Now all I really need to do is babysit yaks, which is fine.

Just because you like the change doesn’t mean no one else was against it.
Players have asked for years for the cost of upgrades to be removed (or switched to karma/badges) but the auto upgrades are terrible and lazy. It needs to go back to being player initiated.

IMHO upgrades should take forever during a prime/peak time. It means there is activity on the map. It means if you want that sucker to upgrade, you have to be skilled enough to do it. Most upgrades in this game occur during periods of low activity. It’s kind of dumb only because paper towers and keeps usually ends up in more fights, just how players fight over a paper SMC more than they do a T3 SMC.

Just because you like the change doesn’t mean no one else was against it.

I can throw that right back at you, just because you don’t like the change, doesn’t mean that everybody else was also against it.

The purely timer based auto upgrade was too lazy. But the current one is fine, you can very much prevent an objective from upgrading as long as you continue to snipe yaks and retake camps. For most objectives a single roamer can do this, for some you may need 2-3.

Which is why I am actually in favor of faster but weaker upgrades. With faster upgrades we would avoid keeps seemingly being at a standstill in prime (either T3 and no one want/can touch it or paper and flipping every 15m) and with weaker upgrades (like, every wall upgrade adds just 20% to hp or similar with no siege damage reduction) it would still mean more active defenses are required. Faster and weaker would also shift more PPT to upgrading structures when that is implemented.

Slow as sloth and stronk upgrades just isnt fun IMO. Makes structures too static.

Keep upgrade are probably fine.
But tower should be faster, and same for the camp.
You can probably do :
5/10/20 for supply camp
10/20/40 for tower.
And the actual 20/40/80 for keep.

Then you have to balance the doly travel time on ABL like it was before. Just adjust the respawn time for the doly on the supply camp who are very close to the keep (like sw camp and bay).

And people who complain about upgrade cost are really funny…. Just watch how much cost the guild upgrade now ! 1 guild upgrade can be the same price that a full upgraded keep before HoT !

The old upgrade system was fine ! Just remove the cost, but keep the manual trigger and the old management (choose to rush WP or wall).
Maybe add guild management. If you claim something you can choose who can use the supply and trigger upgrade. But you have to refresh your claim every 4H, or other people can “force unclaim” with map poll… And then no troll upgrade…

At least before you had to choose… Start siege or start upgrade… You have to be sure to start T3 or WP because this will use a lot of sups…

But bah… They will not change all those thing… They will not remove all the HoT change, they can’t recognize that they made so much mistake at one time…

Wasn’t looking for auto-upgrades before they added it and was on the side of people deciding which upgrades to trigger, that said the current iteration does work and removes some of exploits of the old system.

You can currently block upgrades by stopping the supply which was the meat of the old system outside of people choosing which ones next. Now does it remove some individual’s sense of ownership, I thought yes at first but realized that the ownership was tied to one person. The new system ties it more to a guild and thereby more people. Would I still like to see ways for individuals to help upgrade structures, yes but you can also do that through your guilds.

It also removed issues with people complaining that the wrong one was done in the wrong order, people spending their own coin just to have no one defend, and moved people to the field to fight. On top of that it, in regards to upgrades, removed a major issue the forum went round and round about which was keep trolls spending all the supply and blocking the upgrades. It also pretty much stopped the map chat back and fourth about taking supply because we need it for the upgrade. Again it removed many issues that could be exploited by people with accounts on opposing servers.

The dolyak system also works because it creates a mobile objective that creates a point of contention to fight over. The point is to have people fighting, not standing in structures doing nothing.

At this point I would call that a win over the old system. Could it using further enhancing, yes but its an improvement.

The difference is that the upgrades on the old system are now included and therefore cost nothing. You are talking about passive and active upgrades via scribing which are completely different and optional. The old ones were not optional if you wanted to get to a WP and cost a person versus a guild paying for it. For scouts and defenders it was a large cost over time. Which often resulted in a lose when an enemy zerg came along and k-trained the map back to paper while people fought in EB.

Except if you want to have balanced match you need to activate those guild upgrade.
Before (at least on my server) the scout where helped by the community… We have a community guild to pay for the upgrade.

They probably should look into the upgrades, weaker(as in walls and gate stats) but faster tier upgrades. Players tend to give a hoot about defending a structure when it’s upgraded, not so much when it’s paper, meh we’ll just re-flip it.

Then again if they upgraded too fast then players will just say f it, no point since it’ll be fully upgraded again soon anyways. Until they attach the more points for upgraded tiers, then you have to break them from being t3.

Keep upgrades use to take about 2-3 hours before the changes, so the current upgrades are close to what they were before. So yeah while we don’t pay for those upgrades anymore, they basically tossed years worth of upgrade cost into the guild hall cost.
