First off, I’m not a commander, so no “elitism” charges please. With the new achievements bl’s, and eb seem to be always queue’d and quite often with the best commanders stuck in that queue, and no tags to rally the eb/bl populations. Allowing commanders to jump to the top of the queue list would be of great benefit to any server, especially now with the influx of so many that are inexperienced and need leadership. When the tags are stuck in queue, it’s just chaos, pure and simple chaos. They paid 100 gold for the tag, so they should be granted the privilege of skipping to the top of the list, right? What do you, the WvW community think about this?

Well if I would actually like www in its overcrowded state ( which I don’t) I would gladly pay that 100g for commander tag just to get into www w/o any queues while having no intention to command at all. So its not a good idea.

Then everyone who wanted to WvW would have to grind 100g first.

Or pay the equivalent in gems (around 25$ US). I could easily afford it and if it meant I could WvW with people who were serious enough about it to shell out the cash, I would.
But many would say it’d be rather unethical.

The idea is ok, but the theory in practise will just be more people buying the commander tag.
If we get to set the servers dedicated commanders somewhere I would agree.

150 is too low. Maybe 300 would work.

Honestly. Everyone would just buy commander tags. What happens when EB is full of commanders, but then another guy with a commander tag tries to join the map. Does it just randomly kick one of the 100 other “commanders”?

i would finlly have a reason to get a commander tag if this happened. And all the pvers with tons of gold and commander dreams would also get tags to get AP. so this solves nothing in the end

Would be a nice gold sink for a short time. WvW would be gated behind 100 gold in last consequence.

There has to be a change in how a commander tag is obtained like a vote from 100+ people to make you a commander or something other wise it would be more like a skip the queue token

While this particular idea is flawed, we do need a way to get the actual leaders in WvW, all the zerglings are useless without some direction. First and foremost we need a queue that actually works properly, what we have right now is a time lottery, nothing more.

If EB is full there is likely several commanders there already. Problem is lots of commanders don’t tag up when no one else is leading. I’ve seen this happen even when there is no queue in EB

As someone from Mag, I agree, worst idea I have ever read on here. We already have our fair share of those we wish would disappear wearing tags. Just because you can buy a tag doesnt mean you deserve to be a WvW commander.

Absolutely not. Most commanders are terrible, secondly, we all paid the same amount to buy this game. Third as others said, everyone would have to buy tags. Terrible idea.

Then everyone would get a commander tag and skip the queue…and crash the servers.

OP’s idea sounds reasonable to me. If someone is willing to spend 100 gold for a commander tag and has the added perk to bypass queues it’s win win for everybody as they are doing their part supporting the game.

Yeah, pretty much what everybody else is saying here; the game has been out for well over a year, there are probably 1/2 a million people who can afford to and would be happy to buy a Commander Icon if it meant a free pass into WvW with no wait. In fact, many of the WvW guilds have stockpiled gold for WvW expenses, so we would probably see tons of whole guilds made up entirely of Commanders…
