Too much too fast. These drastic changes to how WvW works could kill WvW entirely for many players and guilds. With the new WP changes you would be removing waypoints from side keeps, waypoints that provide insurance to players like myself who are on other maps playing while also constantly checking to see if home BL waypoints are contested in order to know if keeps are being attacked. By changing and removing waypoints from the side keeps you are forcing severs to have players to do the boring and tedious thing, sit in the keeps all night in order to know if it is being attacked or not (which provides no loot or anything to that player). If no one is in a side keep, which is common in the lower tiers, having to wait 30seconds for white swords to pop up for someone on the home BL to even see if a keep is being hit, instead of me or someone else who watches map waypoints knowing instantly that its being attacked can and will cost fully upgraded keeps to be lost before you can get a response team to the map/keep.
Now lets swap over to the new dolyak changes where keeps will not need supply anymore to upgrade. Keeps/towers not needing yaks anymore to upgrade is a big change that I believe will negatively affect WvW as well. Roamers play a vital role on most servers going to enemy BL’s and flipping camps/towers and killing yaks. They slow and even stop keeps from upgrading too much to ensure other servers dont get ahead to quickly in the close matches. By removing the need to kill yak’s to prevent/delay upgrades, you are limiting the role that roamers and solo players bring to WvW. Automatic upgrades are also a change that I believe is not needed and is infact just dumbing things down. It is not difficult for a single player to watch que upgrades on a map. If you are making upgrades cost no money, which I believe is the only good WvW change that I have read, then it should be up to a server to make sure that their objectives are being upgraded and if they aren’t then they shouldn’t be rewarded for it.
Another change that I have read about but as far as I know hasn’t been confirmed is capping keeps at 500 supply. This would be a very bad change as having to repair a fortified wall costs around 3-400 supply alone, 2 walls would completely drain the keep of supply making defending objectives to most guilds annoying and tedious, especially if they can’t waypoint supply over from other keeps because you removed side keep waypoints. Guilds who care about PPT/defending as well as fights like mine, would be forced to turtle down in keeps instead of going out to fight because if you wipe outside then there’s a strong chance you are losing your keep because you would have to either waypoint to spawn or garrison and by the time you get back the enemy be at your lord.
I didn’t go over all of them, but most of the WvW changes I have read in recent days would negatively affect most players view on WvW. Personally the only change that I see being a good change is removing the gold cost to upgrade objectives.
