Almost every day
It’s amazing how well Anet actually handle updates (no sarcasm, I mean, the tech they’ve developed to do this stuff is impressive) – they’re quick, the servers are rarely offline for long (compared to SWTOR’s and WoW’s terrible patch days when the servers are down)… it’s just the timings still don’t work.
If you say “within the next hour”, couldn’t you just say “in one hour” and make it an hour?
That’s all. Give us a time and we’d be happy.

The last 4 out of 5 updates the warning has been 45mins-1hour before then again with the same message 5mins or less before booting. It does appear well before the update happens but not always, i think theres some sort of “bug” in how it appears to people/maps/servers so not everyone always sees it. Which is why some people complain about it on our server and then others say well i had the message.
I believe in GW1 the actual downtime of the servers was in total 15 hours over a 8 year life span so far, thats not bad at all.

I have more a problem with them saying “in 1 or 2 hours”… then taking WvW down a fe minutes after that message… but bringing the build only in 1 or 2 hours.
Totally okay if it says “1 or 2 hours” then taking WvW down and the build is coming a few minutes later… but I don’t want to have to wait hours doing nothing(this does not happen that often but sometimes it happens – and I don’t think it is necessary cause they have shown it is possible to take WvW only down a few minutes before… must be some bad communication within their team between the build people and the people taking down WvW).
also WvW lags a lot when they are preparing the new build …. obviously there are some background processes that cause skill lag.
