Almost killed by downed player!?
It was a thief, their downed special ability is to teleport away a bit. They also have some talents or something that stealths them while downed, iirc.
As far as damage, thief has a trait that gives them +50% damage while downed.(not sure if he was using that or not)
Frankly, damage output while downed is way too high. In PvP, this really needs to be adjusted. A downed player should never be able to take a healthy player down like that.
I’m all for, in a close fight, the downed guy still having a shot to win the fight if both were low health or whatever. But, if a player is still at half health+ there really should be no chance of dying to a downed player, it’s a stupid system in need of tuning for PvP.
A simple 50-75% damage nerf while downed would be nice.(Just for PvP, downed is fine in PvE)
thanks for the info. That was my first 1v1 fight with a thief and I was just shocked they downed me when I had nearly full health and the speed in which they did it. That definitely needs to be fixed.
So you’ve had your first encounter with a Thief and are already calling for balance changes?
You’ll fit in nicely here.
I once was attacked while using a catapult by an 80 stealth thief. I was burst down before I could get off the catapult. As a mesmer, I managed to teleport away and down him from full and finish him from the ground to rally.
Yes, downed state is broken in WvW. It and resurrection should be removed from WvW. They cheapen the entire experience and allow large groups, in particular, to play poorly and not suffer for it.

Stealth is also pretty buggy. There are alot of issues with people not appearing properly after stealth fades too, which you can probably find a million posts about in the forums.
I actually like the downed state and ability to res players, I just don’t think downed players should be able to do more damage then when they’re not downed.
As Glektor said, a downed player shouldn’t be able to win if the other person has more than 50% of their health. That seems pretty logical to me.
