“Understanding is a three edged sword: your side, their side, and the truth.”
“The objective is to win. The goal is to have fun.”
After discussing with a friend, he came up with an interesting alternative to the current and last Objective Upgrade system, that I thought might be interesting to get feedback on. This is sort of a mix between the new and the old upgrade system. In short terms:
Idea 1:
Option 1:
Keep votes for a time, so they retain for next vote/upgrade (remove half for next upgrade). Gives some weight to further upgrades, and lets your choices affect wvw over time even if you leave map.
Option 2:
In addition to normal Dolyaks, have a system that gives a slow but constant amount of “Resources” so that upgrading never locks entirely down, but still much slower than we currently got through AutoUpgrade.
Using a simple X/Time and Y/Resource model, the amount of resources and time would have to be tweaked. Some examples visual effects:
PS: Not going to go into the arguments of brining back WP or not, this is completely irrelevant for this idea. So for all practical purposes, even if rolling back to old upgrades system WP would be locked down or replaced with something else. Discuss the WP problem somewhere else please.
This is an alternative mode, changing the idea from local upgrades to a more Global/Map wide system.
This would change the tactical to a more strategical choice, where to upgrade, and the whole map can help with it. Example N and NE dolyaks are still important if you want to upgrade Fire-Bay-West Keep.
Idea 2:
* Note: this uses the current tiered upgrades!
* Keep the gold/supply cost at 0
* Instead of the timer, use X number of Dolyaks received
* Make the Dolyaks a Global/Map wide resource
* You can only work on a single upgrade at a time.
* Vote for which objective to upgrade (map vote)
* If no-votes/tie, upgrade the cheapest option
* Example: Tier1, Tier2, Tier3. And Camps, Tower, Keep etc.
