Always one server out ahead?

Always one server out ahead?

So its only been a week or two since I began to heavily play WvW. So far, I have not seen any grouping of servers where one isn’t dominating. If this is the trend there is something wrong.

It seems like one server will dominate the map and at this point WvW stagnates. That server stays out ahead until regrouping. I have jumped around to several servers and seen this happen every single time.

Characteristics that I see common to all observed server matches:

-1 server holds 90% of all map and eventually accrues 4-5x the points of other two
-dominating server seems to have significant higher number of people in WvW, with up to 60min queue times (!!) experienced by myself to enter WvW.
-being outnumbered, the underdogs typically get slapped fast. Dominating servers typically respond fast enough to attacks/sieges such that there is minimal exchange of territories

As a result of the above, WvW seems to often be a stagnant environment. Sure, the underdogs get frustrated, while the dominating servers get bored; but aside from that, there ultimately lacks the activity that WvW could have if servers were more balanced.

This trend is undermining the value of WvW. I am not convinced that this is due to relative server strength. As rematches pit servers based on a more developed performance history, it will be interesting to see if this trend goes away.

I hope ANet pays attention to this, because this trend needs to be eliminated if they want WvW content to hold a playerbase interested.

Agreed. I’m on Anvil Rock, we’re always dominated. I don’t even bother queuing. No one will be interested in being someones chew toy. It’s very bad.

I didnt know about the server matchmaking system. That sounds like a logical thing to do, but totally useless with all these “free server” transfers going on. Seem they need to turn that off asap and get the server match making going.

Another issue, is that I purposely joined an unpopular server to avoid latency issues. It seems that people as of last night have hit our server hard, I imagine trying to find better queues, and now we’re having bad lag.

A pretty raw deal all in all.

Never argue with an idiot. They’ll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.
