Dont know if it makes a difference but I am on sea of sorrows.
Umm, Sea of Sorrows. But TC is closed, so no transfers to that server. And FA, well, I guess they can transfer there but I haven’t looked in a while.
Those servers are all locked until they shrink to a reasonable size. SoS actually doing quite well. Practice your survival in outnumbered fights.
T2 is the tier for real fights people, not the chest thumpers that retreat to lower tiers when they are outplayed.
Three exits from spawn.
Four different maps.
Don’t get camped.
Chill guys wvw will change. Soon.
T2 is currently in a very imbalanced state because we have 4 T1 sized server and SoS and FA will get matched up to one of them each week.
It is certainly not the most healthy state for the game but don’t get too discouraged. If it is really frustrating, take a break and come back later.
I am also on SoS. I believe we still have plenty that are willing to take the uphill battle and also working on improve the server organization and population. Also feel free to join us on community website sosgw2.com.
Things will change soon as the expansion gets close to release. Try your best to enjoy the game and good luck on the battle field.
it looks like the old t3 when nsp was there with 10-15 max peek? fighting fa or sos when they were full staked ?
Same goes on T4, hord of denravi blobs at minor swords, about ET they seem to same numbers as NSP but with diferent time zone.

this weekend was bad due to the beta crab
fairly new to all this wvw stuff but gotta ask why every day when we cap stuff about 10 times our numbers of the other team run over the top of us , take the whole map and then just hang around exits from our spawn point killing anyone that leaves that area.
I see in chat alot of ppl are transferring servers to go to the servers with more ppl making it worse. Is there no balance to the numbers that can be on each team. I am sure the tsunami of opposition really enjoys absolutely no challenge but I aint !
Dont know if it makes a difference but I am on sea of sorrows. This is not a whinge , I really like wvw and expect to get killed but a fair fight would be nice.
Hi
I’m on SOS too and actually sitting on transfer gems, but to be honest, there really is no other place to go to in this game anymore so I feel very stuck.
Although the situation on SOS is vastly improving last few weeks since the GVG guilds left it is steadily getting much better bit by bit it is becoming a better server, albeit at a slow pace. The server is still having server wide issues.
There is a lack of coordination between guilds, especially when fighting map blobs the inability of guilds to get together and coordinate becomes very plain and apparent. We have on average far superior fighters in all aspects but get taken out because of this.
Also, there is 1 commander left that is a decent driver, but still can’t fully adapt to the changing meta and due to his personality keeps driving people and recruits literally away from the server and WvW instead of into it. The guy is simply bad for the server. On top of the outnumbered issues I have personally almost stopped running EB at NA prime cause of him and severely cut down my overall WvW time, and I am not the only one, there are quite a few of us doing so including some entire smaller guilds further contributing to the negative experience you are having.
As bad as it is, I would just stay put for now simply because there are no better places to go, if you go into tier 3, you will run into the issues that GVG guilds were causing when they were in T2, to my understanding they got much better and considerate and are not as bad as they were in T2, but it remains to be seen if it stays that way or they revert.
If you go to T4 or lower, you simply will not be able to get the full WvW experience due to limited sizes of server populations and extreme overall off-hours coverage differences which will only get much worse when the new map hits with HoT as it is larger and thus harder to cover with less people.
So I recommend to stay where you are for now, as bad as it is, the other places either already are, or have the immediate potential to quickly become much worse.
Sorry to hear about that.
The realm I’m on is plagued with bagfarming, wintrading, spying, double (or triple!) agent commanders and so on.
Virtually nothing is a real, accidental, natural encounter.
Not sure which is worse, TBH…?
Uneven match-ups, where some realms never win, or very obvious back and forth set-ups all the time.
One thing I am sure about, though, is that Anet should do something about both situations.
Because both ruin what could be a good, enjoyable, part of the game.

Compared to a month ago, SoS is in a way better position. Im trying hard to make SoS the best server it can be. But we are moving at a slow pace because it is hard to find guilds to join our server who want to fight against the T1 servers.
Our lack of co ordination simply comes from the fact that we lack guilds to work with. On reset yes we have 2 or 3 guilds running around at once. But after reset there is mostly only 1 guild per timezone that is ever tagged up alone in thier various timezones.
If you are talking about who i think you are talking about, he is not bad for the server. He has a certain way of playing and commanding that will benifit his guild and lets face it survival of guilds is everything at this point. If you disagree with the way he plays i would recommend taking things into you own hands, in the sense of create a new guild and or command yourself, playing the way you want to play. If not i suppose wait around until a couple of our old school guilds come back in a month. We also picked up a few more commanders who will be running around shortly, so theres that to look for.
Btw if your on SoS. The best way to get intouch with its WvW community is through joining sosgw2.com

Because anet doesn’t care about server balance.
Numbers and timezone coverage are everything to score. Server culture, skill, etc mean almost nothing. But for 3 years anet has done almost nothing to balance numbers and coverage. They could have, for example:
- made it free to transfer to low-population servers and MUCH more expensive to transfer to high-population servers to encourage even distribution of players
- added points per kill to reward zerg-busting skills
- weighted PPT so that objectives are worth more during NA hours and less during off-hours
These are just a few ideas off the top of my head. There are many more i’m sure.
But instead we have a situation where giant servers are paired with tiny servers on the same tier for months at a time, eventually killing the smaller server. That is what SoS and FA are presently facing in tier 2, and both servers are now struggling to stay alive and avoid complete implosion, hoping that the expansion will change things. It sucks.
FA
ANET not fixing the numbers issue has caused a lot of WvW people to stop doing WvW or leave the game completely. Sorry about your luck, but unfortunately a good portion of the servers in a lot of the tiers face this. Hence, the dramatic decline of the WvW player base in the past year and a half.
The bad thing is there really hasn’t been anything great to go play in that time, just rehash of the same old crap developers have gotten wrong the past several years. Cheer up, other more promising games are right around the corner and we can then kick this one to the curb.
We eagerly await your fresh bags in the bronze league. Join the dark side!
Much appreciated for all the replies.
I am unfamiliar with the tier 1,2 etc. I wouldnt have had a clue i was even in one. I am not going to transfer servers , I am not interested in being on the other end of the proverbial stick so to speak but it is good to read some reasons why we get mobbed by a rabid swarm most of the time.
All i would like to see is fairness in the numbers , I have no problem losing just not like this. Any commander lately sees the other team and we run the other way …not fun but what choice do they have.
I’ll carry on till heart of thorns , i pre paid for it. But if it just the same as this in the new maps or whatever is in store i am sure it will get old pretty quick. Not a threat of quitting , just saying if it is mostly a bad time then why bother haha
thanks again for replies , helped make sense of it all
Sea of Sorrows and Fergusons Crossing are dead for the moment , you have two options , to wait for people to join in , or to transfer to a better place

There was a balance in tier 2 (FA/SoS/YB) until a bunch of tier 1 guilds decided to transfer over in order to create a 4th tier 1 server. As a result, many fight guilds left these servers but YB wasn’t really affected due to their massive influx of players.
I’m on TC and there has been considerable discussion on our server forum discussing that one should not be a jerk to the other 2 servers but this is counterbalanced by the need for us to maintain our glicko rating so that we don’t remain here, since it is not much fun for us.
This imbalance was due to the NA player base congregating in the top 3 tier 1 servers which lead to stale matchups. (EU servers don’t seem to have the same problems as they are more spread out) Hence some players took it upon themselves to orchestrate this fiasco. As a result of this unprecedented player migration, Anet closed entry to the top 4 NA servers.
I blame the guilds that transferred over to YB and their megalomaniacal leaders who did not care about the affect on tier2. Anet also seems partly responsible, though I am not sure what they could have done to avoid this.

Please explain to me how SoS is dead. If we were we would be in a relative tier. But instead we are gaining glicko.
its easy to tier up a server …just place 2 hardcore guilds in two different servers in the same matchup and pick on the 3 server ….easy 2v1……transfer the troling guild to the next matchup the week after and soforth ….
saw a beautiful exsample of that today. Two opponants side bye side hand in hand …beating the kitten out of us….
The other day, I noticed that on Jade Sea borderland there was a que… upon getting on the border, we were outnumbered, so I assumed some people must’ve left allowing me to get on the borderland… but then I went to our home borderland and noticed that as I left, there was a que again for JS borderland, and when I got back on borderland we were outnumbered… I tried this a couple of times and got someone else to check too…
We had a que for a borderland where we were outnumbered.

My guild calls those “fake queues.” It usually happen when there is a legitimate queue on a map, and then a blob of friendly players from that map suddenly leaves to go blob a different map (often following a float tag). For a short while it will appear as though there is a still a queue on the map, but there isn’t, players can enter instantly and even be outnumbered.

NA servers are home to players from across the world, whereas EU servers don’t nearly have as much of a problem. AU/NZ, South East Asian and East Asian players largely congregate on the higher tier NA servers for WvW to have more fights. This creates the imbalance. Not NA players (who have largely spread themselves out over 9 servers).
This could be avoided if ANet were to create servers based in Singapore or Australia and invest in advertising in our regions in order to populate a decent amount of servers, but alas, we’re stuck with what we have.
