I’ve been reading alot of threads in both communities, and this is just an idea that came out from reading both sides perspective on each other. Some players like myself who rarely doesn’t do sPvP see it as something pointless, it doesn’t really benefit the server your in, and it has no application to your character in PvE or WvWvW. Unless of course you want to master the arts of close combat between small groups, but WvWvW isn’t really about the small groups, it’s rare and far in between.
sPvP seems to be more about “Me”, the ranking system, the rewards, the gear. Only team aspect of it is your trying to find a solid 8 players to fight along side with that work well with you.
In WvWvW, the server as a whole benefits greatly from bonuses the server recieves for doing well in WvWvW. In sPvP, again it has no application. So the theory is, and I’m sorry if this might have been mentioned in previous threads, but why not impliment the ranking system into WvWvW, treat it as xp, so that when ever it levels, we still gain our skill point. As far as I see every borderland has NPC factions, and we have supply camps.
As it stands, all these places can be taking by one or two players, easy. We can end this, by making all these NPC area’s instanced. Let’s say that each faction/supply camp can have a max of 24 players, 8v8v8. Any 24 players can walk in and once that happens, the battle starts.
Example 1. Supply camps.
As we know when the match resets, supply camps are neutral npc’s, so will the instance as it starts. for a group to control the supply camp, servers would send in up to 8 players into that area, and fight for control of those area’s, now, we have people thinking well what if people spawn camp you outside waiting for you to come out, that case can be prevented with those leaving the instance appearing at their primary waypoint. So what if your spawn camped inside the instance, just like the arena scenerio’s as is, the spawn area for all 3 servers will be high up in a safe area for them to move forward from. Now keep in mind spawn camping will be tough inside the instance, because it is 8v8v8, that means you’ll have to have 4 for each spawn area to cover. Now to safely keep the supply camp, forces will want to leave players in there to guard. When the supply camp is taken/flipped, the lord of that area will still remain to have their buff, and players can continue to upgrade it as is, and the dolyak will continue to appear outside the portal and move on to supply the tower and keeps. But now this gives small guilds and teams to actually fight and control something where outside zerg interference won’t happen, think of this as a SpvpVSpvpVSpvp.
Example 2.
Faction/NPC.
We know that we can take an npc and gain favor, and they will help us by joining our side. We can do the same 8v8v8, and when ever the faction is available we can send in our 8 guys in there to take it, same battle happens, small groups battle it out for control of the npc’s, the winner flips control as the rest will have to waypoint out. Now the two others servers can still send 8 again to try and take the control away, let’s say another faction wins, just as it is now, the faction is now switched, but is cleared, which now we all wait for it to go neutral again for us to retake. Same thing would apply. As soon as another server wins reseting the faction, all players that were involved in the battle will be sent back to their respective waypoints.
Example 3.
Center Island, Weather control.
Now here is where it’s fun, right now it’s really easy, but what if, the only way to get inside this instance was to have complete control of all 3 water nodes, first off. Once inside this instance that group of 8 would fight a boss, sorta like a dungeon boss. The server who controls the center island will have it for a while, then it resets automatically, just like it does now. Meaning the server has to go back and defeat the boss again, or the other servers have to own the 3 water nodes surrounding it as well. Keep in mind that no server can enter that center for complete weather control unless they own the 3 first. This will force a huge battle for the lake, alot more than it is now.
I only mention this because, even as we speak, EB jumping puzzle is in a different zone, but yet it’s WvWvW, why couldn’t we do something along the same lines for our supply camps and factions. I can waypoint out of the eb jumping puzzle straight into a waypoint in any of the WvWvW maps, why couldn’t we implement something like this. You could get rid of the Spvp gear, saving you some time there, you already have gear set in for pve and pvp in WvWvW, the Spvp community will then feel that they are helping their servers by helping with the bonuses to the pve community. As they will also be accomplishing things by actually leveling their characters as they do what they love to do, and that’s Spvp.
