These are going to cause material prices to massively drop on the market. Take advantage of them while you can… be surprised if they are still there next month… although considering how long it takes them to do anything wvw related… it might be next year… but they are the least of the problems

I think camp ones could be weaker, but really, even if you were gathering there constantly, you would obtain a lot more stuff outside of wvw.

It is better then launch night when they were spawning every minute or less. Id get to the end and start over. I imagine when enough of the wvw crowd has purchased the unlimited harvest tools, they will be changed.

Synthesizers inside towers/camps just make people farm materials in objectives instead of doing something meaningful like defending or following commander w/o constant waiting for people to finish harvesting/mining/logging.

In WvW resource nodes belong outside objectives and give roamers another reason to go out there.

Remove synthesizers and bring old resource nodes back as soon as possible. Thank you.

They are awsome, they even respawn faster then every 20 min. Last night i spent over an hour to farm them and i never ever got so much chili, seaweed, lemongrass, ancient wood and what in such short time.
WvW is dying with the new maps so gathering trains might be the new kitten.

When HoT was released and my guild went exploring the new map on Friday, we noticed the lack of resource nodes. Looks like they were added later. NODE almost needed to lodge a formal complaint.

Give it some time to judge whether or not this is good/bad.
I’m currently not so sure what I want to do in wvw, so I mostly run around like a headless chicken anyway.
But I got my first chili yesterday woohoo – takes me ages to get one in pve, so I kind of think wvw players deserved these nodes – thanks from me.

They were coming back every 20 seconds, so I think the 20 min is intended because they removed them for a short time to ‘fix’ them. I think it might even be every tick they reset, kinda cool concept for giving scouts/defenders rewards for holding an objective for a tick.

i LOVE the new nodes. having them in objectives and giving random mats is a HUGE improvement over the way they were in the alpine maps.

Moving resources inside camps/towers/keeps was another move towards PvE world where u have much smaller change to actually get (for example) ganked while collecting those precious goods. I thought that WvW was more about getting fights and killing enemy players than playing farmville inside a tower?

If anet really wants to reward ppl for scouting/defending towers – they surely can come up with better ideas than this? Or was this really all they came up with?

…but then again entire WvW is going towards PvE so fast that I’m probably going to miss the train somewhere in near future.

I can’t even muster the effort to log in an alt a/c to sit on nodes all day- when I can gather just as much running around in pve anyway.

20 minutes respawn is just fine, if people want to just camp them imagine the fun when your map is q’d because 40 farmers are sitting on it- Anet’s metrics will tell them the BL are a great success!

I think your PvEphobia might be narrowing your perspective.

If people wanted to do farmville, there’s many, many places in the open world where they could get far more things. Hell, you could park all your alts next to a rich node and waste less time and have zero risk. At least in WvW, if you’re not attentive enough, maybe 50 people will bust down the door and kill you, and then take the nodes for themselves, gathering over your dead body. That’s not something you can experience anywhere else in this game.

Second, some people like scouting and defending towers; not getting fights. Scouting, defending, and getting ganked while having 0 in-game reward and potentially having to pay out of your pocket for siege is not a way to live. I can’t handle that crap for more than 15 minutes. Sure, farmville isn’t the best solution, but it’s something. I know people in wvw who have less than 20 gold on them, and need help with donations, because the game basically forgot they existed. There was a while where we had to do gold raising activities so that scouts could afford tags.

Finally, WvW could use more people. Judging by the top threads, there are people complaining WvW is dying or lacking numbers. If people are shunning pvers who might potentially join in some day, then they only have themselves to blame.

You really need some kind of hook. That’s why Guild Missions have now WvW versions; it’s another attempt to get more people into wvw for even a brief amount of time in the hopes that people will get interested.

You get more ore/lumber/other stuff when u waypoint directly between the keeps and run to nearest towers. If u are really lazy u just farm the ones with waypoint on them.

You get more ore/lumber/other stuff when u waypoint directly between the keeps and run to nearest towers. If u are really lazy u just farm the ones with waypoint on them.

Most of my gold comes from node farming, so I do it a lot – but didn’t do it in wvw so much (except NC and WC on BL) as the nodes weren’t worth it. So chances that someone hit me while I was farming a node was really slim anyway.

I appreciate that anet tried to reward us with these, giving us the possibility to get materials we weren’t able to get in wvw before but I still prefer the old nodes, because it gave you something to do while you ran around the map. The new maps just seem lifeless – no players, no trees, no ore, no plants that can be harvested.

It also rewards the players on dominating servers more, as they have access to more nodes and it might promote karmatraining.

I think that is the point of WvW as a whole, come together as a server to dominate others. Currently there is limited reward for actually ‘winning’ in WvW. That said it would be nice if the servers were ‘even’ in population and coverage so that true skill was what came out on top rather than just coverage.

You can harvest from those Nodes anywhere even if you don’t own the objective. My guess is they are making it so you can farm the nodes in towers and things cause they are trying to break the current “old” wvw meta of going from objective to objective and not defending and sitting in towers for long periods of time.

God forbid WvW players become a bigger part of the economy. And it’s not like we’re pumping liquid gold into the economy so I hardly see an issue.

Anyhow, this fearmongering seems kind of silly, as any good and sensible PvE’r would know that you could just go to SW and get more of everything in an hour or so. Also, like I care about how TP tycoons are losing their wealth.

Mat prices are already dropping thanks to Anet’s other “tweaks” to the economy.

I do think a lot of you are too black and white on this issue. These nodes are brilliant and a great solution to multiple problems in WvW.

The biggest: it evens out the node distribution that was horrible on the old maps. For example, they had copper ores near your home BL spawn and they would progressively get better the farther south your go. However, the enemy received worse rewards the farther north they wen’t. What’s worse is that EB had the best nodes, lowering the value of playing on the BLs. This is a bad system, especially if any of your maps are full. Having all nodes be random is a brilliant solution. Anet deservers kudos for this.

Whether they should be inside or outside structures? Not sure on this one. This is where there’s some grey area. One one hand, as a commander, I hate them inside. Once we cap something, everyone has to take 2 minutes to mine. This is a collosal waste of time. However, I don’t have people squirreling after nodes when running from point A to B. One the other hand, if I just don’t care, this is awesome and gives me lots of mats. If I’m not commanding and mine, I’m kittening off the commander, and the team. It’s a good way to reward scouting.

One big issue, is when commanding, there are some players that are so OCD about this, that they go for the nodes asap, ignoring the enemy. These are seasoned WvWers too, but they are obsessed with the free loot.

I think a good solution would be a few things as far as inside/outside goes. Leave them inside keeps, but don’t put them all in one spot. Spread them around the keep. Keeps are what we really need scouts for, and the reward should still be there. But spreading them out will decrease the chances of people making a bee line for them rather than capping, defending, or assaulting the keep.

Take them out of towers and camps. Camps definitely don’t need scouts, and we don’t need the nodes slowing us down. scouts are useful in towers, but not that necessary, especially with sentries, and especially being close to a waypoint. Having them in towers again, slows us down. Instead, scatter them around the world.

One thing that does need to change, they shouldn’t be able to be mined twice. Regular nodes can only be mined once, unless you crit. This just seems like way too much of a reward, and is one of the big reasons why even seasoned WvWers find them so distracting. Maybe keep the keep nodes as double mined sources, but all others need to be changed to single.
