Look at how effective someone is in a full Dire set.
Nice balance.
…that exploit this supercharged bug… seriously this is getting out of hand.
How was this even not fixed yet!?!?
No … no they shouldn’t.
This is 100% Anet’s fault, you can’t punish people for their stupidity. As I said in another thread, until Anet confirms that this is a bug, consider it part of the event.
They have had NUMEROUS reports about what is happening, it’s been plastered all over the forums from day 1 of the event, and yet, they have made no comment or effort to stop it. One can only assume that it is part of the event due to the lack of actions taken to prevent it from continuing.
Are you serious!?
people knowingly and willingly are abusing this bug. There is no excuse for those people.
Is it a bug ?
We have not been informed it’s a bug, as far as we know it’s part of the event to bring those that can’t afford Golems on par with those that can afford them.
Show me where Anet has stated that this is a bug.

Just because the banker accidentally forgot to close the vault doesn’t mean you should be allowed to steal the money.
However, I understand where you’re coming from. This problem is on both the devs and the players that took advantage of this exploit.

Then why doesn’t everyone just start with the stupid buff in the first place???

Not even remotely close to the same thing.
If Anet truly felt it was a bug that people shouldn’t be using all they had to do was post something about it at any point within the last 5 days. Or hey here’s an idea, do a quick fix patch.
Seeing as how they have done neither I think it’s safe to say they don’t feel it’s a bug. How is one to honestly know how Anet feels about this and whether or not it is intended ? I could make arguments all day, whether you agree with them or not is irrelevant until it is confirmed that it’s a bug and they are just to lazy or ashamed to acknowledge/fix it.
Im not saying Anet is not at fault here, it has been already 2 full workdays they could have brought a fix to this…
But people who are knowingly getting this supercharged buff without being in a golem and then run about EB 2-shotting everyone deserve a punishment.

Why does Anet have a system in place that is more about round the clock coverage than it is about NA time zones ? and scores are determined by the round the clock coverage on NA server’s. That really doesn’t make a whole lot of sense either, and yet here we are !
Trying to figure out why Anet would do something (or not do something) is about as productive as playing in traffic.
Totally agree! They should also retroactively ban people who used: mesmer golem clone exploit, necro signet on gates exploit, mesmer fall trait exploit, recent guardian and engineer exploits, immobilization using AC’s with warrior’s trait exploit, mesmer recursive stun interrupt/damage exploit, going through tower gates exploit, pve items that stun, knockdown, and other random stuff exploit, double proc sigil exploit, tonic sigil exploit, tonic rune exploit. Sigil stacks kept while weapon swapped out exploit. Perma 50% damage reduction using flame ram buff exploit.
I’m sure I missed a few.

I was making an example… and you missed my point entirely. Just because there is an opportunity to take advantage of something, doesn’t mean it is the right thing to do. Sure, ANet dropped the ball here, but players are also accountable for their own actions. It is 50/50.
If you want the unfortunate lack of communication to be the reason why you feel it is justifiable for you to exploit this bug, then fine. Whatever helps you sleep at night.
Have fun ganking people! \(^o^)/
I saw 4 different guilds exploiting this bug today in eotm
They are accountable IF their actions are breaking the rules. Presently they are not breaking any known rules.
You seem to be the one missing the point here.
By not fixing it, Anet is allowing it to continue, by not making any statements Anet is allowing it to continue. Do I need to link the definition of Allow ? Players currently are not in the wrong, because currently they are breaking no known rules. This is a moral issue more than anything.
But if you want to get down to the nitty gritty of it, stop demanding for player’s to be banned and start demanding that Anet does their kitten job and fix it. Hows that for common sense, hopefully that can sink in.
The logic some people have here….
It is a bug and it is being abused. Anet does not have to respond in any way in order to make that clear. I belive it is in their code of conduct somewhere but i am far too lazy to look up the actual qoute. I’m not saying it’s not Anets fault, but arguing you can abuse it by stating a) players aren’t in the wrong cause Anet isn’t doing anything about it or b) stating you’re not aware that it is a bug, is just plain stupid.
Don’t lie to yourself, you guys are fully aware Anet didn’t intend this. On top of that normally Anet is slow as kitten when it comes to these kind of topics and probably doesn’t care much about WvW anyways.
Anyhow, there is a qoute in the code of conduct that explains that abusing this bug could possibly lead to a ban, this is not the first time this sort of thing happened. I will try and look it up.
Real talk.
You have a these classes of people in WvW:
1. Your person who logs into it only to do their daily achievements and could care less about WvW.
2. People whom want to ktrain all day for bags (don’t know why you wouldn’t just go to Silverwaste?) or level a char quickly without using tomes. outside of that they rarely play WvW.
3. Your dedicated PPT guilds whom stock piled golems for this week just so they could blob down every structure to push their server higher whom are on fairly regularly (especially on reset).
4. Your dedicated raiding/fight guilds and solo roamers who have been playing dedicated just about every day because they enjoy WvW for fights.
Judging by the posts to be honest compared to other areas of the game your idea of “ban them” or “end the event” are spread very thin all over the boards with little follow up past 20-30 posts (if it even gets that far) so the likelihood of either happening is very slim especially when the bug could have been patched already/the event could have been halted. I’m also willing to bank that since there isn’t an organized effort you fall into the first two categories of players (the minority) who honestly really could care less about WvW in general nor do you really put the time in compared to the latter two groups because you are more concerned about the personal gain on your account.
The latter two groups are either blobbing down structures with golems for PPT where some guild groups even with the buff bug have trouble breaking them apart or the organized guild groups/roamers that decided since people are going to golem all over their fights they are just going to run the bug and bust as much of it up as they can to get their fights/fun. You won’t be hearing much from them because they are getting their jollies out of the event one way or another (even if the event does suck).
My advice:
1. Turn off the game this week and go outside to enjoy the sunshine till the event is over. It is one week and I’m pretty sure you can survive without it. If you can’t that should seem a little red flaggish as far as your life priorities are concerned.
2. Assimilate with the PPT groups, guild groups, and roamers for the week and make what you can of the event.
I can tell you right now the people over at gw2wvw unofficial site/forums, while toxic as they can be at times, are only popping popcorn having a laugh right now over these threads (because it honestly is just silly like this entire event). I’m slightly inclined to agree with it because the minority that exists here doesn’t really even play WvW for what it is (answer: minor competitive PPT/fights).
TL;DR You want solid personal reward farm PvE or PvP. You want fights/PPT for fun play WvW, and if you can’t handle the heat log-off/find a more productive use of your time for this week.

I’ll make it easy.
The point is, point the finger at the right person/people. It could be easily prevented, this is what is know as neglect and these are some of the repercussions of neglect.
Found it;
You will not exploit any bug in Guild Wars 2 and you will not communicate the existence of any such exploitable bug (bugs that grant the user unnatural or unintended benefits) either directly or through public posting, to any other user of Guild Wars 2.
To me it is quite obvious this wasn’t intended. How some people deny that this is a bug is beyond me. For you to get it you have to spam enter a golem and then maybe you get it, how do people think that is natural or intended?

Oohhh, pardon me. I finally see what you’re getting at! Since this is 100% ANet’s fault, I should totally take advantage of this unfair advantage and go do some roaming! I should not be held accountable for ruining the game for other players, and it is my right to get away scot-free with no repercussions. Sure, I have the choice to not be a cheater, but I’m going to be a kittening kitten and do it anyways!
Thank you so much for clarifying that.

Can we please stop it with the BS logic? It might be ANET’s fault if the bug exist but you have power over whether or not you choose to use it, therefore you share responsibility for the current state of the game. I myself tried it for like 5 minutes so I’m guilty myself btw (kitten my curiosity). It may not be your fault that there is that bug, but it sure is your responsibility to not abuse it.

They could be, yes :-p. I’m saying people that are exploiting could be banned, not that they should be. I think Anet wants people to mail them bugs and stuff anyways exactly for that reason, that they don’t want more people become aware of it.
But yeah, I was merely trying to talk some sense into people arguing that this isn’t an exploit, which it clearly is. It could get you banned, Whether or not you will be depends on Anet.

This clearly is exploit, end of story. If you use logic “it is in the game, so it is ANet’s fault and I can use it” then nothing is exploit.
Whether or not you will be depends on Anet.
I hope that they will ban those using exploit and inform us about it. If they don’t it is clear message to community that using any exploit is ok in their game.
No … no they shouldn’t.
This is 100% Anet’s fault, you can’t punish people for their stupidity. As I said in another thread, until Anet confirms that this is a bug, consider it part of the event.
So you can exploit everything in the game since it’s A.Net’s fault?
Random if you want to use the exploit it’s your problem.
However you can’t pretend it’s not what it is: an exploit : )
If I look at this bug/exploit with a sober view, it’s spreading around. So there is obviously no unfair advantage for yourself anymore, when you use this. But I don’t say that is a good thing at all, I still play fair. On the other side, this event will end in 3 days, it has tumble everything from normal known gameplay. After the end of the event, this problem will be solved.

Think about what you’re saying for a second, and see if it actually makes sense. Unless you’re abusing the exploit and are trying to defend yourself, in that case that’s pretty sad.
The ignorance of ‘Random’ is purely mind boggling. I’m assuming he’s abusing this clearly defined bug that is meant to be for Golems only.
I’m going to have to agree with random. If this is a bug then anet needs to come here and make an announcement.
You can’t argue that it’s common sense that people should know it’s a bug because look at the absolute stupidity of this event. Common sense tells me giving golems the super charge buff and making them cost zero supply is moronic. If they are going to let that happen in WvW this week then who can say what is a bug and what’s not?

Lol?
How do you get the bug again? That very action indicates it is a bug, that is common sense. Common sense has nothing to do with the event as a whole.
i think anet should thank and reward the people testing this bug for them and bringing it to the attention of the community. it’s obviously a very complicated thing that’s requiring 100% of developer attention which would be the only explanation as to the radio silence.
so u wanna ban half of the wvw population then? or even more. why u take this week even serious. its like the time when chaosstorm on falling was bugged and insta wiped entire zergs. it was raining mesmers everywhere. and of course everyone wants to try it out. screaming for bans is way over the top. get over it. im not even playing this week as i hate golems. i checked the event, hated it and now i wait till its over. who cares if people abuse it? do the same thing and join the fun or idk go spvp maybe or level a new character or idk read something till its over. just dont take it so serious. the whole event is absolute kitten anyways!

I just want to point this out in here also:
I think that primarily this issue highlights ANet’s QA/GM politics:
1. Golems were bugged even before the event (atleast dupe (but they “fixed” it), dont know about environmental weapons)
2. Non developer scripts this event and known previous bugs are not checked with altered mechanics
3. This results three game breaking bugs, no word, about fixing them nor bans to users (as far as we know)Josh said that this didn’t take resources from HoT development as he did this by himself. Does this mean that single non developer is allowed to push events of this scale to live client without QA? Or was QA involved and three exploits got trough?
Is it a bug ?
We have not been informed it’s a bug, as far as we know it’s part of the event to bring those that can’t afford Golems on par with those that can afford them.
Show me where Anet has stated that this is a bug.
This is the stupid logic of people who abuse the system.
Question for you. Where does it say anet has to respond to is on anything at any time?
People just don’t get it.
If instead of a buff this was say a gem store bug that gave players an extra 10,000 gems every time they purchased gems, the game would be brought down and it would be fixed immediately, so why is this, which by your own admission is game breaking being not being fixed ?
The questions you should be asking is why has Anet not fixed it, why are you not holding them responsible. These post about the Golem buff being “abused” should and need to be directed at Anet, stop directing it at the players. Whether or not the player should be using the buff in this manner is irrelevant. Whether or not you agree with the buff is irrelevant. Why Anet is condoning these players actions by allowing it to continue …. now that is relevant.
The White Knight syndrome needs to stop, open your eyes for once, your precious Anet is at the head of this bus and driving it off a cliff with this Golem Buff bug.
Even if this was a bannable offense, do you seriously think Anet will ban players just before an “expansion” release?
This has happened so many times before. Someone finds an exploit in WvW, they post on the forums hoping the devs will fix it, instead more players find out about it and use the exploit; and the devs continue to neglect WvW by not doing a thing!
Sorry but the devs are to blame for allowing the exploit to continue rather than fix it asap like they do for PvE.
We get it and actually understand it.
The players who abuse it have deliberately made the choice to ruin the enjoyment of the game for other people. It is the same childish act a spoiled child does.
Each person has a limited amount of time to play the game doing what they find most enjoyable. The moment some idiot takes that away for some childish amusement that idiot should be banned. If not, then anet, via silence, says it is ok for people to be kittens.

Your almost there.
You realize Anet has deliberately made the choice to ruin the enjoyment of the game for many players just by making this event active.
Before you start calling the other players childish you need to realize some of them are not abusing this, some of them are receiving the buff unintentionally. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of those players don’t read the forums and have no idea why they are 1 shotting people.
…that exploit this supercharged bug… seriously this is getting out of hand.
How was this even not fixed yet!?!?
Considering you can get the buff from…
1. Getting in and out of a golem
2. Killing a golem
3. Dying in a golem
Players may be getting it by accident, you can’t ban people for that.
The event is only for a few more days. Take a break.
Ban all these people.. I’ve never heard anything so stupid… Ban hundreds of people, ban guilds. It doesn’t matter what their intents are/were, it is Anet’s fault 100% that this problem hasn’t been fixed, and that it came into place.
Aside from hundreds of people, many of which that have put countless hours into the game, do you know how bad this would look? I’d imagine the banned people would start raging about the game sending a bad impression on the game unto other people because they’ll be all kitten.
They could have done a couple of things.
A. They could have banned the very first people to exploit, as an example and a warning so people would feel discouraged to exploit this.
B. They could have just fixed the problem. They sure did know that the problem existed. They can’t ignore this much justified rage.
C. Before the problem became as big as it is now, they could have said on forums that everyone who tries to exploit will be banned, even if it was an empty promise, it would discourage many of the current exploiters.
Now there is only one sensible/possible solution; fix the kitten bug. Or just take golems out of the game like they did with the engineer trait(this might not sound as easy as it is however)
Real talk.

Most Adorable Necro NA,
Schnigle <3P.S. Yes we know this event sucks. :/
If you are referring to me then you are wrong. I actually am in a guild that does raid quite often. Also at the time I made this post I was roaming in EBG with some friends and we kept getting repeatedly killed by other roamers who had this supercharged buff..
Also, I am not going to say that I did not take any advantage of this ktrain, I got 2 of my alts to lvl 80. And I know that if I want to farm champ bags or gold in general, I go to SW.

I am not asking to ban every person who ever got this buff, or even people who got it like 3 or 4 times during this event by accident, Im talking about people who repeatedly keep getting this buff and then running around and other killing people.
And yes, I barely went into wvw this week anyway. At this point I go only only to eotm to lvl alts. I made an exception last night and went to roam EBG a bit and regretted it. Ill just keep farming SW until this event is over :/
How exactly do you plan to distinguish between the two groups of people ? We’ve established that it’s very easy to unintentionally get the buff. Should people be expected to log out/switch maps and have to wait in Queue again every 5 min in order to avoid being lumped in with the ones you want banned ?

Since the event started I’ve gotten the bug by accident one time. Once. As soon as I saw it on my buff bar I logged out of WvW and back in (no queue at that time). I guess I’ve got more honor and integrity than those players who choose to just go with it.

I answered you on other topic and just noticed this. I suppose this is why you made the other topic. Anyway:
You DO realise that if anet bans everyone who has exploited the supercharge golem bug,a massive chunk of people will be gone.
Banning != Permanently Banning
Severity of the punishment != Effect of punishment
IMO messaging players that using exploits is not ok would reduce using exploits in future. There is research about this in legislative use, but also in games. Some material about this from GDC 2015:
Slides: http://www.gdcvault.com/play/1021800/Anti-Social-Behavior-in-Games
Video: http://www.gdcvault.com/play/1021799/Anti-Social-Behavior-in-Games (~14:30 )BTW: ANet should be aware of this since they were talking about their AI in that conference and most of the materials are free to watch later.
Banning would be sensible option to avoid that this kind of exploits won’t spread again. Banning doesn’t mean permanent bans but 1 day bans to minor offenders to send clear message that using this kind of bugs is not ok.
ANet is still responsible for this mess as I tried to say in my QA message earlier.
Josh said that this didn’t take resources from HoT development as he did this by himself. Does this mean that single non developer is allowed to push events of this scale to live client without QA? Or was QA involved and three exploits got trough?
And they should fix these bugs ASAP.
I’ve barely played WvW this week because of how boring and broken it is atm. So I haven’t accidentally gotten the bug like other people have, if I did get it I wouldn’t go out of my way to remove it. It’s not exactly an unfair advantage when people are running around in omegas 2 shotting players.
During the 30 min I hopped on for last I saw groups of omegas stealth bombing up levels. Any time I killed a golem the player would pop out at full health and build another while in stealth.
The double damage boost for players is the least broken thing about this stupid ”event”

That’s easy for you to say, there are others out there that have gotten it multiple times. Some servers have Queue’s depending on which map your guild/friends are on. Let’s not forget those people that are actually oblivious to the bug. Let’s face it, pug zergs have people that get one pushed/insta killed all the time, it’s completely possible that there are some people running around in large groups/zergs that have not noticed they have the buff. It’s not as black and white as you guys are making it out to be.
Once again, if they would fix it, it wouldn’t be a problem. They would go out of their way to fix a bug that affected their gem store, all game breaking bugs should be treated in this manner.
They could use 3 days ban and 2 weeks of shame condition so others can decide how much they chose to trust them or not.
Or they could fix it.
I know …. it’s a mind blowing concept.

I know …. it’s a mind blowing concept.
And they could fix it
