Any underwater combat areas left?
If you made an underwater legendary in the first place, that’s your mistake. As for the lake, it’s still there there are just 5 new surrounding objectives next to it.
It is not what you do, but how and why you do it that counts.
I personally adore underwater combat, it’s where I get most of my kills.

Is the lake still there or are those just moats surrounding the new objectives? I surely hope that the lake is still there under these objectives, but everything I have seen seems to indicate that it has been removed.
And it’s not my mistake for making a legendary weapon that I chose. I know underwater legendaries are not popular and I know the reasoning, but a decision to remove an entire aspect of the game from WvW does not consitute my mistake.
In the livestream the lake was still on the map. the outer portion of it changed because of the new objectives, but it looked like the lake was still there,

With the upcoming changes to the lake areas of the borderland maps, will there be any underwater combat areas left in WvW?
I realize a whole group of people out there hate underwater combat, but there were still those of us out there that enjoy it.
I’m so glad I finished my legendary Frenzy last month. Going to be a blast showing it off while walking around the borderlands. What a slap in the face.
Uh, yes. How often do you play WvW did you say? There’s the large lakes in the red and green quarters of EB, the three rivers in the southern half of borderlands (where I witnessed underwater GvG), and most notably, the only area where underwater combat in WvW actually does occur with regularity, the Bay keep.

The map wasn’t up to date yet. The lake is 90% gone.

Judging from the live stream (the minimap there wasn’t updated), the lake will be almost 100% gone. I don’t know what happens to Bay water area.
Raid of the Capricorn is the only pvp map with underwater combat and even there > 80% of the combat occurs outside the water as most of the map objectives are on dry land.
It is not surprising that the lake gets eliminated. The Arenanet lead WvWvW designer seems to hate diversity e.g. note his stubborn stance on WXP being character bound (very little reason to play alts as they will be seriously lacking those overpowered WXP traits). He is so stuck up in his own idea of how WvWvW should be played that he does everything in his power to force that vision to his remaining players.
Bye bye water combat. More power to server with superior numbers. More Siege Wars 2.
I hope not, underwater combat is nearly as bad as downed state. A huge waste of resources that at best is novelty value, at worst, ruins the flow of combat and introduces a bunch of undesirable side-effects & corner-cases.

I hate underwater combat… but because it was done poorly, not because the concept is bad.
Mesmer underwater combat OP
