I dislike the down system a lot already…..
However if I could pin one thing down that I bloody hate the most its Thieves throwing House Stealth on top of someone and rezzing them….
The Rez system is already annoying, this just adds a new level of annoyance to it.
I have a thief as well, So I know how bloody powerful it is.
No, learn to use it to your advantage. You can use knockbacks, dazes and pulls to stop them from doing stealth revives. Spam your attacks at where the player was and they won’t be able to res very easily if at all. (Yes I know I have a thief, but it’s a P/D thief that only runs shadow refuge if someone makes me)
It can be a bother when you run into a coordinated group that uses them, but they are just playing well and you should learn counters.

So if you don’t have Cone Based Knockback/Dazes/Pulls (Daze by the way won’t stop them from ressing, you can just start back up) you’re pretty much screwed?
Also the person on the ground will still be stealthed, so nothing is stopping them from running back over and ressing the person either.
I should know…I’ve done it…
You can still hit them with your attacks directed at where they were. Just because you don’t see the numbers does not mean they are avoiding your damage. Invisibility does not make you immune.
Of all the things to complain about in WvW, this has to be one of the weakest. If you know that a thief is inside that circle trying to rez somebody, by definition you know exactly where he is and can throw all sorts of damage at him. It doesn’t even have to be AoE … you can just run around inside the area spamming melee abilities knowing that he is not defending himself. I often throw down Shadow Refuge when trying to heal somebody, but the only enemies it works against are the clueless ones.
Nah, thieves don’t have an overabundance of group utility. That they are good rezzers is a nice little niche for them to fill.
i’m all for a good ole-fashioned “nerf thieves to the ground plz!” thread but i can’t get behind this one. its a little too innovative.
There is a giant house above the downed one.
Is it that difficult to attack there?
Attacking won’t stop the rez unless you down the thief. Stealth house has counters. Not every class has those counters available to them.
I specifically take shield on my guardian to counter refuge. It’s a bit more balanced in a group versus group setting. If you are running solo with no counter to it, it’s going to suck for you for sure.
Have you thought about running duo, Xsorus? You can pair up with a class/build that covers some of your weaknesses.

i only run duo if i’m on the thief and guildies are on, i wont do it on the ranger
Attacking in a spot probably works better if you’re glass cannon build, for condition specs not so much..Maybe a Necro could pull it off.
I know that when I play my thief though I don’t have trouble getting my friend up if we’re house stealthed and 1 or 2 people are beating on us in an area, the only time it becomes difficult if there is 5+ people aoeing on the spot.
I hate rezzing in general. I absolutely despise the down system. Once dead, they should be dead.
They are not dead, they are downed. Huge difference.
How about a system that once you die it kicks the person out of WvW? Or better yet! It restarts the client! Would that be more acceptable for you?
These QQ threads are what’s really starting to annoy me.

You can have fun running back from spawn every time you die then. Meanwhile, I’ll be getting revived.
How about whenever you die, you have to delete the character and make a new one! Fair for everyone.

I have no problem running back from my spawn…I rarely die anyways…

You’re a condition spec ranger. You have traps. Put the traps down in the shadow refuge. They will do more damage the longer he sits there reviving. Throw your torch down, spam sword 1.

Ehhh, I remove conditions while I’m stealthed…and heal myself for a crap ton…a Ranger has virtually zero chance of killing me with traps while I rez someone..
and Sword 1 will not down anyone (esp a condition spec one) before they’re rezzed.
You can improvise using peg legs to knock them out of shadow refuge. All you need is to remember the location of the downed guy. Pretty fun to play with

Yeah, damage is not a sure way of stopping it. But shield of absorption works quite nicely.
Stealth stomping is worse than stealth ressing in my opinion.
Not anoyed by stealth ressing just anoying you can res dead players at all downed is ok dead is not.
While I don’t play my ranger anymore I can make a suggestion… Run with a wolf, fear the the thief out the shadow refuge. If you don’t like running a wolf, shadow refuge is a good counter against your build. At the end of the day we all have to make sacrifices to counter the builds that annoy us the most.
Personally I love the wolf as its fear can be used as an extra downstate stomp break.
When the thief stealth rezzes you know exactly where he is. Worst case scenario you repeatedly hit your #1 attack key. AoE works great for hurting the thief. I have a guildie warrior that hits the thief with hundred blades. Rapid fire attacks do a great job of deterring a thief from rezzing the target and you have a good chance of bringing down the thief as well. As others mentioned you can knock/pull them out.
If you stand there doing nothing while he rezzes the guy then you were outplayed.

Short of a 100B Warrior, you’re not going to kill me doing that on top of me.
You guys seem to forget, I play both a Ranger and a Thief, I know exactly what can and cannot counter House Ressing.
Pulling/Pushing only works vs the thief…It doesn’t magically make the downed person appear…..You can possibly get lucky and damage me, but i’ll go right back to ressing people with you not being able to do squat about it.
One day in particular I was able to fully res a dead player while 2 People attempted to kill me, All I’d do is simply wait for house stealth was up, Let them pop their AOE’s on me (by going near them stealthed and start ressing) Then doing House Stealth before doing the big res.
There was nothing they could do to stop me from doing this.
I’ve Ressed Countless people despite being beat on while in House Stealth…..Sure if you have a large zerg dropping AOE’s I probably won’t be able to res, But then again if we’re catering to just Large Zergs for dealing with Stealthers something is seriously wrong with the game.

Wolf won’t knock the thief out of stealth half the time, Its only 2 seconds long if I remember correctly, Its good for interruption..But it won’t stop a res completely.
The stealth “spiking” is annoying at times especially 1 vs 1. Some classes only have a single ability to counter them… and it’s usually on a long cooldown. You don’t have a chance to rally when you can’t target the person spiking you.
For example the engineer has 4 abilities to help rally themselves from a downed state. Unless there are other low Health NPC’s to target in the area, you are pretty much hooped 99% of the time if the attacker is stealth spiking. “booby trap” is an AE but on a 20 second cooldown… which only leaves the slow self-heal to use.
So I get downed… thief stealths, can only use my self health (AE is on cooldown and other two are targeted abilities) vs the 3 seconds it takes for him to spike me. Certain classes are just hooped…
