Anything to be done about WvW spies?
Actually our server has an even bigger problem. One person is already known to sabotage our golems constantly. I would really like to know for what can we report that person because we already reported him numerous times(for scamming and stuff that is available in the report system) and he’s still here killing our golems and nothing we can do about it…
There is nothing you can do about WvW spies, nor can you prove.
I know of one commander that had a multi-monitor set up with characters on the other T1 servers. He placed them strategically on certain parts of the map, especially in areas that he would be invading or defending.
He’s a pretty good commander without it, but it certainly gave him the edge in terms of timing.
Well, as to that commander, one can only help that he felt a real fool when his likely reward turned out to be some temporary dolyak finishers and a couple of greens.
The only thing that may have discouraged all this spying, ddos and other shenanigans is the fact that it turned out not to have been worth it for season one.

On the same token, aren’t we all fools for having some pixels as a reward for spending hours of our time that could be better spent with friends and family?
If he wishes to play that way and gets enjoyment from it, then by all means.
This is the first line of teh Terms of Conduct.
While playing Guild Wars 2, you must respect the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the Game.
But then when it came to players who build useless seige to reach the seige cap a mod responded that they cannot control the way a player plays, each player has a right to play in a style they like.
So even though that play style completely goes against the terms, they allow it!
Just remember Anet like to contradict themselves, my favourite being “You can use macros as long as they do one single thing, you know like a keybind; so dont forget to buy our officially endorsed Steel Series keyboard which allows macros, I mean keybinds!”
Remember to buy the officially endorsed GW2 Steel Series Keyboard, it supports macros!
WvW, we only care if it affects the servers we play on.
Doesn’t even matter in the first place. Wvw is funbar because of these reward bs. They need to make the rewards worse in combination with the increase transfer cost
The important question is whether it impacts on Living Story.
Well, does it?

Like spamming open field ACs all over the place in anticipation of our zerg? Yeah…
T1 has dealt with tag watchers and spies for months and months. We just push on and deal with it. Take lots of screenshots and send them to ANet support to try get the more obvious ones banned (the ones walking golems off cliffs, or throwing ballista build sites down on the commander every 2 seconds).

That’s not unique or special at all.
A better example is knowing when the enemy is stacking and going to be pushing out, so that he can call out all CC’s and bomb portals.
He also keeps track of commander tags on the map so that he won’t get any surprises and knows where all the blobs are at.
But as I said, he’s a good enough commander even without these. Pretty good at leading the pugs as well.

I remember when we sent a single person with a tag to a tower, and the entire zerg was there waiting for her. Yep. Keep on keeping track of our zergs

Truly, it ends up being a wash because the maximum impact is RELATIVELY minor.
Because… the missing element from this dialog are the guilds that have membership (and active friendships) in all three servers of a tier. And in many cases they are MAIN accounts (and not ALT accounts). Spying has been (and ever will be) an element of the game.
- A has spies on B & C.
- B has spies on A & C.
- C has spies on A & B.
Spying is universal. If you don’t know this then you are in denial.
While it is not my intention to flame bait or create discomfort, there is an undeniable culture of acceptance and support (on every server) for the spying and insurgent behavior that benefits “YOUR” server.
We have all witnessed amusement when another server suffers. That said, there will be those that must project their sense of moral superiority; good on them.
Just after release, I accepted…
- …that if/when I pin up, I might be trolled or tracked or targeted.
- …that if I built siege, there was a risk that it would be trolled.
- …that if I spammed to pick up bags, I might pick up troll food instead.
I even accepted that I must endure those that exploit, hack, or grief.
There are things I/we can control… and there are things that are outside our control. As I often tell people, ‘less kitten, more fight’.
One doesn’t own (nor is there accounting for) another person’s actions.
One can choose to ACT or REACT. How one handles those things that are beyond one’s control is the mark of maturity and a reflection of one’s character.
Troll’s feed on angst.
If one is feeding a troll, then one is reacting. If one is reacting, then the troll gains power over those that react. Don’t give trolls (spies, haxxors, griefers) control… it is all a matter of choice.
In the end, the only one that suffers is the one that chooses suffering.
I agree completely with Zortek. Get on with enjoying the game.
( terribly hard to agree with someone from THE enemy server…)
Its just one of those things in WvW you have to live with for now. We’ve got several trolls on JQ that jump golems to their deaths, place tons of random siege in the keep, spy, pin up to confuse the pugs, call out that other maps need help so their guild can get on the map, etc.
You just have to ignore them or change maps. Don’t let them get to you or know that they are…that’s what they want. Attention.
good that in the lower tiers we dont have to deal that much with trolls and spies because its more fun to troll the high tiers for them

I dunno; someone was dropping siege all over the place on one of the bl maps the other day. Big trail of the stuff from one tower to the next. (lower tier server).
