From your experiences, which of these two professions do it better? (standing on a wall casting big AoEs into zergs)

Elementalist.

Ele ,No doubt.

Elementalist is the king of AoE.

Elementalists can shoot fireballs out of their nostrils and poot raining fire all over the place.

Necro is much tankier then Ele’s.

Ele’s have big damage, but get three Necro’s to stack their bleeds and hit Pandemic and woooooooo. Dem deaths!

Ele is better for killing things, but I think Necro does area denial better. Esp traited for the larger marks, you can cover the entire front of a tower. Most people are afraid to trigger the marks even if they do little damage. But those that do trigger it, then you know where to dump all your AOE, even if you can’t see them yet.

Best bet, get both. Spread Ele burning around.

Elemental is better.

Necro Mark are only good if you traits for it (few build doesn’t trait for staff). Also, they dont do crazy damage. If you use it with epidemic, you can do some damage, but usualy people just cure condition and come back.

Perssonnaly, the best `Wall AoE caster for me would be engineer with grenade build

1500 range + no CD #1 + grenade barrage + condition = crazy.

Seriously, Engineer are prolly the best Siege machine around.

Necro is good for finding out where the enemy is. Ele is good for actually doing damage to said target.

Ele specced into increased aoe coverage. Fire + Earth abilities = Death to wall siege emplacements.

For firing into a zerg from the top of a wall i really like my necro, i use ground placed wells with my marks and epidemic.. does a lot of damage

but i have never played an ele so i have no idea what they get.

I play my Ranger with a Necro mate and they have some very nice abilities when sieging a busy wall, switching boons to debuff’s and then spreading them plague style is a nice way of getting deeper damage into enemy’s. But for raw AoE / Denial of the wall Ele is superior.

I think defenders are almost at a disadvantage on the castle walls. Their LoS is obstucted too much and as they are playing in a tighter space, they are easier AoE pickings for the more spread out attackers.

Castle walls of the medievil times werent built with magic in mind !

Probably necro. Ele aoe is just too easy dodge. Even if you won’t dodge you probably take only one hit anyways.

Elementalists are all about set and forget.

You can do some decent damage via ranged wells and marks, but it requires a bit more activeness and your cooldowns are a lot larger.

This. I paint the walls in green with my Necro, and I like it . Seeing numbers, and many people jumping away from the siege weapons. With 24k HP I come near enough to pull people down, thats a lot of fun because I know how they feel ^^.
And at the ground I can draw a line with my signs, that nobody wants to cross. So I can save a few catapults if they have a good place without an open backline.
My first Character hitting 80 was an Ele, and well…. it’s okay, additional for CC on bridges and things like that. But.. I like Necro more, and I don’t think that the 10 Points in Deathmagic is drown away. This dead rabbit for 5, okay, but thats another topic :/

i’ll second that. the second people notice the grenades hitting them it seems they run to a different wall and it’s pretty nice. rinse and repeat and take the tower.
