Guild Wars 2

The English version of the blog states a removal of both effects. The German version states that both effects are base-effects now, that will be gained at rank 100 and 200. What is the correct statement?

They’re not going to, that’s the thing. Same f***ing s*** over and over again. ANet will not actually take a little time to listen to actual WvWers.

I hope the German one is correct as well… on my main I was purely working towards these buffs, spent countless hours and points in these just for these buffs and when I’m just getting close finally they are removing them… WTF! I want a refund from those 2 lines then so I can spend those points in a different area since the 1 thing each had is being removed.

That’s what Anet wants. The general trend of WvW lately seems to be to promote low-skill, casual gameplay over any sort of strategy or learned ability. Spamming CC everywhere, blob-kite metas, and now guaranteed, AFK structure upgrades.

Anet has now decided to invalidate the play styles of small roaming and havoc groups by diminishing their contributions; there’s little point in starving a structure of supply with these changes unless the arrival of the zerg is truly imminent, as upgrades (and the eventual repairs they bring) are now guaranteed with time. It looks very much like EotM style k-trains will be the only way to prevent upgrades in the future.

Whenever changes are made to ability points (or updates affecting WvW in general) they usually refund rank points for all the lines you’ve spent them in.

I hope the German version is the right one as well.

There is no need to “constantly” check through all the forums, because it’s not “sub forums”. It is one singular sub forum that people are going to respond to. And you know why, because it’s a major “WvW topic” that was just unveiled. This isn’t about “Living World”, this isn’t about “PvP”, this isn’t about “Lore”. It is about “WvW” and therefore it’s going to be talked about in the one and only “WvW” sub-forum.

Also, posted this from my tablet with no issue whatsoever.

Agreed. They were far too powerful and required far too much investment creating a situation whereby simply being in WvW longer automagically made you substantially better at it than a guy who just started, even if that person was actually better than you at the game.

The other lines all did a good job of balancing power/time/investment, but those two were just bad game design.

It’s a nerf to everybody yes, but the fact is it will hit certain builds much harder than others. The Strength thing like I mentioned is neither here nor there as 100 power equals less than a 5% damage increase. But losing out on 250 vitality absolutely slams zerker builds, while tankier, high HP classes probably go… meh.
